Gore's comments were valid in 1992 with regard to not taking out Iraq's elite units when there was a rebellion after the gulf war of 1990-91. Saddam crushed the rebellion and stayed in power. Iraq was not a threat to us in 2003, because under Clinton, we had bombed their Intelligenc HQ for trying to kill Bush Sr. in 1993. Iraq did not attempt another terrorist attack against us.
