@TheMadhatgamers1 It depends on the game, some by chance, some by choice (SH1, SH2, SH5), some were just planning to pass by, some ended there without knowing it (SH5). In most cases they didn't know what to expect there (except SH5, when main character decides to go to SH for the 2nd time during the game). I'm not really sure about other Silent Hill games.

It seems that the combination from feelings (mostly anger,hate and despair) are what is need to get those events...I mean, maybe the blind but strong "faith" on a "God" that will grant you the power you need (SHO-SH-SH3-SH4),The regret of somehow hurted someone (SH2-SHH)

@ayojolian Happy in the sense that Alex, Elle and maybe even Wheeler survived the events of the game. Although both Elle and Alex did lose their entire family in the process.

I love this ending as it ends with a sense of irony. Since birth, Alex was marked as the Sacrifice and was always intended to be murdered to appease The Goddess. But in the end, Alex is the only member of the Shepherd family to survive.

At first I thought he got over all that happened a little fast, but now I understand why. At the beginning, he'd been having Nightmares of Josh being in double and the guilt was consuming him. He also felt no love from his parents during his childhood. However, he now realizes it's all over. He's made peace with his brother (I believe Josh denying his offer of Robbie at the beginning but accepting the Light like he did during his nightmare is symbolic), he realizes his parents loved him(con)

Depends on which ending his "canon". And we won't know that until/unless future games make reference to this one, and even then it's speculation.

Ex. SH1's cannon is likely Harry saving Cheryl but Cybil dying, because of SH3 and the fact that in this game, Wheeler says Cybil never came back (then again, she COULD have just gone into hiding).
