  • My god...your cinematography is amazing! please consider a future in film making!!

  • It makes me cry when that happens to such a historical building. To srkkroh11, Get off of YouTube you worthless piece of crap.

  • I LIKE HISTORY... BUT THIS SHOOT WAS VERY GOOD KEEPING THIS LAST SCENARY OF PUDU JAIL IN MODERN HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY... I LIKE THIS VIDEO SHOOTING... MORE LIKE TV DOCUMENTARY ...(NATIONAL GEOGRAPHY PROBABLY...)

  • pudu jail is very old and not safe to living in. i support to demolish.pudu jail are very ugly and shit. ha ha ha.

  • should not be demolish.

Ths jail, seriously a history and bnyk kenangan for the ex inmates.ths jail ialah permulaan hidup seorang insan.

  • to give way towards the development of the nation's capital..

this sacrife isnt that worst compared to Malayans who had suffered their way through this Azkaban... The british built this for a reason.. and now.. there is no reason for them keep it alive..

Look in the bright side... We wanted independence.. we got it..

So we have to bear the consequences that it brings us...

  • WHAT A BIG BIG MAJOR MISTAKE!! If the gov is smart, they will regret this deeply in the future. Big regrets! They have no idea what they just did to this magnificent Colonial British architecture of more than a 100 years of history and heritage. How can people be so stupid? This demolition of such a heritage building is a BIG BIG MISTAKE and Im shocked and disappointed that there is little resistance to prevent this from happening.

  • @Seramics they are smart actually. they demolish this and open mega project which cost multi billion ringgit and half of it goes into their pocket. If you really check the background of the government post. all of them pretty much brainless anyway.

wonder why they didnt promote this plan to UK PM to demolish old castle and build mega projects too. lol

  • do you recomment this lens for 550d?is'nt it too noisy for videos?as i see its great for shots.!!how about videos?

  • fcuk the government .they shud hav preserve the building (turning it into a museum was a great idea wat~) n reconstruct/repaint or watever so it wouldve look presentable to the plancong n all that . .Shopping malls over 115y.o historical PUDU ..? ..How absurd.

  • man you should make a docu about this... lovely video. perfect example of people who care less about our heritage.

  • Can not remember anything,The most I remember is Botak Chin。

  • I ask you about,What you have photographed pictures often do not group?

  • can anybody explain to my why the wall had been to be demolished? it seems it had some cultural value.

    very well done video btw.

  • actually it was a famous place for execution of the 2 australian citizen for drug trafficking, if you know Kevin Barlow and Brian Chambers, they got hanged to death and was delivered a strong message to drug trafficker with the following message: DEATH FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING UNDER MALAYSIAN LAW, KNOW WHAT YOU CARRY, BE FOREWARNED.

  • Shit man. What kind of camera did you use? O_O

  • @OblivionDust737 I am using Canon 550D

  • It just goes to show we musnt take things for granted.

May the responsible ones go to hell.

  • How it looks like now when v pass by it again?

  • @chonghow86 well if you ask me when they announce... it was around the early days of 2010. And nothing happened since that announcement gave out.

  • @chonghow86 well to answer your questions... The government did do some promoting on newspapers. In the beginning there were people visiting, but that phenomena doesn't last long.

when the government announced the demolition of Pudu Jail, are there protests? Are there petitions going around? Is there anyone around to stand up and deny the idea of demolishing Pudu Jail? No! That's why the government doesn't even know the people is against the demolition!

  • so sad to watch this

  • VERY beautifully shot! I am pretty upset. Us, who live in KL, are so used to passing by this building.

We no longer able to take a glance at those beautiful painting on the wall when we go down the road, on our way to, pudu pasar, Sungei Wang, Timesquare, clubbing,... It's one of the buildings that has been, and will be branded on my mind.

I wanna say, WHY THE HELL DID THEY demolish those walls??!! They could have kept them like how they keep the freaking fort and cannon in Melaka! tsk!

  • best video

  • I loved this place. I really wanted to go inside the place. but i was told its not allowed. To make a mall over there is ridiculous. THIS IS JUST SAD!

  • Again with the already too late protest. What's the use COMPLAINING now? Should have act sooner, no?

    btw, good video editting @dickwoei

  • nice work, well edited ! enjoyed watching it.

the sad part is for money they will demolish any historical building in malayisa! Malaysia Boleh !

  • Very nice camera work and edit - I think your footage captures this even much better than any of the news teams - well done :)

  • malaysia government sucks!

don't know why they demolish this historical building....

  • @chonghow86 different people got different perception..live with it. = ) btw, there is still the entrance of pudu jail standing at there..go n snap a pic of u with it fast before they decided to remove it HISTORY LOVER! LoL.

  • what camera do u used to record, thanks

  • I love the way you took out the sound from the video when the crane was knocking the wall down, you sure know how to create emotions through videography :) Plus the song you used.. totally just sums up most of the feelings of us Malaysians now; sad, regretful, solemn over the 'death' of a historic wall. And the fact that you captured Malaysians humourous actions (people taking parts of the wall) was great. Good job done there!

  • @joannawongkaeling Thanks alot! :) I'm glad that silence part worked out, and it's always nice to have someone like you felt that bit of film language in it. Thanks again!

  • i dont care if they demolish this jail....

but when i see it i have a bad feeling...

  • what something that shouldn't be demolish already demolished. what's next?

  • My dance crew and I pass here to dance in the streets every month or so. Now this wonderful landmark is gone, what is left of the beauty in Pudu? Yeah, Malaysia memang boleh, ironically.

  • What a waste.....

Such historical building destroyed in just 1 night,

Will Malaysia be the same like Pudu Jail?

    50+years destroyed in 1 day?

  • this is "malaysia BOLEH" ma, they tot they very brilliant to do this......

  • LOL! They still want to build condominium there! =="

If build there liao sure no any chinese staying there!

  • They could have atleast kept that castle looking gate!

  • I seriously "VERY SAD" for what we are watching here.... What else our government going demolish some more... I never feel that this building is ugly in this town... Its always a 1 of the most beautiful building.... Its gone just like that now..... :(

  • Very nicely shot ! Like the background music too - may I know what it is ?

  • Whether the government is right or wrong about it, when people make noise now, it's useless. There is nothing more you can do about it. Just goes to show like what other users mentioned before, "You don't know what you got until it's gone"

At least the memory of Pudu Jail will remain in Youtube. I bet that sooner or later, people will forget about this video as well. As for me, there is only apathy.

  • Woei,love this video...认同你的说法,至少保留部份圍牆也好。。。现在已经全都没了!!!=(

  • DICK WOEI!! i'm here to support u too dick!! very very nice video!!

  • I'd like to say thank you to the creator and poster of this video. Definitely a good video. Its sad though that even during the building's lifetime hardly anyone thought anything of it, but now that its being demolished everyone's suddenly speaking up.

  • @ququbert You're welcome. :)

  • Funny..... when its here ,nobody say anything n when its going down, so many ppl say so many thing..... Do u think that ppl would b proud to say they did their time in Pudu Jail??? I DOUBT IT....

  • how much 100 years we hv?reli dunot wat they thinking...

  • The government said that Pudu jail is not a heritage site because, its jail, theres nothing to be proud of about it. Well then why are they keeping the A Famosa? Its proof that how once a glorious empire got overturned overnight. Is that something to be proud of?

Destroying it to make way for development was uncalled for. Im not saying to just left the building rot, theres alot stuff u can do it, like museums, recreational purposes, etc. Its jail in a middle of a city, u dont see that everyday.

  • Might as well just blow up the whole of Malaysia why don't we :S

  • good, it will now giv way to the other development, stop whining all you haters. you are bloodsucker too you know. do us a favor, go kill urself.

  • 115 years gone in 1 night...

  • they will regret their stupid desicion one day.

  • @greeniehorn I agree

  • 100 years........!就这样没了.......

  • coz it located at Golden Triangle in KL city.. expensive land

  • sigh...now only i know that, i never took a photo of it while i ady 25 years living in malaysia....=(...sad...this is one of the heritage sit ein malaysia...how could the gov decided to demolish it????

  • No more history in KL..... which place next? Melaka? Penang???

  • national palace & parliament house next?

  • why not move somewhere else to archive it. It such a waste for this piece of art.

  • we've certainly set our priorities wrong..wats next? sad day..

  • 感怀神伤.

  • Free the ghost of prisoners!

  • Najib is old, can we demolish him too?

  • @jchanel04 LOL!!

  • stupid goverment......don't want to keep Pudu Jail..Pudu Jail is a historical places...:D

  • Hm... Malaysia government does not know cultural value and root.

  • kinda emotional while watching this,

    anyway,awesome video !

  • a historic place finally being torn down.

  • stupendous video=)

  • This is sad, I used to walk by Pudu Jail every weekends, and now that I'm away from the country, it's saddening that I'm not able to say farewell to it. Lovely video btw.

I still think the government should keep it as a heritage site instead of creating more jam and havoc by building more malls... =.=

  • Feel sad for this. Why don't keep it?

  • the video is amazing, i must say your camera skills are incredible! brilliant work at capturing the exact emotions of the Malaysians

  • @Hamjay Thanks for the compliments Hamjay! :)

  • Thank to the production...Thx u very much !

  • @EdisonChoe Thanks! :)

  • Dunno why, I feel sad...... feel like, there is something breaking, losing from my heart too...... =(

  • sad to say this prison was once home to the notorious botak chin and the mural painting not to mention is worth more than the building should be its priceless...kinda sad to see how some ppl just dont understand the meaning of old is gold *sigh*

  • wreck in peace

  • Do not what to say... Sad and feel that there should be another better way to improve the traffic jam, instead of tearing down the historic building :-(. Hope the govt can at least keep the door of Pudu Jail for memory..

  • It stood for over a century and it took minutes to tear it down...sigh...

  • @SapphireBombay Exactly!

  • great shots and nicely done video....somehow i feel kinda nostalgic watching this video, even for a prison =|

  • Nice video. I didn't expect this to happen, just found out about it. One day it's there, another day, gone.

  • tearing up watching this... =\

  • haiz..feel sad..

  • any 1 hv any feeling?><

  • all have any feeling?lolz ><

  • ish ish EOS 550D..u are rich>_<

  • that is a nice video u have made out there,

at least it can still preserve in digital form

  • i pass by pudu jail almost every morning last time when i go to school. now it's gone. i can't describe how i feel right now.

  • im gonna miss it : (

Everytime im goin to TS sure walk beside the Jail : (

  • this is a beautiful video... da background music stop at 1:40 and my heart sank....

  • A stretch of 300m of Asphalt wouldnt mean anything to the country..

A stretch 300m of Iconic and Historical building is something to the country..

  • dont know how to say my feelings...Iv seen these walls since Im young and suddenly it have to make way...got no words...government thinks its is should be demolish...welll..................................

  • this is simply sad. I used to live in bukit bintang area when i was a kid. I was so little, when i was in car, mostly what i always look forward was passing by the tall walls of pudu jail. It was even more beautiful back then. My mom once told me the man who did the drawing on the wall literally uses his fingers tip to create the leaf effect on trees for the entire huge wall. This brings back so much memory. Its a ashamed that its demolished. Very nice video buddy. Thank you for uploading. :)

  • sad, at least they could have preserve some of its structure like the gate. Transport it and place it in a museum or somewhere

  • stupid goverment~willing to destroy a historic building..den get away Sejarah as a compulsory subject on Spm,malaysian study on ipt la~

  • Get ready Parliament...you could be next in line...

  • i dont know why it had to go down

  • simply just describe that the government had demolished a 110 years old historic building which was built way before World War II.

there were so many important history behind it which we all should treasure it for the next & next generation. do you think it should be destroy to end the story then to build another commercial building or the smart Government should restore it to TIP-Top condition so will be more pleasant as another tourist attraction?

(since it's in the heart of city)

  • fuck the bloody goverment!!!!!!!!!

  • Indeed, nice cinematography!

  • too bad when money comes first..the prison should be kept as a heritage site no matter how valuable it is..as it has its own memories..but now, when they are too excited to build more and more shopping malls in the-already-packed-with malls kuala lumpur, it's like they lose they consideration..

and then they ask why we malaysians are forgetting our own history...

  • its just sad to loose a historical site in the middle of the city...pudu jail has been apart of KL, thogh unappreciated through its existence?

  • speechless to Malaysia~~~ Malaysia always willing to destroy a memorial building to build a new building!!!

  • Nicely done. so damn clear the video.. Thanks..

  • love this video.

everyday passed-by Pudu Jail was like nothing to me.

    but after watching this video,

Pudu Jail seems to be in apart of my memories.

i will share this video to all my friends.

    thanks dickwoei.

  • @yanjun06285 I have the same feeling like you... Thanks for sharing yanjun! :)

  • @dickwoei By the way, kudos to the person who edited this video. :) It's extremely well done. Are you a professional videographer?

  • @madscientist90 Thanks! I shot and edited this piece. :)

  • @dickwoei It's very beautiful. :) I love how you used such a melancholic tune to make it sound so lonely and cold, and how you muted some parts to magnify the impact and gravity of the situation. It feels like I'm watching something out of a well-directed movie. :)

  • @madscientist90 Thanks for the nice words! "a well-directed movie" is hell a huge compliment to me! And that silence part, thanks again for pointed that out. I'm sure you have a great sense in film-making, or else you must be big fans of cinema.

  • @dickwoei Well, in truth, I've never recorded something and then edited it this way before in my life. xD I've watched many inspiring videos to know how good ones should be made. And, as for watching movies... nah, I'm not much of a movie-goer. I just know how to bend the elements in film making to suit my whims. Study what others do and then adapt it in your work, that's how I get by. :) In any case, I'm glad to have come across this video. Cheers, mate. :)

  • @yanjun06285 i cant help but agree...whenever i pass by...jus feel its nthg but some old buildings...well ~ now its gone..lets jus hope the future development is worth it ~

  • awesome cinematography. very nice job. the music goes along perfect.

this building was from the 1800's for goodness sake. why demolish something that has so much history and value to be replaced with a building that KL already has hundreds of. its just sad of the government to not think it through. they just want $ and more $ i bet.

  • this is very stupid motive to demolish the heritage just to make way for offices. Who will wants to work in this haunter place?? The goverment shd keep it as heritage use it as museum to attract more tourist.....stupid action!! almost all heritage in town has been torn to ground just cause of this stupid brainless action ...

  • @chengbear77

it really isnt all that stupid.im up for the whole preserving historical valued heritages, but what 'tourists' would come solely to visit some prison in kl.its hardly that famous.im sure 'hauntings' arent deciding factors, therefore, the bureaucrats i reckon have calculated that expanding a business hub n further development of the road system is more profitable than a make belief national heritage attraction. although, preserving SOME iconic parts of the prison is necessary.

  • I bet this coverage is better than TV3's 999 or Majalah3

  • whoa, awesome video. seriously.

  • Oh my god !! Is it really captured by camera ?? The quality is similar with video recorder @@ Really a good quality and amazing capture

  • @snakespider90 DSLR HD video is awesome! Thanks to Canon... :P

  • Oh my god !! Is it really captured by camera ?? The quality is similar with video recorder @@ Really a good quality and amazing capture

  • how am i going to know my directions from now on? always used the jail as my orientation point.. lol

  • very good quality video... keep it coming

  • nice video man, I love it!

  • nice video......its really ....up sad......older than anyone in malaysia....good bye jail....good bye history!!!

  • @hebepipi I like what you said "older than anyone in malaysia..." haha~ thats true...

  • Beautifully done. When I was a kid, my mom always lied to me saying that if I was a bad boy they'd send me here. Since it was abandoned, I always thought it was haunted too. Really sad that they did this

  • thanks to the author of this video. I love this. Pudu Jail was in the history now.

The Government seems like does not cherish the memory inside that.

  • i hear new (false o true, i don't know) got company want buy land of Pudu jail so, government demolish this jail for sale....

Seem government short of money....(allow legal gamble football & no longer help reduce cost of sugar , oil in future)

  • @renrenying WHAT LA YOU ALWAYS HAVE BAD IMPRESSION ONE.

  • my hypothesis is that the person who complain about Pudu jail not being a heritage building is the person who never used Jalan Pudu in their daily commute.

  • I am at overseas now, I was shock when my friend sent this link to me. It has been a landmark! I went to school I saw it, I went home I saw it, I went watching movies and shopping I saw it. Goodbye my little Jail......

  • Excellent video quality! Love it! And awesome editing too! I wish I had more thumbs, but 2 thumbs up!

And yeah, there goes another historical monument.

  • @fever003 Thank you! :)

  • Satu Najib Satu Najis

  • Hope they are not foolish enough to demolish the A'Famosa one day...

  • Good job man!!

  • what a waste! that was one of the records that malaysia broke the longest mural wall painting..... it was suppose to be preserved for our great grandchildrens !

  • @jellynation ya it was in guieness books of record according to the star!
