I wonder...the psx version was complete with voicework, did any other versions have this as well? I kinda wish the PC version did, I can't stand all the mumbling.
I've only played the DS and PS1 versions of the game and I also noticed that, aside from the final bosses being completely different, the PS1 version was missing at least 3-4 levels.
@BrimstoneLandscapes hmm.. i thought the ps1 version was the same as the n64 version.. And the ds version and n64 version was 1 to 1 the same. The dreamcast version and the strange ps2 version was total different.
@BrimstoneLandscapes Top of the World, Sanctuary of Water and Ice (though the slide and Axel are in Whale Bay). There's probably more. I'll be right back!
I am back with research! Those 2 levels are the only levels that have been removed from the PS1 version. However, parts of levels were cut. Example; The first phase of Tomb of the Ancients was removed. The Sanctuary of Stone and Fire had the two temples merge together with some new areas.
@SpyroTheDragon96 there both easy yes but PC version is a bit harder an i played it when i was 8 yrs old so yeah......than i wasen't that good at gaming yet, this must have been like my 4 ore 5 game, and it dindin't talked inglesh at that time, and i could'nt transalte it to my language any how so......i didn't knew what i was doing, had fun though
@holycrapvids lol you are right. on the pc you fight him while he his hanging at 2 pillars, he shoots bullets at you that follows you, you need to go in annoying tunnels to get ammo while you are avoiding pillars and bullets, and sometimes the lava even goes up!
@vjpearce Well oringally in some versions their 1000 lums it lims down to 999 because Razorbeard in his first cutscene eats it.
Another reason is if you collect all you seen i think some areas where you can only get it in one try like i think Glommy Island you get them lums idk. I only got the PSX and i got like a 90 to i think also you get the best time for them walk levels to.
I used to have it on PC... good ol' days XD anyhoo PC graphics were fantastic compared to N64 and PS1, but both these systems had a nice port of the great escape, to me an excellent game is an excellent game, graphic engine doesn't matter ^^
@hitmontop16 if ya get at least 90% (720) of the yellow lums, you get to play a really old rayman 2 beta (which is like a polished rayman 1) after the game ends
The PS1-version actually has voice acting?! This is really different from the PC version. And not really in a good way, either :/ Anyway, razorbeard is the best rayman villain ever. :D
@drskeletor1 To be precise, the GBA version doesn't seem to be canon. Many people consider it the GBA version of Rayman 2, but with elements from Rayman 3 thrown into it. So basically, Razorbeard escaped after Rayman 2 and is never heard from again.
am kinda wondering how come u have the same boss as i do! Cuz the ACCTUAL razorbeard boss u fight in different way. How come that there are 2 versions of this game? o.O
Depends on your console. This is the PlayStation 1 version. Every console had different limitations. The PS1 was probably the crappiest HW that this game could be written for. They did a lot of tricks to get the game on the PS1.
The final boss on the PC is entirely different, and N64 had a lot of differences as well.
It was a breakthrough for home video game consoles of course, but the PCs of the time could beat the hell out of it - of course, they were more expensive than a PS1, since PS1's were sold below cost because Sony made up the loss by taking a cut of profit for all games sold on it.
Not knocking the PS1 - when it came out, it was a revolutionary GAMING console, but hardly the best hardware you could get at the time.
Sales doesn't determine what is the better hardware. The PS1 was revolutionary for it's time, but by the time Rayman2 came out, the PS1 was the crappiest machine it was ported to.
The Nintendo 64 had a 94 Mhz modified MIPS processor. The PS1 had a 33 Mhz modified MIPS processor.
Look, all I'm tried to do is educate you. but if you want to believe whatever happy horse shit you want to believe in, go right ahead. I don't care. I can't stop people from being idiots although the world would be a better place if I could, I can't.
There was a limitation in the shader engine that limited the number of textures that could be loaded - but the PS1 had the same limitation.
If you look up Rayman 2 N64 here, you can compare directly if you care to do it. You can verify yourself which system had better capabilities by doing side to side comparison. What the PS1 had over the N64 was it used a CDROM, and not a stupid cart system.
Don't you realize that I can take a modern computer system and give it LOUSY graphics, if I so choose?
You need to compare game A to game A on console B and console C.
Even that's not accurate. If a system isn't expected to generate a lot of sales, the developers don't worry about it so much. The PS1 version of Rayman 2 - is AMAZING considering the limitations they had to work with, but it was the best selling console of the 90s.
is it me or did they not speck an in WORDS on the N64 version? i remember thenm talking like in the banjo-kazooie games. in mumbels words translated by text.
yeah your right, thats the way the n64 version did it. I should know i have the n64 version remake for the ds, they have a bunch of gibberish as you said.
It sucked that in order to save space on the N64 and DS carts, they have to use gibberish. There was a lot of dialog in this game. The gibberish still kind of added to the otherworldly experience, for me anyway. It doesn't matter to me.
I personally liked the gibberish cause it let my imagination fill the voice the way i liked it. especially the parts where in the ps2 version there was some narrator and in the n64 version there was no narrator narrating it which let me read it in the way i found appropiate
Hmmm...I do have to say that I'm actually fond of the gibberish in the N64 version. :O
