I write ads and present campaigns to clients for a living. Nothing, other than a suicide wish, would induce me to present such an utterly pointless piece of shit as this to a client. I would rightly expect to be shown the door and lose the account.

First of all, referencing a David Lean movie is way too adventurous. It promises something almost certainly undeliverable. "the Revolution is coming"?? What revolution? Apple already did that. Microsoft is playing catchup. That much we all know.

Looking forward to this OS. Pretty cool. Now Android OS looks like an ancient OS to me. Why should multitasking if it can't handle it well. Makes the phone lags and choppy. And more importantly, drains your battery and makes you cry.

Looking forward to it. Already got the app dev environment which is free. It's Visual Studio, so at least it got one of the best IDE's for you available. The integration with Xbox live allows for some very cool features.

The flaming or responding to it is useless. People are always much more motivated to respond to things when they have something negative to say.

Let's wait and see is my opinion. A lot of criticism Microsoft receives these days is based on the past like the IE6 disaster.

Bill Gates worked on Apple II, Lisa and Macs as a 3rd party SW developer - Microsoft. He was never employed by Apple. Microsoft is still a 3rd party developer for Apple on Macs and now iOS.

Multi touch was invented at University of Toronto back in the early 80s. Bill Buxton was one of the guys who developed capacitance multi touch there. He's now working at Microsoft. I'd guess he had a role on Surface and Windows 7 multi touch. But Microsoft didn't invent multi touch either.

I would say to stop criticizing this video out of context. It was shown at the Secret Cinema screening of Lawrence of Arabia... an event. This commercial makes perfect sense and is creative in that context. Font selection too - same as movie title.

Does anyone remember the Coca-Cola commercial that played before Indiana Jones and the last Crusade? Same kind of idea, there are many others but that one comes to mind. Don't judge at face value so quickly. Even on it's own the commercial is fine.

How will Microsoft make money with Windows Phone 7?

They're spending $500 million on marketing it. Windows Mobile used to be licensed to phone makers at about $20 per unit. If WP7 is same, they'd need to sell 25 million or so to break even. A tall order any way you look at it. (RIM averages 9-11 million per qtr with their BOGO program).

More importantly, why should HTC, Motorola, Samsung, LG, etc use Window Phone 7 when Android is free? Is Microsoft paying them or giving WP7 for free?
