they all came from girlie bubble gum bands, they all sound the same, with better editing you could of made it sound like one long hairsprayed laden solo. they all just continued what eddie van halen started. even his solo's start to sound the same after a few.
@TheYing0812 I think what he's trying to get accross is that what a lot of modern metal players lack is any real flair. modern solo's are all fast, all agressive, where this type of music is great for dynamics and soaring melody. For me, dimebag is a great bridge between these two styles. you get me?

Roger Fisher from Heart is never credited for Barracuda or Magic Man. He has gotten more exposure for sleeping with Nancy Wilson than his lead guitar.
I was gonna let you away with most of these but John Petrucci and Paul Gilbert under-rated? They are on the covers of most guitar mags and have been for the last 20 years :p Guys like Reb Beach I can agree with - he's always been great and not many ppl know him except guitarists into the melodic rock. Becker had plenty exposure but sadly lost his ability at a young age so ppl were never gonna hear of him - same with Shawn Lane.

You missed 3 people - Tommy Shaw of Styx, Ace Frehely of Kiss and that dude from Blue Oyster Cult who did the solo on their song Take Me Away. That was a great solo.

I think Reb Beach was definately a good choice but... i have t o disagree with John petrucci, paul gilbert, zakk wylde, and george lynch underrated... I would consider someone like Guthrie Govan "Under rated" I know it would be pushing it, but even Blackmore in my opinion. Good list nonetheless but I don't really think they're underrated since i recognized all but the first guitarist :P

well since most of who you have in this video are known by many world wide, I think it's safe to say they really arent under rated. 1 guitarist who has been a huge influence of mine on the other hand is vastly under rated, George Puleo of Gamalon. run a search for "Gamalon - Bleecker Street - Aerial View" and "Gamalon - UFO - Aerial View".

Zakk Wylde didn't follow Randy Rhoads, that was Jake E. Lee. See? He belonged on the list and you didn't give him any credit. A shredder who came in and saved a rock band and got hated on for it was Vinnie Vincent. Those two definitely qualify as under appreciated.
How was the guitar player for Europe under rated?
Roger Fisher from Heart is never credited for Barracuda or Magic Man. He has gotten more exposure for sleeping with Nancy Wilson than his lead guitar.

I was gonna let you away with most of these but John Petrucci and Paul Gilbert under-rated? They are on the covers of most guitar mags and have been for the last 20 years :p Guys like Reb Beach I can agree with - he's always been great and not many ppl know him except guitarists into the melodic rock. Becker had plenty exposure but sadly lost his ability at a young age so ppl were never gonna hear of him - same with Shawn Lane.

I would say Petrucci and Wylde are not underrated.However, Henk var der Laars(even his mother doesn't know him,but man can he play the guitar!!!!)and mr.Jarzombek are......and of course Marty friedman would fit in there.....the most melodic guitarist ever.Others???? Macalpine, Chastain, the guys from Phycotic Waltz, and of course SHAWN LANE.....ULI JON ROTH!!!!

I think Reb Beach was definately a good choice but... i have t o disagree with John petrucci, paul gilbert, zakk wylde, and george lynch underrated... I would consider someone like Guthrie Govan "Under rated" I know it would be pushing it, but even Blackmore in my opinion. Good list nonetheless but I don't really think they're underrated since i recognized all but the first guitarist :P

Betterncourt and Zakk Were never underrated... The rest I never even knew by name till now. So good job on that, but I gotta ask where's Bill Liberty of Firehouse, and Warren DiMartini of Ratt... Or The dude from Warrant. Mick Mars too, even tho must of the guys on list are probably poor and bald by now, and Mick well is rich and bald ... He still deserves a spot, his skills are never mentioned, its all Tommy this and Nikki That, and Vince is gay... and so forth.

barry bailey is easily the most underated guitar player ever. when a musical genius like ronnie van zant says your 1 of the best ever. good enough for me. i'll bet 98% of the people posting here, never even heard of barry bailey. the best pinch harmonic player ever. great tone, clean clear guitar licks. ask anyone who plays guitar seriously. they will tell you just how good he is.

How appropriate that Becker would whip out a yo-yo in the middle of his solo. Yes Jason, I'm as bored by your playing as YOU apparently were at that moment. I've witnessed as much emotion, originality, & intensity coming from a sous-chef dicing onions. What a total dullard on the instrument. To all the wannabee shredders on this video...Do yourselves a favor. Watch Joscho Stephan play "Django's Tiger" on an acoustic. Then get back to me.

how about david gilmour? he may not be a shredder, but NOBODY can say more with a guitar than he can, and only floyd fans know of him. from what i just saw, id say jason becker is better than steve vai. yet ive never even heard of him. and zakk wylde and petrucci??? there not under rated at all. if anything they are over rated.

#10.....WTF..... hahaha stupid nips trying to copy the "hair sound" of the American bands of the 80's. That made me laugh by balls off, it was terrible. Funny thing is it looks really old too, wierd. Certain things just shouldn't be done in music, especially mixing "hair metal" and whatever the hell those Japs were doing.
