I've got 4 QM-309 fully expanded and two Polymorphs to play live at partys those days but golden era of techno has gone and no i've got only two QM-309 and one polymorph to got pleasure making something in my spare time :)
Another Quasimidi box I bought as soon as it came out. It's a nice machine to play around with but despite its direct-access and groovebox setup, it has a number of flaws that make it difficult to use for live gigs, for ex. MIDI problems during pattern changes, etc. Sound is okay, even though it can't hold a candle to most current grooveboxes. Sold mine after a year and never looked back.
i will get this baby next week, wanna combine it with my rs7000 for some dirty and hard techno (berlin needs it...the kids here have never been beyond 125bpm)
One of these little beast just fell into my lap from a very dusty garage. So I thought I'dlook up some tunes made with it. Yours are by far the most digestible. Thanks for keeping it techno. This thing sound good. Always wanted to check one out but pretty rare in Australia from memory.
We must have a fluke model. We have ours synced up to our Ableton/laptop system as a peripheral MIDI device and it stays in perfect sync all night long! The light or LED is out on the LC display however. This is STILL a wonderful device for live performance.
Some of Aphex's kitlist: Raveolution 309 Raven Max MC-909 limited edition Quasimidi Van Helden MAM Freebass 383 Roland DJ-70 E-15 SP-808 Akai S3200 Behringer MX602A all the Behringer effects that copy other things He's also rumored to use Ableton & enjoys the LiveSlice plugin to edit his beats.
could you recommed a machine as i'm a house producer and looking to add to my hardware. I have an RS7000 and a Virus. RS7000 is brill for drums and sampling but looking for something with some dirty basses and melodys.
Hardly... those are great machine but they are not the end all be all of drum machines. What about a Jomox 888 or even xbase 09? What about all the old Rolands!! What about an MPC loaded with some amazing drum samples?
The old Rolands are decent. The 909 is a little stale for my taste. I love the 808, though it could be argued that it, too, is stale. Judging solely by YouTube demonstrations, I agree that the Speccy, Machinedrum, and 999 are top-notch, but the 888 is also very worthy of a spot on that list.
Man I'm not sure how many times I've watched or commented on this vid, but every time I come back I still love it. There's such a nice groove to it and the sounds are so nice. Go and buy another one so I can hear more. :)
I had 2 of these. One got damaged, the other stolen. I bought a Sirius but it wasn't as good, for me. I miss my 309. I can still remember some of the patterns!
@klausito1970 What effect did this have on your 309??? I am seriously considering getting the OS3 if it will fix the "skip" bug it has.... you know? how it kind of jumps for a split second when you change parts???? Did OS3 solve that bug for you??? I would GREATLY appreciate the information...... otherwise, i would be selling this as I need a solid "LIVE PERFORMANCE" groovebox... thanks :)

Thanks for sharing the Raveolution 309 as a stand alone device. I'm sure you already know how difficult it is to find on audio samples on the net due to its discontinuation.
"I share my love between my wife and my techno gears, but I do not share my techno gears with my wife!! " .....love this 309 demo!!! want the 309 so badly... some months and one will be my. this gear makes me slobber, in every point of view!! nasty oldschool gear
I'd like to hear that 505 stuff. I have a 505 and am considering getting a QM309. I like a really harsh distorted sound. My ability to compose is pretty minimal. So far I create really chunky and ugly sounding slow techno that the heavily distorted kick modulates square wavish when it hits. Would the 309 be any good at this sound? How does the 309 sequencer compare to the 505's, especially the Megamix? Lastly... most importantly what's a good price for a 309 in 2008?
i gave £ 120.00 for the first one with no power supply , blew that up and paid a further £ 250.00 for a second and sed the front pannel off the old on the base of the new as the new had had a good life with its own power supply so reasonable money to pay for someone with any common sence would be anything from £100 - 300 but i spose its down to how many owners want to part with, but crunch crunch is one way to describe the sound ? yet probably a simular sound off pc software? good luck ?
If you like to create minimal stuff with harsh sounds then that beast is made for you. Nothing to do with MC505, the 309 filters sounds analog and are sharp like a 303, there are enough synthesis paramaters for sculpting the numerous perc sounds as you should like. The sequencer is bugged but there is a special groove that I couldn't find in my stiff MC505. I really love that machine and I will buy a second one very soon for 300 euros (with all exp)

could someone please tell me is this compatible with the use of Logic Pro?
ChosenOneJew 2 years ago
ive checked with one of my friends and he says its compatible. BUT...you have to download a certain patch for logic.
if you just google "quasimidi rave patch"
then you should find it,. or look on the utorrents.

if you're looking for something new and alil cheaper go with the korg EMX its pretty good, it has synths and drums

#1 Radikal Spectralis
#2 Elektron Machinedrum
#3 Jomox 999.
Everything else is crappy dude.
Study and read about this and you will find out which one is for you kind of music.
They are the top of the line.
I own a spectralis and im very happy with.
Good luck.

haha what a joke, you judge music equipment with your ears, not your eyes.
In the right hands, a Casio is top notch. Go away and learn a bit more yourself before judging.
