You can see the tension between Damon & Jamie...I'm sure the record co. is not pleased with a production that consists 8 semi trucks for the special set & video screens, that raise the cost of a ticket to well over a hundred dollars (not ideal in a down economy) Then you have the other musicians that are probably frustrated over the lack of audience interaction to get the feedback from the crowd that fuels the bands performance...a prime example was Glastonbury.Halfway in to the show
@armpits17 a review from from uk's the guardian news paper ( don't shoot the messenger ) Gorillaz took a big risk standing in for U2 at Glastonbury. And with a set that failed to ignite the crowd in the same way that Blur did last year, it seems the gamble didn't pay off....i Have read that the stage layout was not audience interaction friendly..That is what people at glastonbury feed off from, is a connection with the band & that show just didn't have it
@armpits17 By the way i'm not a U2 fan....I started to despise them after they treated Phil Collins like shit on live television when he presented them an award via sattelite...They accepted the award in a pub piss drunk & were beyond insulting to him with their nasty remarks and comments...It was disgusting & disgraceful to watch
@rweghg3 Well, I don't agree that they should of played Glastonbury because I don't think they're a festival band. Especially if they are going to headline it's not a good idea. There were featured artists on the tracks and Damon wouldn't introduce any which I think caused a problem. I don't think anybody knew Lou Reed came on the stage! Or half the Clash was on stage the whole show.
@rweghg3 Another thing that is weird is that they only played 2 shows before glastonbury... I think if they are going to play at a festival like that, don't headline, but the Gorillaz show is such a big thing and they probably thought it would blow everybody away like it did for me (I didn't see this show I saw them in Toronto on their North American tour). I'm just a messenger too.
@rweghg3 But whenever I hear about people leaving the show right after it started really bothers me. There is a lot of money put into a show and it's great entertainment. Great visuals and music. I think Glastonbury was just an experiment for them though and they improved. I think Glastonbury is a bad way to call Gorillaz crappy live because the reviews for their world tour months later are great and I seen them during and it was one of the ebst shows I've seen.
@armpits17 I love the Gorillaz & Blur, also very happy that Damon & Noel Gallagher finally had a sit down & forgave each other... I just think that jamie & damon's vision of the Gorillaz is heading in different directions...That's all i was trying to point out..What rock critics think about them i could care less, they are people that get cd's & songs for free & never have to buy a concert ticket...Like the old saying, it's hard to appreciate & respect something when it's given to you
"One of our earliest driving points really for gorillaz was we wanted to be anti-celebrity"- Damon Albarn" "We were probably just sick to death of seeing one fake celebrity after another" -Jamie Hewlett
Damon Albarn is music personified from his meddling of multiple types of music, not selling out to Glee, and his pure spirit to just create the best music he possibly can
WHAT THE FUCKING HELL!? I feel like they were the folks who's read you a book in the "audio books" stuffs for your MP3 and they talk «Rwwweeeeaallly Sloooowwwlyy.....» Kinda weird xD
This interview was one hundred times better than their last visit! Absolutely profound answers were communicated, and Damon and Jamie really seemed interested in Jian's questions. Now this was truly an amazing interview, much inspiration! <3
I respect his views so much, and I hope thatm later in life, I can look back and say it was successful, as he has been. He's such an admirable man, his music altered my life drastically and for the better, and I do hope to speak with him one day. I'd be humbled to be in the same room with him, for he is my idol. I just hope he isn't so sick if such a day comes... I can't 'man it out' as well as he can. xD
I absolutely respect his views. He's doing it all because he loves it, and that is truely admirable. I just hope I can take a page from his book and find myself looking back and saying, "Yup. I'm glad I did do what I did. It really was a good step to take and I am successful." If I can say that and stay true to myself, as he has, then that's all I'll ever need.
What's with all of those people saying Damon's arrogant? I don't get it. What did he say here to seem arrogant? He is everything but a show-off. He knows he's talented deep inside, if that's what you mean. That's not arrogance, it's confidence and, honestly, truth. Geez.
@ablurida He just strongly supports his beliefs about music. Not everyone will agree with his thoughts and way of thinking. Just gotta think about all perspectives, I guess.
Actually I would be sad if Glee did Gorillaz show then idiots who has no idea of the story line or who the people were they would be commenting there videos saying things such as "I love this song but who is he or who is she" or "Wow thank god for glee but I dont understand the ______ & also the part where the _______"
@Gorillazgurl98 i agree completley i have friends and theyll be like "o i LOVE that song you know the one they did on glee" and it will really annoy me because all they know is that it was on glee and then next week theyll have a new favorite song
@XS7073 It will be kind of said too because all the Teeny Boppers will be like "Omg this is like my new favorite song" & then they will pass the song around to their other teeny bopper friends who have no idea to the story line!

@alyjoymac not really, u just don't know real greatness because you have never been in the prescience of greatness or taken interest in great things.
