  • really mouth watering......

  • Thank you very much, I am learning new dishes to cook by watching ur Video

  • dude i love u always u r a life saver

  • Another way Curd rice can taste like a million dollar dish is by adding rice , salt and little curd ,ginger, green chillies in the mixe . mix it till 2-3 rounds in the blender. garnish . It will taste the best in the world.

  • adding fried nuts(cashew, almonds) and soaked sultana's/black currents make it rich n tasty,,, my mom's tip n my hubby loves it,,,

  • LOL, something tells me his definition of "little" is very different from ours.

  • @Uglyze0l0t I would say that is definitely the case. Then again, the food is never too hot for him, and it may be explosive for anyone else. It's all a matter on how you look at things! Nice point!

  • To make it a more veggie flavour , add grated cuccumber and carrot to the rice.

  • My mom used to make all of these dishes for me, but she is gone now. Thank you Vachchef for reteaching me all these flavors there is nothing better than a south indian home-cooked meal.

  • I did not realize that it can be so simple. Thanks chef.

  • i like it. wow r wow.

  • chef adding of few pepper corns in the tempareing it taste even more when we eat........

  • i'm a North Indian, pls don't mind their comments, the North Indians have forgot that they wash their ass with hands !

  • @wadhwagurjit : man u got a point , but we wash with the left hand and eat with the right hand ....phhh man we got to teah these guys everything ...

  • @aneejthomas , stupid idiot, you don't eat / wash / do anything with what your hand wants or what you want, it's the brian the decides which and will do what, you better know why sehwag is left and sachin is right hands batsmen, sehwag's mommy didn't tell him beta left se khelo, it's the brain, and for sure idiot you don't have any brains

  • @wadhwagurjit :Wow so some one knows that he has got a left and a right hand.... dude brain tell which hand u just wiped your ass with so use the other hand to to indulge in cooking where need be. One more thing , guess u use forks an spoons so u use 1 hand and 2 feet to handel them..:)

just asked mate.. from the looks of it someone is just professing he is so neat.. come on man go brush your teeth and go to sleep... Finally, the cook looks neat else wont have that much courage to air it on TV

  • @wadhwagurjit : Also man , this is one area where everyone is ambidextrous....:) Man i cant teach u everything... grow up....

  • Dear Chef,

    Namaskaram

Thank you for posting this ancient recipe. It is a truly a divine dish. It is especially good with a side of fresh mango slices. Sometimes, for extra Vah, we also mix grated or small cubes of seedless cucumber at the end and garnish with finely grated raw carrots. When asked for advice on healthy vegetarian eating I recommend your videos. Blessings.

  • Pardon my rude language guys - this jerk asked for it - and if he/she's the tiniest bit sensible, he/she will be ashamed of speaking further and will not resort to insulting and derogatory comments about another person whom he/she does not personally know, and therefore has no right to judge and stereotype.

Newsflash: You defy humanity. What an achievement - it will take you places in life you've never wished to be in. For next time, treat people the way you want to be treated.

  • People like you are the reason our country is torn into pieces. Therefore, once I have passed this message on to you and every other jerk who's like you, I refuse to employ my capabilities in trying to demoralize your character further. You did a pretty darn good job with that in the first place.

  • What a fcuking disgrace to humanity. Maybe your North Indian parents forgot to teach you how to respect other people's differences and be tolerant towards other cultures. I pity your family - you bring disgrace to their upbringing, their sacrifices and the values they have tried so hard to inscribe in you. What a waste of life - you're a menace to society. Sorry, although I'm a North Indian myself and because I consider all of India to be united, you don't deserve to be called an Indian.

  • South Indian girls are always dieng to marry north Indian boys and South Indian boys are always dying to marry north indian girls !!! Hahahahaha.....

South india is such rubbish ! They are dravidians they came from Africa.

  • @Nothindians : Did you know ?

First Man/Woman in space is a NORTH INDIAN

First Defense minister of India is a NORTH INDIAN

First Indian to climb Mt. Everest is a NORTH INDIAN

Father of Fibre Optics is a NORTH INDIAN

OWNERS OF VARIOUS MULT-NATIONAL COMPANY IS A NORTH INDIAN

Founder of Indian National Army is a NORTH INDIA

90% of India top 10 doctors are North Indians.

Theres no South India contribution, they are busy tying their lungi and eating food. They are such greedy for food.

  • @SouthIndians : They are a big disrespect to the Indian community. They are anti-social people who do not mix up with anyone. They stick to themselves. They call themselves educated yet they cant speak english properly and nor they know how to spell most common words in english. Such an insult to Indian culture. rubbish crap people.

  • @SouthIndians : In order to get part-time job, south indians students beg to their bosses that they have no money to feed their family and they cry. This is how they get jobs and this is how they are spread everywhere like cockroaches.

  • @SouthIndians : Students from south india who come and study in foreign countries :

    1) Cut hair by themselves in bathrooms to save money.

    2) They never wash their clothes to save laundry money.

3)The bath only 1 time in 3 days. They never use deodrant and they smell all the time of spices.

4)They wear f#@$3 lungi all the time.

  • @SouthIndians : You have no table manners, because even though chapatti is meant to be eaten with hands. Rice is NOT. This is why there is a spoon and fork available to eat them. I have seen south indians being kicked out of restaurants because they had no table manners.

  • @SouthIndians : First of all in education. your children are only good in memorizing textbooks and filling exam papers, but you guys have no intelligence.

People from Kerala, Andhra Pardesh, Tamil Naidu do everything to go abroad and they clean the toilets of foreign people there. I have seen with my own eyes.

  • Crazy South Indian accent

  • it would be better if u use coconut in this...... it taste great.......

  • @ triple :southindians have no table manners? south indians are better educated, and way more hygenic (statistically).. and please.... u guys in the north r the dirtiest bunch ive come across... AND WHEN IT COMES TO MANNERS OF ANY SORT u northindians have absolutely none... u guys r so pathetiic tht im kinda sorry for u.

  • @vidyavv87 who told you south indians are more educated? Just by getting degrees from shit-quality colleges and memorizing history paragraphs and wearing big eye-glasses doesnt make you well educated.

First Man & Woman in space : North India

All the big contributions came from North India.

You guys have no table manners. Show me one North Indian working has driver / maid in foreign countries. All the drivers / house maids come from south india. If you talk abotu dirty.

  • @ALL THE SOUTH INDIANS : Yes parathas, chapatis, pizza, burger they are eaten with hands directly. But Noodles, Rice, Spaghetti, Soup , are not eaten with hands. How can you mix rice and yoghurt in a restaurant infront of everyone and litter your fingers and then talk ont he phone at sametime. Very VERY ILLITERATE. DIRTY SOUTH INDIAN CRAP.

  • made this recipe, I'm 18 years old, white scottish guy :P

My parents loved it, thanks for this!

  • @Skylinerev I have faced few issues as an Indian in the UK but people like u also prove that there are always people with good heart with a willingness to accept people from different community. Thanks u loved an Indian food receipe mate..

  • to TripleKanwar---can you define table manners?? even your family ate with hands back into the past because all starten to eat with fork and spoon does not mean that you have table manners...and it taste best like that:) maybe you don't know indien culture... but anyway, chef your dishes look good:.

  • im not saying that there is anything wrong with cooking with your hands.

but i magine eating rice and mixing with your hands in your plate with curry... and putting all four fingers in your mouths licking and eating... south indians have no table manners, .......

  • @TripleKanwar Do you know how parathas, chapatis, naans, etc are eaten? With hands, in case you have forgotten? It is far better than eating a chicken's or sheep's dead body anyday!

  • Love your videos, and your cooking, I'm new doing this kind of food... can you please put the ingredients in writing so I can found them in the store...Thanks a lot

  • Great recipe!!! I also add coconut and coconut milk. Thanks a lot. I love your videos.

  • U r really inspiring!!

  • waw.... nice.. gonna try.... u r amazin...

expecting more and more from you..... you are just telling everything to us... like a lovly teacher....

    thanks....

  • waw.... nice.. gonna try.... u r amazin...

  • I love all the recipes of Vahchef. Thanks a lot for an authentic recipe in an authentic method.

Nothing wrong in using hand, as this is a traditional southindian recipe. Also God gave you hands before giving spoons and forks..

  • God gave you spoons and forks. you are so disgusting.... and your indi accent

  • @TripleKanwar Curd rice and rasam rice taste best when the rice is mashed with the hands. There's nothing disgusting about using your hands to cook provided you wash your hands first. What's wrong with his accent?

  • does not look great mixing with hands...in the video you can use spoon and give viewers the alternate option to use hands if they like!

  • I like the way he cooks to taste...no measurements. It's 'old-school' cooking...the way I was taught and still cook. And there is nothing wrong with using clean hands to cook. People 'sanitize' themselves to death. I LOVE Indian food.

  • Add a t-spoon of paste of cumin, green chilli n ginger paste to the tempering!and crushed pepper!!It tastes n smell same as what u get in temples..:)

    A small variation..

  • actually a good chef use his hands as a tool, i dont see anything wrong with that,i love indian food !!!!!

  • If you are thinking about making this dish, please do yourself a favor, get a good greek yogurt(thick kind) from your grocery store, and a can or jar or PICKLED jalapeno peppers and follow this recipe for a REALLY heavenly food.

  • Sanjay, If you add a few chopped lemon leaves to the 'curd rice' it gives that mint fresh taste in your mouth.

  • thanqu sanjay..u r really helping me lot

  • use fried cashwenuts and raisins dude

  • I love it. Your wife is truly lucky to be married to you.

  • Hello sir Can you please give me your restaurant's address, If I get a chance I 'll sure eat there.....

  • I hate curd. It's sooo nasty. I'm Indian :P

  • thanx for the recipe.I really like curd rice & iwill try it soon.

    you r an amazing chef

  • I love curd rice but becoz of weight issues, I have stopped eating it. Excellent tip to add cream... can cook for friends who are thin!! :) thanks!

  • @nashmoviefreak , Why dont you add water to the curd and make curd rice.

  • Sir, in karnataka, i have seen people adding pomogranate seeds and sometimes even seedless green grapes.. that also tastes good.

  • south indian food from andhra pradesh, madras and karnataka is ultimate. only few rajastani and punjabi can barely match up to it. love you curd rice lol

  • Yogurt is an important part of an indian meal because is has cooling properties and the bacteria in yogurt cleanse your digestive tract (this is especially necessary because indians eat a lot of pungent spicy food). South Indians typically end their meal with yogurt and rice.

  • Hi Chef, Can you please show us how to make "Raagi Balls". I love them having with sambhar

  • You are amazing sir. I like the way you inspire and present in your videos. Please teach us more on non-veg dishes as well.

  • hey i think adding black pepper to the seasoning would be much better and one more thing u can even add grapes r pomogranate seeds for garnishing it really taste's yummmyyyyy...

  • just love ur recipes..they turn out so good...I keep trying new stuffs from net..but this is one show where I am so sure that I will not fail..thanks a ton vahchef..u r any day better than Sanjeev Kapoor

  • Why so muchhhhhhhhhhh ghee for tempering???

  • I'm newly married and am always on the look out for ways to impress my husband with my culinary skills...he totally fell for this one! We had it twice last week!

Thanks so much for this recipe...I've always loved curd rice (my comfort food too!), now I've learnt how to make the perfect dish, perfectly!

  • yougurt is really great

  • chef

you always mention you like something crunchy in the foods.

    i Have a suggestion.

In the palghat area from kerala , the Iyers add the small cruchy stuff called "marthangalikai" ins tead of tempering with mustard seeds ets..

all we do is to temper with Marhthangalikai or Chudakai. both have a nice salty crunchy taste. the chundakai also has slight bitter taste.which is great for Thairy ssadam

hope you get to try it.

  • Most of us eat dead animals, moldy cheese, fungus, pesticides, and countless other "disgusting" things. Why in the world would we be squemish about mixing food with our hands? Pretty funny!

  • @dylebob1 - Thats right. Only thing to remember is just to make sure your hands are clean :). And you know what? Indians generally tend to feel the food while cooking - it increases the taste somehow - lol. In fact, I have noticed that whenever you cook something with passion you tend to use your hand (ofcourse wherever possible) for mixing. I have observed this in my favorite chef - Mr Oliver as well.

  • @dylebob1

    Nice thought.... well said man.

  • @dylebob1

    Sweat!

  • I can't imagine eating yogurt with rice and spices, but this guy knows what he is talking about and I will try it. He is right about yogurt being good for your digestion. I gotta try this.

  • What the fock are you smoking dumbass? A 1000 years ago cavemen were ripping and eating meat with their "BARE" hands??

Get your fkicking facts right, vegetarianism has been there since ~6th century BC.

  • haha dude chill the heck out you dumbass...I never mentioned a specific time frame.

and as for your history bullshit, this is about using your bare hands to cook and eat...

idk what the history of vegetarianism has to do with that, so cool thanks, learn how to read.

  • Engage brain before typing. I was in the wrong gear and misread your original post, heh, ... I apologize.

  • Hi Chef, thanks for the great recipe. My family too enjoy curd rice. I noticed you did not add onions in your thalipu...why?

  • Nice....so easy to make...

not a day goes by without me eating yogurt...am so addicted to it !! :)

  • Thanks for posting this video. Could you tell me, can you use store-bought yogurt to make this or will it not come out as well? Is any plain whole milk yogurt OK?

    Thanks very much.

  • Hi Sanjay, You can also make it this way. Add some oil in a pan, put mutard seeds, channa dhal, urad dhal, green chilli, curry leaves. Saute well. Add this to plain cooked rice with salt and coriander. Mix it well. After it is cool, add yogurt. This will prevent curd rice getting sour. You can also add some fruits like pomogranate or grapes.

  • great job!!!!!!We like your recipes.Keep posting more veg recipes.Thx

  • Hi, nice videos....doing a great job chef, greatly appreciate it...nice tips too!!

  • Why don't you use a spoon to mix rice and curd? Why do you use hand? But the method is good. I love Thair sadham.Yourwife must be gifted to have you.
