  • I follow..

  • This is probably the only Japanese video I've ever saw that wasn't incredibly weird/scary.

  • When I first watched this video on my friend's computer, it's kind of a tearjerker of some sort. I don't know why, though. It's still brilliant.

  • You should change the title of this video. It kind of ruins the joke...

  • It made me chills

  • Fuck you Whale!

  • What a whale of an idea!!!

  • There's a fine line between genius and insanity. What looks like insanity could very well be genius.

  • always judge people and always will

  • Does anyone else think that a whale was a really poor choice for a Japanese commercial?

  • @271207 The reason for the whale is becuase of the whole whaling situation thats going on over there. Current events kid

  • @lemuelg14 Considering Japan is no where near docking the whaling fleet for good, I still think it's a poor choice, however relevant it may be to current events.

  • @271207 not from what i heard. japs are whaling whales to extinction, under the guise of scientific research. they whale in secret, illegally, and selling whale meat for money to ppl who want to eat meat, not for research.

  • @UnluckyGambler How in any way does that contradict what I said?

  • @271207 "japan is no where near docking the whaling fleet for good", i took that to mean japan isnt whaling nearly enuf to drive whales to extinction. and from that point of view, though relevant to current events, the whale drawing would be a poor choice.

    thats how i took it.

and of course i disagree with it.

  • @UnluckyGambler I meant the exact oposite, I was interpreting a response from someone else who, to me, implied that Japan was changing the whaling industry for the better, which I didn't agree with. I absolutely agree with you and that was exactly my point. Considering their heinous whaling activities I don't think Japan should relate to whales in this way in commercials, because they are using something they obviously don't respect, just for sales. As if they don't abuse them enough already.

  • @271207 I think the big problem with the whale issue is that non-Japanese people blow this issue into an almost racial issue. For example why are you grouping all Japanese people as the same? They can't have a commercial about children with "big ideas" because theres some tiny whale group out there doing its own thing? Why do you have to connect the 2? Because of their race? Well how about America starts banning commercials about anti-racism because America "allows" KKK to exist in their country

  • @sidjtd In my comments, I made little distinction due to the length limitation. But of course I don't hold all Japanese people responsible for whaling, however, that doesn't mean they shouldn't all be sensitive to it. I think a Japanese ad agency, though unrelated to the whaling, should be mindful of the connection and as I said in my initial comment, I think it was a poor choice. Every country as a whole should be mindful of their shortcomings, even when not everyone is directly responsible.

  • @UnluckyGambler Everyone needs to do their jobs, and people need to make sure no animals get extinct during hunting. That being said, banning hunting of certain animals should be controlled and regulated, not banned. Imagine if the Indians started only doing business if America stopped growing cows, or stopped hunting boars. That would be completely crazy

Whales need to be preserved and should not be endangered, but should not be banned from hunting because they are just "cute" or "special"

  • @sidjtd well i agree with all that, but whales ARE being hunted to extinction by the japs, thats the problem here. there was an international agreement on how much they can and cannot hunt, and the japs violated that.

  • @UnluckyGambler See, the problem is that whale population is scientifically studied by Japan and their research shows that the whale species they hunt are not even close to being extinct. Whale meat is not a staple in Japanese food culture, so if they ARE really close to extinction, the Japanese will stop hunting. They're not unreasonable. On a completely seperate subject, if people really wanted to help the environment, stop the west from eating beef first. Then tackle the whale issue later

  • @sidjtd like those japs would really care if whales about to become extinct. theyre doing this for profit, and in this capitalistic culture, profit is god, everything else is secondary. theyre not gonna stop just because the international law tells them to.

  • @UnluckyGambler If that is true, we have a bigger problem. If you believe that capitalism blinds people, the West is no different. Beef cultures is destroying the worlds rain forests and the Americas will stop at nothing or any illegal activity in order to continue this profit system. Yet I don't see anyone trying to stop that despite non-stop deforestation. If 1 tiny country is a threat to whales, who is fighting multination caused deforestation? Or is deforestation ok because "we like beef"?

  • And besides, ironically, it was white people that hunted the heck out of whales for whale oil and other crap and made their own whales extinct. You think Japan doesn't care if whales become extinct, but I don't think you understand that unlike the West, which generally believes they "own" nature and can't care less about pollution (American politicans dont even believe in global warming) but Japan is an island, the sea is all they can trust. Making their "food" extinct is self destructive.

  • @sidjtd back when whales were hunted for sperm oil, they were not in danger of becoming extinct, nor were people aware of such a danger. that was a long time ago. we know better now.

im not defending the west, i know they have their own evil deeds resulting from the capitalistic culture of profit-at-any-cost, but this problem is one of japan's, and they are no different, they will continue to hunt whales, to extinction if they have to, for profit, regardless of long-term impact. its capitalism.

  • @UnluckyGambler I understand and respect your civilness, and btw I am not a specialist in the matter so I will not pretend to know one way or another; but I just have such a hard time imagining such an uncommon meat product from an animal that is hunt only hunted in a limited time period annually by the Japanese to be done in such a irresponsible manner. (causing their extinction) In the meantime, isn't Bluefin Tuna much more urgent? People eat these and their populations must be protected.

  • @sidjtd overfishing is a pretty common problem throughout the world, same with deforestation, it has to be regulated, and it is also not uncommon that people break those regulations. whaling is vulnerable to the same problem, and there are those with evidence that the japs are over-whaling. thats what info i have, and it is not unbelievable.

  • @271207 To be 100% honest with you, I don't think the commercial people made a connection with it being a whale and the current whale situation. You have to remember that Japan is an insular country and the whale issue is not a big deal over there. Most people won't eat whales, and those that don't really can't care less about the people that do.

It'll be like India demanding the USA to stop eating Rocky Mountain Oysters.

  • Good

  • just great...

  • daaaaamn

  • WOWW

    i got goosebumps !!!

  • Fucking hell, those kids are better drawers than me! And I'm 14!

  • I dudditts... "Save the earl!"

  • i never knew the japanese ad council was as bad as ours

  • is this about not judging the kid, well if he didnt respond to their concerns, or answer what he was drawing about, to the point that hes in a hospital and then the result is the "big picture" i would say they were right to be concerned that the kid has autism or something. this isn't about judging too quickly this is about recognizing mental health issues.

  • Japanese people helping those with Autism? I think not.

  • land of über

  • Everyone was looking at each piece individually unlike the boy who saw the picture as a whole.....it you look at all the little flaws you can never see the whole perfection.

  • また懐かしいCMを。

  • I have really enjoyed this because I had a project to look at different psa's and this was a little different!

  • 很好的创意!

  • I imagine the costs of black crayolas to make this ad

  • now that is one huge picture.

  • yes thats what they want you to do. take a look at everything as a bigger picture, and u might see something more.

  • Hey, that really is offencive! i have autism and that does not mean that i am automatically a genius at art. I may have A+ grades in math in university, but that is besides the point!

  • Wow. Shine for Singapore too!

  • This ad is so nice! :D

  • Very inspring!

  • An elephant eaten by a snake:)

    Not a hut.

"le Petit Prince" Antoine de Saint...:p)

  • I think thats Pikachu+++a kitty ..

  • wow... just wow...

  • I really like this ad! Too many people want to think that just because one kid doesn't think like every other kid that there's something wrong with them. This is really cool!

  • Nah probably just a rabbit.

  • Hey Sean, it's Sean!

  • wad sean?

  • Is that a picture of Pikachu that the kid drew in 00:05?

  • Sure looks like it!
