yes, this is nice, but.....who the hell has got 5 thousand smackers to ride this for 5 days ?? Its fun to dream, but this is for the uber-rich. The AVG. Canadian should be able to travel to (and through) Calgary affordably, such as on VIA Rail. Why cant the avg. Canadian travel on the route (CPR) that tied this country together ?? Things like the Royal Canadian, that only benefit those with HUGE money, really benefit nobody. This "class system" did not exist, rail-travel wise, in days past!
I grew up on the railway - CPR. Years ago, the Vice-President of CP put me on the head end of this train on the Spiral Tunnels section of the east bound (No 2). I ran many of the old engines - including steam, when I was a kid - a "Junior Hoghead" I Love these videos - Thanks
It has already been acknowledged that this is an FP7(rather than an F7). I'm curious about the GP that's sometimes used instead of the B-unit. Most of the GPs & SDs I've seen have CPRail paint jobs.I wonder why they don't have a dome car. That's a shame given the scenery that this train passes through. By the way, I'd like to know how you get the cab shots. That's usually off limits in the post 9/11 world.
@thecarolinamudcat if you note in the video credits, this was shot in 2001, looks to be spring, so it was before that disasterous day. secondly, the "cab shots" are from the passenger side of a high rail truck, not an FP7. The telltale on the right side of the shot, the reflection in the windshild, and the dubbed sound in those sections give it away. Also, the camera position is too low to be from a locomotive cab. :) it's a very nice video. I really like the wide angle shot.
that's a nice horn on that f7

@BudmanPackfan
Thanks
2001 was the first year i decided to try railway videos.
The cabshoots were indeed inside a CPR Hirail truck of the roadmaster.
Trying to make a video that was different than the ones usually seen.

Where's the third shot taken from?
t3hfuhr3r 3 years ago
2nd and third shots taken from Service road just east of Wapta Lake.The fourth shot is missing for some reason.

That ain't no service road, that's a highway! ;)
I thought it must have been from a different location, since you had the same one in the clip just before.

A few technical details I could be picky about, but overall a great job. Look forward to more.
