Oh sorry. I didn't realize how many videos were named "First Try." Anyway, the username was Geriatric1927. I think its on page 4 or 5 of recently featured videos.
Sorry to clutter your page, but one more piece of advice: have an attractive "clip shot." On the Acousticore video I extended the credits, so the clip shot, which comes from the video frame exactly halfway through the video, was of the flowerpeople, not in the rainstorm sequence. In your case, don't have a book or other obstruction in front of your face directly halfway through your video.
thanks a bunch for accepting the Youtube Broadcast Yourself song as a reply. I've watched a bunch of videos seeking one to make it a response to. I felt that your End of Weirdness video was as perfect as it could get.
fascinating. really good points all across the board. it's a shame the length of your video will probably become a hindrance, simply because it is eight minutes, because it's really great... but that could be your next topic, people's new absolute lack of patience nowadays. our society seems to have a new need for instant gratification.
Thanks for that feedback, Mastern. Appreciate both the thought about the content, but greatly appreciate the opinion about length. What's your sense of the best length to encourage viewing?
It's really tough to say. I think we all want to encourage a thoughtful discussion on your part, but I think most videos that do well are around 2 minutes or so, although they can usually go as high as 3:30.
The Acousticore video was 3:52 and that was really pushing the outer edge, but the last thirty seconds were credits and coda. Also, not to offend you, but to place you into a genre of the older men of YouTube with thoughtful commentary, the "First Try" video that got a lot of press a few weeks back was 2:07 to give you an idea. Good luck with more videos!
No offense taken...obviously (!) I fit into the "older men" genre (not sure about the "thoughtful commentary" part!) Which "First Try" video do you mean?
Yes, no doubt the technology has enabled the communication, suttsteve. The social conditions have made USING the technology more acceptable to more of us.
Thanks for the comment. I really enjoy your videos, by the way.
Oh, and "de-weirding" is a really good word/phrase!

Oh yes, I've seen Peter's First Try vid. Just about all of his others are longer form, however. Which says nothing about your insight. Thanks.

Right, but still, the "First Try" video that got featured on YouTube was 2 minutes.
Mastern 5 years ago
Yup...good point.

Love your point of view. Now, what does your tee-shirt say?
lmirchin 5 years ago
Ah, the T-shirt says, "Thinking...so you don't have to." That's Ze Frank's closing line to just about every episode of, "The Show."
