@mysticsunshine1979 I don't see why not. Just make sure the bucket is big enough so they can't jump out. If you do just let them go, there's nothing stopping them from running back into your house.

@Hgreene1130 Yes there is. Release them over a block away... and block your holes. Traps are a band aid solution if you don't prevent them from coming in in the first place.

If this is going outside in cold weather put some RV antifreeze in the water - they can walk on ice obviously. RV antifreeze is made for camper water systems and is non toxic so no problem if another animal drinks the water, such as your dog. Auto antifreeze is toxic to animals (like we care about the mice but it's not nice when your pet gets it)

You ever see a mouse after it gets caught in a snap trap, flopping around & trying to get away? Not a pretty sight.

Best thing about this trap over snap traps is that it can catch a whole bucket load of mice. A snap trap only works once, and then it needs to be reset.

Don't fool yourself getting caught up in this nonsense where you have reservations about how they're being dispatched. If they had the chance, a mouse would kill you & every one you ever cared about.

@TheGamblingApocalyps That highly unreliable story where the mother is so ludicrously negligent and the story doesn't quite logically pan out? The cries of the child would scare them off - if there was any "gnawing", then it'd happen after the child was dead. It seemed that the child died of an unrelated cause (look up SIDS).

Doubt it'd die of being "gnawed to death", seeing as people would be alerted to any screaming/crying. It would take a while for it to happen.
