@theUDTfrogman in vietnam the australian SASR teams were outperforming any other unit in country and had the highest kill and success rate. the vietcong were terrified by these "phantoms of the jungle" and placed enormous bounties on their heads
Watched this looking for familiar faces - I grew up in Hawaii when Dad was EOD 1 - then as a kid moved to Nado- Wendell Webber was my dad's mentor - I babysat Chuck Lemoyne's kids and recall more than one night that we had to spend the night because of partying with Sweet Al Spinks and Dave Schiable - think Dad was class of 33 Kia VN 1/18/68
@cassius969 the vietcong and north vietnamese didnt have anything like the navy seals, you moron. in fact, the north vietnamese put a 15,000 dollar reward for any seal killed. that tells you the seals were hurting the enemy.

@VaanLeonis Naah, look at the guy in the front of the boat, the machinegun has a carrying grip on top of the barrel, shaped like a FN one, and the Muzzle and the muzzle break looks totally different linke a M60 ;-)
Seals are the elite. they got their shit together. the North vietnamese feared these guys the most and with good reason. I honor those that served in this countries dark time
@MrSpanky87 This film was prepared to educate people and more specifically recruits about the Navy Seals. It has nothing whatsoever to do with "propaganda".
@bashfulbrother What makes this film horrible is that people actually think its role is to educate. It's a recruitment video; it's objective is basically to give an idealized image of War in order to impress young men who dream of being heroes in order to fuel the American war machine. I'm not questioning the necessity of War, I'm just saying that to say this video is educational is to confuse the 'end' for the 'means'. God knows I enjoyed watching it.
@MrSpanky87 If you research this you will find that they use this film and others in boot camp to inform, and yes, to educate recruits on their options. You may not agree with their use of these tools, and it your right in this country to express dissent. In Vietnam, the VC and NVA would take your head off. Did you serve in Vietnam?
I do agree that this seems to glamorize the effect of war, but you didn't get that right by waving a peace sign and singing "Give peace a chance". Men bled and died
@bashfulbrother As a European, it was the soldiers who fought in WWII who gave me a right to dissent, not Vietnam. I believe in such a thing as a just war and an unjust war. I would not consider Vietnam a just war. This video is military propaganda. It's being used on YouTube as military propaganda whether anyone likes it or not. Also it's labeled as a recruiting video. It serves the same purpose as a hot babe posing with a car. Surely you realize this.
@MrSpanky87 Well, to begin, it was those "dirty rotten" UDT guys that opened the way for DDay and the invasions in the Pacific. Second,, you would be goose stepping and singing Uber Deurtschland if it weren't for the American forces that bled and died so you can piss and moan. Third, being a European this is none of your business. You are not an American Citizen so take your whining and bleed on your socialist buddies over there.
@bashfulbrother Thought we were having a discussion - I won't respond to your opinions. But just to clarify of course I appreciate the sacrifice of the Americans who served in WWII - my grandfathers also fought and I appreciate them fighting as well.
@MrSpanky87 Here's the deal. No one, absolutely no one, is forced to go to BUD/S.
The men that make it through phase 1 are the most motivated individuals in the service. By the time training is finished and they actually are allowed to wear the trident they have come face to face with every facet of their personality, flaws and strengths. The entire process is voluntary and attrition rates are high. These guys do this because they love it, not because they were tricked into it.
@MrSpanky87 If you watch this film you can tell it is really dated. Vietnam was going on 50 years ago. Most of the guys in the teams today sign up with the sole idea of trying to make it onto the teams. There has been a need recently due to the conflicts in the middle east for more operators and the Navy hardly does any real recruiting for the teams.
Today a large majority of guys who try to qualify for BUD/S have been working on their physical attributes for a good 2-3 years before phys qual.
@MrSpanky87 Funny little side note. In 62 when Kennedy commissioned the teams they were Top Secret. They actually were sort of introduced to the public in a comic book. Also, on, of all places, the Beverly hillbillies in 1970. If you really have any questions ask Buds131. He has truly BTDT. Chief in the teams.
@MrSpanky87 oh...and all these men were doing in Vietnam was trying to bring the right to dissent to the people of Vietnam. The same right you have and take for granted today.
@bashfulbrother please since when did the US care about anyone's right to dissent. The US used Vietnam as a battleground against the communists with the objective of preventing Vietnam from becoming governed by a pro-Communist military government. The hope was to have a pro-US dictatorship, just like what you've got in Georgia today. I don't see why you've brought this up I never even mentioned it before you did.
@MrSpanky87 I did not say the US, I said the men who were fighting the war and were hip deep in the blood and mud. And actually both countries and politics were concerned about the oil in Tonkin Bay.
Does anybody know if the Heckler&Koch 33 alias Harrington&Richardson T223 (to see in 6:06 of this video) was a solid weapon in vietnamese climate? Was it the better choice instead of Colt M16 A1?
@sergynkov FOR VC CRIMINAL WAR SERGYNKOV: Communist criminal, defends the communist military dictatorship of the Vietnam. Either man in the life and goes to defend the human rights and the democracy in the Vietnam. You and Pol Pot of Cambodia are murderous cowards, who live in the luxury and the people of the Vietnam lives in the Misery and the dictatorship.
That type of democracy, would you go to Vietnam? Napalm bomb. It is a true crime war. You gave to vietnamise the death. Freedom? World free? In true, all lie. Democracy, UNITED STATE, COMUNISM are lies. American not win the Vietnam war this is true..
@sergynkov Green Berets are men that follow of their great country. Green Berets are not cold blooded killers that work for Russian Mob like SpecNaz and SpecNaz are known kill innocent civilians.
The democracy is a lie. The american would not go to give democracy to Vietnam, but let chao, death. If the seals were, why don't win the war? In the Vietnam War were the Ranger, Green Berets, Force Recon of Marines. Special Force, by itself, don't win a war. The Iraq is exemple of this. There are the Delta Force, Seals, Rangers, Green Berets. And then, are they win the war? No is'nt.
@pedrolegion you've been fooled like many others if you believe we were actually there to give vietnam democracy. much more corrupt and dirtier motives were the reality. none of the troops knew this they only got the mission objective and did what they were told
@RES1ST0R Not to be a dick, but from what I read of the SEALs (I cant speak for basic soldiers), they didnt fight for their country or their flag. They fought because they were there and the enemy was trying to make them, or their brothers, dead.
I used to work with a guy who was infantry during Vietnam. Despite all the horrors he witnessed, he said the scariest thing he witnessed was a CIA agent. The agent came out the bushes and was walking toward enemy territory. He said the agent was holding a rifle and whistling as he walked.
My uncle Jerry was in the navy during vietnam and he told me a story about a guy who wanted to be a SEAL. He told me he was really buff and COULD do the training. But he told me he got through half the training and was denied just because he wore glasses. I think that was very unfair to him; letting him go through THAT much training and then be denied...
@Buds131 it it true that you can't get in if you have bad vision? because i wear contacts and i go free diving and all that fine with a mask on. I even know how to open my eyes underwater without losing my contacts.
@Buds131 wrong i read on the website there are exeptions for colorblindness (i am color blind) as long as you can pass the color blind aptitude test (which you can just memorize the answers too which is what a lot of guys do.)
@Nightraider978::: It's because of you that so many guys fail BUD/S training.
You post unresearched, dumb-shit that your Phony SEAL Uncle passed down to you and spread it around like a plague so you can feel better about yourself.
It's unfortunate that despicable, jerkoff, clods like you are allowed up past your bedtime.
Go to bed little man... You've got a History Exam in the morning...
@Buds131 I have a question how did the SEALs make the transition from UDT to land combat effective small units? Was it all inhouse naval training? or did elements from Army SF, and SAS help them make the transition?
@harleyqslovechild88 ....Lt. Commander Roy Boehm USN helped make the transition from UDT to SEAL's. He has a book titled First Seal that is a good read. Yes, he mentions that Army SF did assist in some of their training such as kitchen table demolitions and HAHO/HALO training but it was only at his request. As for the SAS I don't recall him mentioning them in the book, however, our Army SF was based on the SAS/commando model so the training SAS had to offer may have been passed on indirectly.
@jimbo7143 Thank You, id have to disagree however witth the SAS's involvement with the Making of the Green Berets, There linages can be traced to the OSS, and the 1st special service group which was joint canadian. I do know Delta was inspired my SAS and tested in Progect Delta during Vietnam, and offical established in the 1970's but i think as far as the Green Beret are concerned its alil more home grown as opposed to Delta.
@Buds131 DUDE all i am saying is that there is a test (i dont remember the name of it) and in this test they test how severe you are. now i may be severe maybe not but if i am found able to pass then i can get in that is all i am saying I READ THE FRIEKEN WEBSITE ON MILITARY . COM POLICIES CHANGE AND COULD OF CHANGED SINCE YOU WERE IN!!!!!
@Buds131 i love your vids. have always been a seal fan!!!! i wanted to become a seal but i guess i was not though enough... guess life will go on, everything i do pt wise is always balls out never quit never stop fuck fear, but yes talk is cheep. i would love to meet a seal one day. i would have loved to hear some storys and ask so many questions. thank you for keeping us free. Juan E. Vargas from Modesto Ca.
Special warfare groups screen for things like eyeglass use, so It may have been that the guy you are speaking of tried to conceal the fact that he wore glasses,, but was found out half way through the program.
That is tough break, one that would kill a lot guys, but if a man is really dependent upon glasses, which are lost or damaged on a mission, he becomes a huge liability to himself and everyone who fights with him in a small special warfare unit , hundreds of miles from friendlies.
Maybe. I don't think I well every know why buts its not really that important to me. I didn't know the guy. lulz
My uncle did say that from what was going on that he WAS Passing the training though so I am gonna go with your thearoy. (Sorry if I spelled it wrong, Tad dyslexic)
@D33P7hr0a72 Glasses can give your position away just like a scope and I don't think they had contacts back then, or it could have been because I think you need to have 20/20 vision! You might want to do some research online you might want to check out the physical qualifications needed to be in the teams!
"It spreads fear and terror through all the villages."
I watched for a minute a show on the Kennedy's the other day and it said that president Kennedy got us into Vietnam because he wanted to show the world, and especially the Russians, how mighty America was. I then turned off the show, totally disgusted.
People all over the world would do well to lose this mentality of war, and go in the other direction of genuine peace and cooperation. Don't let "leaders" think they can do anything they wan

military propaganda...it's horrible...
MrSpanky87 1 year ago
@MrSpanky87 This film was prepared to educate people and more specifically recruits about the Navy Seals. It has nothing whatsoever to do with "propaganda".
bashfulbrother 1 year ago
@bashfulbrother What makes this film horrible is that people actually think its role is to educate. It's a recruitment video; it's objective is basically to give an idealized image of War in order to impress young men who dream of being heroes in order to fuel the American war machine. I'm not questioning the necessity of War, I'm just saying that to say this video is educational is to confuse the 'end' for the 'means'. God knows I enjoyed watching it.
MrSpanky87 1 year ago
@MrSpanky87 If you research this you will find that they use this film and others in boot camp to inform, and yes, to educate recruits on their options. You may not agree with their use of these tools, and it your right in this country to express dissent. In Vietnam, the VC and NVA would take your head off. Did you serve in Vietnam?
I do agree that this seems to glamorize the effect of war, but you didn't get that right by waving a peace sign and singing "Give peace a chance". Men bled and died
bashfulbrother 1 year ago
@bashfulbrother As a European, it was the soldiers who fought in WWII who gave me a right to dissent, not Vietnam. I believe in such a thing as a just war and an unjust war. I would not consider Vietnam a just war. This video is military propaganda. It's being used on YouTube as military propaganda whether anyone likes it or not. Also it's labeled as a recruiting video. It serves the same purpose as a hot babe posing with a car. Surely you realize this.
MrSpanky87 1 year ago
@MrSpanky87 Well, to begin, it was those "dirty rotten" UDT guys that opened the way for DDay and the invasions in the Pacific. Second,, you would be goose stepping and singing Uber Deurtschland if it weren't for the American forces that bled and died so you can piss and moan. Third, being a European this is none of your business. You are not an American Citizen so take your whining and bleed on your socialist buddies over there.
bashfulbrother 1 year ago
@bashfulbrother Thought we were having a discussion - I won't respond to your opinions. But just to clarify of course I appreciate the sacrifice of the Americans who served in WWII - my grandfathers also fought and I appreciate them fighting as well.
MrSpanky87 1 year ago
@MrSpanky87 Here's the deal. No one, absolutely no one, is forced to go to BUD/S.
The men that make it through phase 1 are the most motivated individuals in the service. By the time training is finished and they actually are allowed to wear the trident they have come face to face with every facet of their personality, flaws and strengths. The entire process is voluntary and attrition rates are high. These guys do this because they love it, not because they were tricked into it.
bashfulbrother 1 year ago
@MrSpanky87 If you watch this film you can tell it is really dated. Vietnam was going on 50 years ago. Most of the guys in the teams today sign up with the sole idea of trying to make it onto the teams. There has been a need recently due to the conflicts in the middle east for more operators and the Navy hardly does any real recruiting for the teams.
Today a large majority of guys who try to qualify for BUD/S have been working on their physical attributes for a good 2-3 years before phys qual.
bashfulbrother 1 year ago
@MrSpanky87 Funny little side note. In 62 when Kennedy commissioned the teams they were Top Secret. They actually were sort of introduced to the public in a comic book. Also, on, of all places, the Beverly hillbillies in 1970. If you really have any questions ask Buds131. He has truly BTDT. Chief in the teams.
bashfulbrother 1 year ago
@MrSpanky87 oh...and all these men were doing in Vietnam was trying to bring the right to dissent to the people of Vietnam. The same right you have and take for granted today.
bashfulbrother 1 year ago
@bashfulbrother please since when did the US care about anyone's right to dissent. The US used Vietnam as a battleground against the communists with the objective of preventing Vietnam from becoming governed by a pro-Communist military government. The hope was to have a pro-US dictatorship, just like what you've got in Georgia today. I don't see why you've brought this up I never even mentioned it before you did.
MrSpanky87 1 year ago
@MrSpanky87 I did not say the US, I said the men who were fighting the war and were hip deep in the blood and mud. And actually both countries and politics were concerned about the oil in Tonkin Bay.

No is'nt.
eudsonamx 1 year ago
@pedrolegion you've been fooled like many others if you believe we were actually there to give vietnam democracy. much more corrupt and dirtier motives were the reality. none of the troops knew this they only got the mission objective and did what they were told
RES1ST0R 10 months ago

@uroboros21::: Eye/Vision problems are the "Number 1" disqualifier of guys not being able to attend SEAL Training...
You need excellent vision and "NO" color blindness to become a SEAL...
Buds131 1 year ago
@Buds131 wrong i read on the website there are exeptions for colorblindness (i am color blind) as long as you can pass the color blind aptitude test (which you can just memorize the answers too which is what a lot of guys do.)
Nightraider978 1 year ago
@Nightraider978::: Nope... No exceptions... I don't like being called out much and you go ahead and cheat away.
If you think the Navy is dumb enough to not figure out when and how guys cheat, you've got another thing coming.
Good Luck with that test. They don't allow color blindness for a good reason.
You wanting to put other men in harms way because you can't tell the difference between red and green at night; that's great...
Guys like you are just what SEAL Team is "Not" looking for...

@Buds131 I have a question how did the SEALs make the transition from UDT to land combat effective small units? Was it all inhouse naval training? or did elements from Army SF, and SAS help them make the transition?
harleyqslovechild88 1 year ago
@harleyqslovechild88 ....Lt. Commander Roy Boehm USN helped make the transition from UDT to SEAL's. He has a book titled First Seal that is a good read. Yes, he mentions that Army SF did assist in some of their training such as kitchen table demolitions and HAHO/HALO training but it was only at his request. As for the SAS I don't recall him mentioning them in the book, however, our Army SF was based on the SAS/commando model so the training SAS had to offer may have been passed on indirectly.
jimbo7143 1 year ago
@jimbo7143 Thank You, id have to disagree however witth the SAS's involvement with the Making of the Green Berets, There linages can be traced to the OSS, and the 1st special service group which was joint canadian. I do know Delta was inspired my SAS and tested in Progect Delta during Vietnam, and offical established in the 1970's but i think as far as the Green Beret are concerned its alil more home grown as opposed to Delta.

Nightsurf59 2 years ago
Maybe. I don't think I well every know why buts its not really that important to me. I didn't know the guy. lulz
