I'm sitting here on Thomas Drive balling my eyes out. After coming to PCB since the fifties, my Dad bought condo at Sea Side Villas in 1972. The last of the real good times. (we still have the same place--I'm there now.) Peace and Love
Ohhhh how I hated that Starliner! Raised on PCB... I miss the dunes sooo much! I could hear the train from Petticoat Junction from my house as a kid. It was awesome! MSAP was WAYYY better hands down. I still live here and enjoy every day I can on the water or at the beach..and even work on the water still. Catering to those who wanna enjoy this life as well.... I will prolly never work a job off the saltwater Emerald Coast!! Just me... ☺ thanks for sharing!!!!!
Thank you so much for uploading this video! The goofy golf course is still on front beach and has been repainted. I remeber the the miracle strip roller coaster, it was my first roller coaster and scared me white as a ghost. Alot of the places in this video were still around in 92 when i was a kid. I remeber being able to ride down the road and see the beach, now i just see condos and concrete. Still upset they tore down the King Neptune statue!
Awesome. This was definitely the hay day of PCB. I was 12-13 years old when this was taken and we went there quite often. I got a lump in my throat when I saw the top of the strip tower. Wow.
We moved to PC in 1962, two days after my high school graduation in Texas. I'm back in Texas, been away from PC for 10 years, only get home now and then, but once you've been touched by the sand, sun, and water, you're theirs forever.
BEACH PARTY!!!!! OLD DUTCH!!!! The places yo mama told you to stay away from...hahahahahahah!
This is a great video.brings a lot of happy memories.these were the good old day's.I'd trade all my tomorrows for one year back then. thanks for sharing.I've enjoyed the video.
The 1st time i went was in 1974, and omg! I remember everything. Theres actually a pic of my mom with her head stuck in the wooden prop of the dress thingy. they used to have a bunch of those cheesy things. I miss the old mom and pop motels....nothing over 2 stories.we really lost something that the kids nowadays would not understand! thank you very much for posting this as its a real joy to watch! btw, we're leaving 2morrow for p.c.b. we go every year in spite of the progress, its still pc.
When I recently went to PC, I thought I actually saw the Gulf as I was approaching the "Y". My friend quickly pointed out that is was actually the aquamarine colored roof of the building blocking the view. Sad. And I cannot believe there are now 30 story buildings right on the beach. Unreal.
Thank you for sharing this video, I was born in PC in 1969 and have never moved. This video reminds me why!! I think anyone who lived here has drank from that lion water fountain!!lol LUV it!
As a kid starting in 78 we travelled to Panama City every year. I continued this well into my adult years taking my kids there a couple of times. We stayed in a little motel called the Shalimar Plaza and it was like our little slice of heaven. It was still there in 02 , but last year we found that our beloved hotel was replaced by a high rise. In fact, it doesn't even look like Panama City anymore. I will always treasure those memories and miss it. Thanks for sharing your video!!
Priceless footage!! I just today finished reading Tom Hollis' -'Florida's Miracle Strip' book, and although my timeframe for PCB began in '83 and ended in '97 (with one last visit in 2004 that was shocking to say the least -what with all of the high rises going up everywhere, replacing the familiar landscape I knew and still hold onto in my mind) I really enjoyed learning about some of the motels, amusememt parks and restaurants that were there prior to my time --your footage just added more!!
WOW that brings back so many memories for me. Me,my mom and my brother moved there from Texas in about 1975 and stayed until about 1979. I was watching videos, since 1979 was the last time I was there and came across this.WOW. At the time, I didn't like it much but looking back it was a great place to live. I wish I had stayed!
Thanks for the great video Jimmy Carter!!! I'm so glad you found it.
