if you get the iphone with your existing service agreement, the phone would be unlocked once your contract ends. your contract could be 1 1/2 years or just 2 weeks.

if it is that short of the contract left, they would be giving you an unlocked iphone for about a third of what people pay for the unlocked iphone on the internet.

they must sell it at an unlocked price so neither apple or At&t loses money.

dude about 3 weeks ago my old phone broke, and i was in love with iphone so i was really hyped to get it, but wen i was going over its features and everthing, that turned me down. the look and stuff, yes it looks good and i can get one very easily if i wanted one, but i think its a waste of money. u may think diffrent. but this is the way i think.

I just bought a brand new Iphone 3G 8 gig and have it unlocked to use with T-mobile using a Gevey 3G Turbo Sim card. I loooove my iphone and T-mobile works great with it.

They will do that because if your contract isn't expired you get charged to get out of your contract early. Which is a horrible idea

Just to let you know, it isn't just at&t, early upgrade fees are used all over the world, Its completely normal, and they should let you off because you bought an iPhone 3g? No. Just because iPhone 3g customers bought doesnt mean they should be let off the early upgrade fee. Everyone knows apple will update any product regularly if it sells well; so you should be prepared to pay the upgrade fee, or live with your old phone. Same as everyone else........

Apple, imo is not a very good company, i can't say their computers are bad, since they run on almost the same hardware, their OS is not useful to everyone so they claim, plus the iPhone seems to brittle, Apple in general seems to brittle, just my view on Apple.
