Harold was repelling invaders left right and centre in those days, not least from Tostig and Hardrada. William has 10 days to rest up and prepare for battle after his crossing.

Wrong - the Queen is the head of state. She can do whatever she wants (dissolve Parliament etc.) she just never exercises her power. So of course she could sell the castle if she wanted to.

Windsor Castle, like Buckingham Palace and Holyroodhouse Palace, are State property, with upkeep funded by Parliamentary vote (unlike Sandringham and Balmoral Castle, which are the Queen's private property).

Like the Crown Jewels, she could sell them only with the agreement of her ministers.

Thanks Scotty, I had to remove this and the Buckingham Palace video as I could not verify where the music came from on the previous versions (you have to be careful on this partnership thing, I do noy want to lose my channel!) We all evolve and wish we knew then what we know now, but there was not a lot I could do with these!
