This hippo is a PIG. Look, he gives him grass...the hipp chews a little and then opens his mouth back up, expecting more, yet he still hasn't eaten the grass in his mouth. And then, he drops some grass out of his mouth on purpose and waits for the human to give him fresh stuff. Kinda smart.

Hippos are absolutely gorgeous (witness the pygmy baby hippo here on YouTube also!). Too bad these magnificent animals have such tempers and are so terribly dangerous to be around. I believe they're the #1 animal to kill humans every year in Africa.

IDK about that alot of us are pretty fat lol. Have you ever REALLY looked around, I am big but I am not considered OBESE like alot of these fat fucks walking around. But no they get so much fat because they CONSTANTLY eat. They eat up to 900lbs of food a day and their bodies have to store all of that intake somewhere.

It is because they eat so much of it that it has to go some place. One their body reaches the maximum amount of nutrients it can use then it stores it as fat. That is how they live off of fat reserves when food is in short supply. So they over eat all of the time and since their body can't absorb all of the nutrients it puts them into a fat reserve.

i really love hippos, when i was little i used to call them hippo-ma-potus-ins, haha i got the hippo part right. my dad always says i would be good at doing something like this and this has inspired me so much to make my career in wild zoo animal care. ive always loved animals but hippos are at the top of my list.

Yeah I'm sure a big help is that he had food for them. And the fact that hippos aren't meat eaters (going in a cage to feed lions or crocodiles would be dangerous because they might go for the person as a food source!).

These hippos also are probably used to this feeding routine, whereas humans coming too close to hippos in the wild frighten and surprise them.

I really love the opening of this video where they come out of the water. They are beautiful animals.

Wow I thought it'd be too dangerous to be that close to hippos. And especially touching and petting them! I know they're in a zoo setting instead of in the wild at a river bank. But still, I didn't realize it would be safe to do that. Isn't there still a chance a hippo could get scared or angry for a brief moment and attack?

That's true... I already knew that hippos are dangerous, so it was surprising to see them eating directly from the hand of the caretaker.
