Sonny wrote some really beautiful songs, he knew how to write for Cher to sound as great as she does. She was very young, and fabulous. He did know what was right for them as she said at his funeral. Thank God they met by chance at a coffee shop one day.Cher said this is pretty much her favorite song. When she first heard "I Got You, Babe", she was not impressed!!
@SteelersAFC1 - It was honest, an honest reaction to everything Sonny was thinking and feeling at the time. He was also using every influence that he had ever been exposed to at Gold Star and within Phil Spector's empire. When Sonny first played "Baby Don't Go" for Phil, he passed on recording it or trying to put it out, but he wisely bought half the publishing from Sonny, for I think $500.00 - probably hearing his 'wall of sound' in it, just like you hear in this one, too.

Thanks for posting. I lost my High School sweetheat 3 years to ALS, and this was one of our favorites. I still shed tears when I hear this. She was only 57.
