and in 2011 in the wind and rain especially the times he teed off in the third and fourth rounds he finished tied 22nd- now becomes the only man to make the cut in the open in FIVE different decades
Although he didn't win, I think it's pretty safe to say no other golfer will ever be that age (59) and be tied for first after regulation play in a major ever again. His swing is timeless, as supple and natural looking as Sam Snead's. One of the greats.
What a champion, what a golfer, what a man should be. You hope to leave this planet better for your participation and contribution. Time will never be able to discredit or diminishTom Watson's.
the 75 second ovation for Tom Watson approaching the green as magnificant as it was i believe cost him the tournament as i really beleive by the time he played his third shot the emotion of it all was too much
having said that i never tire of watching that walk upto the green-a wonderful moment for a wonderful champion
@dlamiss first time seeing this ... loved watching the pga on sunday afternoons as a kid say late 60s thru late 70s ... havent followed the sport in 25+ years tho
cant say i was a big watson rooter i pulled for trevino or any underdog against
nichlaus but watching this video i got a bit of a lump in my throat
and i woulda definitely been pulling for watson had i known of this
