@tsayad1986 C&C 1 was kinda a thing of the 1990s, the military history of which was dominated by the fact that the West had no "evil empire" to sabre rattle against at all and there was this big thought that now everyone was on the same side, they could act (via the UN) as the world's policemen and deal with civil wars and humanitarian crises in Eastern Europe (former Yugoslavia, Rwanda, etc.) Often asymmetric warfare, that. Also Gulf War I was an influence (the first "televised" war) somewhat.

@TheChrasse I strongly disagree because all of the games are good. All the games before EA took over are great, but the ones when EA did take over are even greater.  They didn't kill the franchise and anyone who thinks they did just has a grudge against EA for drifting away from the traditional C&C. But, I am completely certain if EA never took over Westwood, the newer games would still be very different than the old ones.

C&C 3, Red Alert 3, and Generals are all very good and strategic games

@Sly88Frye The problem with that is, while i agree that C&C3 was pretty decent, Generals is C&C in name only, and C&C4 was an attrocity, it has very little to do with a grudge against EA, i just really don't think C&C 4 was worthy of the title.. and i did enjoy Generals, it just wasn't a C&C game, it was a generic modern war game. :p

Now, I have yet to play C&C 4. I really don't know what to think of that game, but I enjoy all the rest of the C&C games.

I really think judging by the hate that the traditionalists have towards EA's games, I think they are holding a grudge and not keeping an open mind. Red Alert 3 added some amazing new elements to the RTS genre. You can build your base on land and in water too.

@Sly88Frye You'll notice that i didn't disagree with you that RA3 is okey, i think the humor went a bit too far, but it's still a fun game. :)

And well, that's just how the C&C style works, allways have.. which is why Generals was so jarring, it was more like playing Age of Empires or Warcraft, construction wise, it was still a decent game, it just didn't seem like a C&C game.

And personaly i really really hated C&C 4, but yeah, you'll have to try it yourself of course.

@Advima Generals wasn't really a generic modern war game, I haven't seen any other Modern RTSs apart from World in Conflict (Which has no base building which I don't like that much) apart from Generals. There's only ever WW2 ones like Company of Heroes or Men of War or Command and Conquer. Also C&C 4 automatically bad without question. WITH. OUT. QUESTION. The ones previous to C&C 4 though I liked a lot.

That's because there's other RTS games out there dropping the base building shit, putting more a focus on the actual combat rather than sitting around building SIm city. If no base building is enough to make you hate an RTS, then just don't play the games. Simple as that.The genre is evolving, for better or for worse. Nicholas rage, calm down. I'm simply pointing out that building a well laid out defensive plan to your base along with strategically placed buildings takes much more strategy. Lots of weak points to consider and a lot more strategy involved in my opinion. Not just clicking a single button (The strongest unit you can build) and telling them what dood to kill like any belligerent tit sucking toddler can do.

Yes. Building your base requires so much strategy and thinking (routine) and 'defensive structures' (Which I almost never, ever used) let me get into the top 100 of each game for long periods until I stopped playing them all. I'm pretty sure it was the constant spam of tanks that got me there and harrassing harvesters (Which is also merely routine, not strategy.)

Yea RA1 is pretty messed up mainly because of the fact tanks drive over infantry (and bazookas hit too low vs tanks anyway considering the high cost). Also mammoths are way too cheap.

Splitting teams to "naval overpower" and "crazy tanks" just doesn't create an anjoyable gameplay.

sigh i miss this, my disks have all perished the attack of time, i never finished GDI cause the disk didnt like working :( i didnt like Sun (im guinna get abused for this) but i thoguht there were too many ranged super weapons like the scatter bombs, every time i tried to build up defence it gets sent to hell along with my troops by and iron cannon or scatter bomb, i get so angry whenthat happens, its just not like the first one :(

You know there is a option to disable superweapons for skirmish. Not on story though... Pretty much of the people didn't like tiberian sun but I liked it a lot.

With C&C3 the thing bugging me the most is the mood. It's not bad but it's different. Outcounting the awesomely moody main meny. The mood in the game isn't the same that it used to be but it's not really any worse.

All the games were fun and I can't really say what is the best of them.

But it was still a proper command and conquer game and I did play it a lot, just some of the units and super weapons pissed me off xD learning experience, I suppose? RA2 sorted it IMO. In truth the old game as the best and i still play it sucks i have this top map glitch that crashes the game. Tiberum sun was... ok cnc 3 was alot better the storie line wise but the gameplay as faring from the better day's. the red alert is never ever going to be better then tiberum univers i cant wait for The FPS tiberum to be finshed just to see what it be like face to face with the tiberum univers <3 love the song i herd a few remixes but this is still the best thxxx for posting this song <3
