  • Staring starts at 4:08 xDDDDD Lee Hsien Loong : No answer. So I think that settles the point. *walks away* xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • things go well claim credit. shit happens blame others. wa so smart hor. of course wong ks should resign!!!

  • seriously even if you dont like the guy show some basic respect for an elder...all the bullshit comments just shows how ur parents brought u up....a serious lack of basic manners...how would u like it if someone says whatever u have commented about mr lky to ur own grandparents...

  • @LawlietShadow He could have stood up?Aint he Crippled?or he is stunned wif the question?

  • Father & son, shit them, talk like tho they were at home. So much wind. Idiot also know they were arguing like shit and which idiot dare to go against them and break their iron rice bowls ? See how the son walk away after questioning the idiots other than LTK. If there wasn't LTK, think this no so big deal issue will be handled differently. Yes the whole idiots should be gone, they behave like without them our country will die. Arrogant old white men.

  • What's kind of leadership PM promoting??Diminishing responsiblilites & abuse of authority! He should have the courtesy to resign but act innocent & ignorant pushing the blame whosoever because the reason given have always beyond his jurisdiction neither is his scope of duties haha

  • firstly you guys don't pay attention to the countless blessings the government had brought about, because you guys always take things for granted. The political stability and just having to go through everyday life without having to worry about riots or suicide bombers are our blessings. And all these attributes to our government. its not done by you or me. You guys just happily amplify their every mistakes and overlook what good they have done. I'm a teen speechless with what adults are doing.

  • @IceMiloZ yo when u go out and start earning money u will know. Teens taking from parents' salary are uncountable in this generation. Its not easy for middle and peasant class in this country compared to most other countries. Unless your family is in the top 5% i have nothing to say. Singapore is not 4th in the world for cost of living for nothing.

  • @IceMiloZ i feel exactly the same way dude. no one appreciates the safety and security we experience every day. we can go to school without the worry of being kidnapped. we can sleep without the worry of riots occuring. we enjoy clean streets and top level education. but everyone just complains that the education system is too difficult or whatever. did those losers even put in the hard effort? i can't imagine what would happen to singapore if the govt falls into the hands of the WP

  • LHL quite cocky sia.But i think thats the qualities of a leader.

  • If A policy is a HUGE SUCCESS, obviously the Minister will claim all the credit, perhaps acknowledging how much the civil servants have helped and contrinuted to it's thriving success.

Now, if something stupid happens, shouldn't a REAL Minister take the blame too? Then look at Singapore. Not only doesn't the Minister have to step down, and not only does he blame the civil servants and probably silence anyone who riots, but he gets promoted too! Call that transparency?

  • i love low thia kiang

  • From PM's words, I would interpret that the DPM - "he" doesn't need to do anything because "he" just needs to make sure that he doesn't suggest anything?! Is "he" not required to give insightful instructions?

What a way to "explain" things out.

  • LHL talks like a bully. Sucks!

  • It's not just about the escape. What about the attempts trying to recapture him?? Was WKS giving instructions? The MHA, SAF were all behind him, he led the search and in the end MSK already took a nice shower at home and went over to MY for Nasi Lemak. So does this show how incompetent WKS is? Should he resign?

  • LHL so freaking cocky.

  • aiyo.. poor Mr Low. You should have gotten the mandate from the people. We want pay cut for the DPM lor. or he should say yes DPM should resign.

  • DPM should resign earlier!

  • Guess what WKS is promoted to SM, bigger pension and pay. How about that for making a big mistake?

  • For ur info sometime in January 2011,an employee of SMRT UPD took his very young daughter to play at the high voltage maint pit. It was only known after a public complaint. How SMRT didn't realised a kid was in the Restricted Area, just like the vandal nobody know abt it..Is the Security so slacked. How abt our safety. The guy got away with just a warning letter

  • election result shown what the answer should be.

  • TYpical of PAP to ACT BLUR as usual.

  • @ZephyrShot hey Mr Low may talk like an AH BENG like u think... but guess what S h i t F a C e ?? He's 1000000 times smarter than you..so shut yr trap before u say something stupid again

  • @ZephyrShot He's in the parliament. You're not. So don't think you can do better (: Listen to him speak in chinese.

  • @ZephyrShot You got a problem with people speaking singlish? If you are not a singaporean fuck off, if you are then you are a moron who lost his national pride. Up your ass bitch.

  • @ZephyrShot your dear lim swee say talks worse

  • Then what's the point of apologizing and only years later when the elections are near?? Based on what he said then, apology NOT accepted UNLESS there's a change for the better...

  • A lot of you are talking big here. About how you know he is wrong, you know that you are being wronged and that the political system can change for the better if it CHANGES! but the recent elections show that very much like Singaporeans of yesteryears, we are big to talk but can't walk the walk. I am 18 and not eligible but I am getting more and more frustrated with the elders of this country who prefer to talk behind closed doors and hide from the public.

  • Thumbs down for the attitude & answer from the PM.

"Heads" won't roll if your subordinate screws ups.

So, i can say Minister that step down in other countries due to similar incidents are stupid?

Or is this uniquely to us?

  • like father like son, both are rude and arrogant...

  • @junberg Wait till you see HK CE Donald Tsang talk, then our whole definition of what's rude and arrogant will take on a whole new meaning by leaps and bounds.

  • Comment removed

  • what a bunch of bullshit... i cannot believe what I am hearing from PM Lee

  • He can't answer cos he isn't at the podium, dey. We got this kind of PM. Nice la.

  • @ykt3ng haha that was what I thought. Don't he have to come up after PM Lee to talk...lol

  • Is this a form of threatening?

  • people, believe me, rude ppl will nv change. =)

  • wth

  • It's not settled! Low Thia Kiang is back to settle with you!

  • If i own a dog and it bite someone during a stroll in the park, it is not the owner/trainer's fault and responsibility, the problem lies with the Dog. woof woof... WoofTF?

  • LoL ! It will be weird if someone voice out ...

  • Yes, 3 sec is sufficient enough time to respond to a National level question as to whether a minister should step down, you big bully... like father like son.

thanks to Singaporean, we will still have incompetent ppl like WKS in parliament.

  • logical fallacy

  • IN OTHER COUNTRY THE HEAD OF THE COUNTRY MUST RESIGN IF BIG MISTAKE MAKE, ACTUALLY MANY THINGS HAPPENING BUT SINGAPOREAN EITHER NOT AWARE OR DON'T CARE OR FEAR TO TALK. NOBODY WANT TO BE THE HEREO NOW A DAYS. CHINA MENTION THAT IF ONE DAY CHINA BIG AND STRONG ENOUGH CHINA WILL TAKE BACK THE LITTLE ISLAND FROM JAPAN,SO SOMETIME IS NOT ABOUT RIGHT OR WRONG IS ABOUT WHO IS BIG......

  • "And because past detainess like the communist sympathisers were not likely to escape (from ISD in Whitley Road),,,and there has never an escape from iSD detention" -PM Lee - then WHY put a dangerous terrorist like Mas Selamat there in first place? Why not CID HQ or somewhere more secure, like Changi Prison?

  • @Doremon95 Maybe it's because they had trouble telling the difference? Promoting a different vision/direction for Singapore ("communist sympathisers" ) is not exactly the same thing as actually plotting to blow people/things up ("terrorists")...

Hmm, it sounds like the "past detainees" may not have been that much of a threat-- talk about falling for your own "track record"....

  • If you can't take responsibility for your ministry's failures, you can't take responsibility for your ministry's successes either!

  • wah. totally not democratic.

  • @ccube85 This is what happens in a one-party "democracy".

  • WKS should've resigned on his own accord. and PM Lee is being a cunt in the last part. i wasn't impressed by the way he handled it.

  • say Minsters need high pay as they hold high responsibility also you, now say something happen but no need to be responsible also you !!

  • Singapore could well have suffered a 9/11 catastrophe if not for the good work of the Malaysian authorities. A humongous failure by Wong Kang Seng! He should have been sacked or demoted if the PAP's high standard was applied.

  • i think its time singaporeans vote for change.

  • Lee looks very frustrated. Chill.

  • Perfect scenario of 1 gangster party dominating the parliament...

    Change is imminent!

  • Arrogant PAP! when PM lee came out to apologise , he dont see too sincere. I just find that they wanted sympathy votes

  • fucking arrogant!

  • I thought Low Thia Khiang couldnt reply because Mr Lee was still standing there. =.=

  • @LawlietShadow

    That's the point.

    He did it on purpose.

If Mr Low speaks, he will be penalized for speaking from his bench and fall into Lee's trap.

  • what a lousy PM!!

  • so not professional .. he shld target the issue which Mr Low is mentioning and not be targeting Mr Low. Now it is safe.. but wat if? I think any citizens can answer the question as to whether Wong Ka Seng needs to be accountable.. I cant believe tat his face is so thick tat he take such high salary but can stil escape fr taking responsibility .. wat are our future children going to learn fr this lesson? u can get away wit it even if u do sometin wrong .. jus admit tat it was an honest mistake !

  • Erm I didn't even know that he is asking him question . I knew it only after he say " no answer" 1 vs the whole paliament who will win? Thank god Mr Low debated for us. For the rights of singaporeans

  • rubbish...of course no ans wat all his team mate all fellow singaporean when ns time do u rem kanna tekan for 1 for all all for 1 spirit rite nw they jus push away the question, do they knw the traffic congestion happen when mas escape, wat to do if 1 of yur family or friend is in the emergency ambulance n the traffic can't allow the ambulance to pass ...so much inconvience caused yet they settle in such way very sad for my country....hero mr low

  • I can't image a parliament without people like Mr Low Thia Khiang. There will no longer be any voices that comes from the people & for the people. I am sure no other MPs will voice out against the PM or MM. I bet PAP will try very hard to get WP out of the way for GE 2011, so that they will no longer be questioned about accountability, salaries & promises. Netizens, pls pass on the message, let fellow Singaporeans know that our Co-Driver works hard, just that he needs more power from the people!

  • What the hell was that? Even teachers are taught to give 7 secs to students when asking questions...sheeeez...

  • damn he looks pissed man lol

  • 皇亲国戚,怎会不相护。。。。那眼神。。。。。

  • 皇亲国戚,怎会不相护。。。。

  • Since WKS and former PM Lee chose not to resign because of their major lapse, we should settle the matter once and for all on 7th May by not voting them in. Just remember to vote wisely at the GE by ensuring more opposition members in parliament.

  • LHL really is a frigging douchebag, like his father.

  • DPM should resign and yes, PM should follow and resign too!

  • PM Lee is so lame at times...u work so high up in the govt u BEAR THE BRUNT of the responsibility and retire! ANY SANE man with integrity would have done that. U have the audacity to sack those guarding the gates and u sit in ur office smoking cigar."I am sorry" BULL! I can say that cos i earn fking enough to buy roti prata (that too half fucked ones) to survive. U buy gold plated prata and stuff it down on a daily basis and all u say is "Im sorrry" Are u kidding. PAP OUT! NOW!

  • PM Lee is not lame at times. He is a walking sack of lame. Nothing has changed.

  • We have all let down our guards. These ministers have worked so hard for Singapore on both sides. Let's move on past this mistake and work together for a united Singapore. :)

  • Guys... this is politics for you. Havent you guys heard about it?

  • he is trashed coz he is the only opposition MP.

  • wong kan seng looks very cute... hiding behind :P

  • Look at WKS face and MBT make me BOIL!

  • 监狱犯人弄不见, 内政部长不道歉

  • that goes without saying detention without trail ISA is OK. hey! low thia thiang - is ISA also will be your lovable tool of d future. it seem u will be bolder than PAP - lawyer but hardly understand violation of human right. shame on u. we had enough of another china emperor

  • And we Singaporeans had to endured looking at that stupid Mas Selamat photos everywhere in the public areas everyday like on the buses, MRTs, taxis, cinemas, hawkers, foodcourts, lifts lobby, religious places, Internet & even toilets!!! Ya!!!???!!! Who is going to cure our emotional disturbance from tis incident?

  • Like father like son... Using fear tactics lor... 3 secs

  • @OrgrisVhal He does not want to be Prime Minister . Like he said he's not aiming to be the "Driver". someone that speaks like you i hope most singaporeans aren't like you

  • @OrgrisVhal Is yours any better? lol.

  • Cronyism and Nepotism at the highest level.

  • Full of excuses.

  • I dunno...he's not directly responsible, although he has to take accountability for the security lapse. But its more about how such an incident can be prevented in future.

  • 0:47 - doesn't mean no one wont try to escape...duh..

  • If WKS dunno how to resign himself and still need other MP to remind him or ask him to resign. i think there is nothing much for LTK to say regarding WKS. so let the voters decide this GE2011.

  • PM Lee avoided the question of accountability. It means WongKS choose the wrong person for his prison and failed in audit checks. Did he even try to audit every home affairs dept or visit himself?? I dont think so. This lead to all the mistakes.

  • chikuchiku2012@yahoo.com.sg

lets learn from mistakes. Bringing up the past does not help.

  • well, that wuss of a Wong Kan Seng needed the PM to defend him that badly while he just sat there trying to look like a sorry cat that's over-snacked on fish. matter is settled? your ass it is! watch your pathetic Kan Seng get creamed during this election time.

  • LOL PM Lee so petty one ar. I guess because he didn't work in private sector before, so he dunno how to handle criticism.

  • ive said this before and i'll say it again Low thia Kiang didn't have the balls to say yes WKS should resign. This shows the calibre of the opposition. complain so much but come to crunch time chicken out. How can this low quality opposition head a team? How to represent us? Silent like a mouse. I supported him till I saw this video. Sorry LTK supporters.

  • @robertskwh Dont have to say sry to LTK supporters. Its ok. I was neutral till i watched this clip. See how opposition party overrun by LHL in the parliament and simply brushed them aside,Being oppositon party is such an unthankful job. LTK lost one supporter in you, but gain one supporter in me.

  • @chikuchiku2012

Opposition would have done the same if they were in power

  • @chikuchiku2012

the check and BALANCE is not at the parliament now, do you think the incumbent of now, PAP, will let the matter rest even with more opposition in ward?

be objective, and set a higher target and stop guessing

the line should be drawn on the head of WKS, just like how many CEO stepped down

  • @robertskwh pm lee's question was totally irrelevant to what ltk was pinpointing about. if pap has the balls, dpm wks should have stepped up and defend himself, and not needing the pm to come up and use his authority to put the matter to rest. if dpm wks has the balls, he would own up and admit his mistake, regardless of whether he directly or indirectly caused it, instead of attempting to use his past 27 undeserved years of service to cover up that one near-fatal mistake.

  • @robertskwh ur nt in that position. To speak up in parliament is to represent all citizen's views. It is nt merely making a statement. It's backing ur statement up and more than getting back at whosoever. We are looking at this incident objectively nt to judge who has de guts bt to noe who owns the ways / ideas resolves things better fer us, citizens. To win an a debate doesn't mean u hv won.

  • @robertskwh The important thing is to win de hearts and interests of the pp. Knowing ur response will snowball a never ending topic with more unnecessary attention and direction is gg overboard. It wld hv created a whole new unnecessary debate = at de end of the day, the real issue (on WKS) is nt sovled bt another superfluous matter for discussion arise. This is nt wise and nt moving forward. Just my opinion. Thanks.

  • i like the nervous smile and leg shifting to get hs pt across.

    epic.

  • i feel like laughing whenever i hear low thia kiang speak

  • He is just trying to cover his party's ass, im sure if the opposition was to have made a similar mistake, he would have taken the opportunity to get them to resign

  • damn pai kia lor.. Stare and say its settled. Like that i become PM also can lah! Bloody hell...

  • so i believe BP chief Tony Hayward asked for safety precautions to be neglected for the deepwater horizon oil spill? Being head of a team means you have to be responsible for the whole team's performance, including the failure of the team. You cant simply expect to share the fruits of labour when the whole team does well (eg. pay increment) but shirks responsibility when things goes awry.

  • think skinned Won KS! SHAMELESS PRICK!!!

  • I think pinky tricked all. The statement "Let me ask the member.." was not put in an asking tone. Then within 3secs he proclaimed nobody wanted to challenged and close the case. What a coward move.

  • Oh speaking about accountability. Don't forget about the $8mil loss of our sinking funds by the 2 councils towns. They invested money collected from us into Lehman Brothers funds. I don't remember people held accountable. No reports were ever issue to say how town councils manage funds or if other towns were involved.

  • i am shocked and very much speechless. in the wise words of samantha from holland village, the PM is seriously "one kind".

  • WKS should be held responsible and resign. Not just on the basis of Mas Selamat's escape but on the total failure of our police force.

    - months of Mas Selamat's escape, news reports that 2 convicts awaiting trial in high-court basement nearly escaped from the holding cells

    - countless reports of police officers involved with loan shark activities

    - most recent case a police officer was jailed for suggesting to a model who stole her flat-mate's car; caught speeding, to get someone to take th

  • @tanjm348 the 2 officers looking after the convict's cell at court basement was charged instead. One of them is NSF. Seriously its ridiculous. They got whacked by the convicts after entering in the midst of serving drinks. The higher your rank in civil service is, u escape more.

  • somethings got to give, sir.

maybe we sacrifice that bagi, one of the insiders, huh?

  • Mr Low is an honorable man, he's concerned about the manner of running this country

and has compassion not to ask for the outright sack of wongkanseng our ISD director & DPM

LHL ways of doing things is making me think really hard. im worried.

no amount of discourse can cover what is the right action to take

& indians are best to use words cheaply, much to the comfort like a song to the PM's ears.

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • SHUT THE BAYI BABI INDIAN SINGH UP!

    -

IM WHOLLY WITH Mr Low Thia Khiang on the Money

gross incompetency on the part of the DPM &/or his moal scruples if he took to lying for someone unworthy for being in charge of toilet windows, wongkanseng as a grossly highly paid DPM of a country & director of ISD !

    *

im talking about the absolute waste of money to make prisoner traitor into e ugliest posterboy e world over!

    at a time

when economy is so bad, terrorism so rift that raise cost of security

  • if this is the way PM choose to govern,

    it is very disheartening

and i do fear for my future...my financial burden and security

  • ..at a time

when economy is so bad, terroristic threats are rife that raise the cost of security to sky high,

when we dont hv the money that wongkanseng was blowing away and yet couldnt impress 1 iota on malaysian counterparts into thinking he has the whole treasury backing him.

Many questions raised on e assumption of responsibility was just lip service&doesnt amt to any concrete accountability.

PAP has yet to be aware of anything like this- 1 week into Mas disappearance, i saw in a crowded mall a malay man of Mas stature behind dark shades and a white walking stick in his hand, drifting, walking very swiftly almost running, breezing past me, that got me alerted that the deserter could come under this sort of disguise,,

just go to show up Wongkangseng lack of scruples so glaringly.

  • And how dare he ask people not to shut an ungrilled window, or cover up for his people with such a lie to his own nation,

if ever he considers himself a Singaporean !

  • refresh the memory of everyone.

  • of course no one will say yes, just in case they become minister and make similar mistakes one day.

  • Wong Kang Seng should have make a public apology if he wants to continue to work for singapore. I don't see any point of debating this instead of pointing fingers at one another.

  • The Qns is... Who dare to say?

  • I dont think tt WKS should be sacked but he should definitely be accountable. The least he could do was probably admit his responsibility and not let the PM protect him. Ministers in Japan doesnt have a private sector pay. Yet when they make a mistake, big or small, they accept responsibility, admit it and either resign or apologize. But here in singapore, the minister gets paid better than Obama, sits there silent when he needs to take responsibility and runs behind PM lee for cover

  • @steprentice Japanese ministers do not apologize because they accept their responsibility, they apologize because in their culture, an apology means "let this matter drop" regardless of whether there is eventually someone who truly admits or rectify the mistake. If you know Japanese culture, you realize they apologize for everything, and most of the time they don't mean it. Nothing moves forward, everything gets swept under the carpet after the apology.

  • @steprentice how true. i mean. wong kan seng. just. sat. there. wth.

  • if the DPM's job is to "tell the guards to grill the windows" or "increase the fencing", then i could be the DPM. Part of the DPM's job is to select the right group of people under him and like corytan5 mentioned, "keep pressure on employees to maintain a high level of vigilance" and to eradicate complacency. Indirectly, WKS is responsible. I agree with MP Inderjit Singh tt people need to be punished. WKS need not to be sacked but at least, he should be accountable for what has happened.

  • Was told by someone that his friend worked in there. And that a senior officer actually walked w him out of the compounds. That's y the guards didn't stop them. Don't know how true. That officer must have been brainwashed or bribed or whatever... No wonder govt took so long to give an explanation right?

  • People who have tasted power for too long and aren't strong enough mentally won't be able to let it go, not even just a small bit.

  • @insanepolygon exactly. Worse in charge of ISD too.

  • Worse PM in the history of singapore.

  • Does all of you really think likewise with other countries that anything goes wrong, just do the finger pointing and quit would be enough?

I beg to differ. I think our govt did a move by putting enforcement measures when mas selamat first got away.

Opp parties are just trying to harp on one error and use it to attack or even demolish all the good things that has been contributed by PAP for the longest time.

Believe me, If it's not because of our polling, they won't even be bothered to bring

  • @kusotareable I am a commando also leh... knn, last time my CO always say, when something goes wrong, the leaders should be the one responsible. now seems like our leaders are cowards... moreover, the failure to grill up the windows, means Mr Wong has no hindsight...

  • I am a commando, tough and with great endurance, no arrogance intend. I never imagine I will cry when I saw this video. Serious, in my years of working, it is true that senior management is expected to behave professionally and argue objectively when it comes to disagreements. I see my leader of nation just throwing ranks and using the "eyethority" to shut people up.

  • @kusotareable

This is what we call double standards from PAP . Do you still have confidence in the PAP when meritocracy is breached ? Although LTK brought up a very interesting point of CEO resigning in the event of a serious mistakes being commited , when PM asked whether the DPM should resign , he remain silent. This shows that the WP LTK has no character and I would hesisate to vote for his party.

  • Forever finding excuses and pushing blames away. Even dogs will realize their mistakes and keep quiet. Cant even compare with dogs..disappointed

  • Forever finding excuses and pushing blames away. Even dogs will realize their mistakes and keep quiet. Cant even compare with dogs..dissappointed

  • I really v disappointed w PAP. why can u just admit straight to the point its your fucking mistake? Look at the japanese system, sensitive and admit their mistakes.

I mean, it would be better if he admit the mistakes than to keep talkin so much crap and WHY. we dont fking care WHY cuz it has already happened. Somemore take so long to catch?! Fucking noob bitch

  • @rafehong

Please be mature and rationale when we make comments , we should not get carried away or else your argumental points will be lost

  • Comment removed

  • @rchongx123 dont mind me. this is how youths speak. in the first place, you shouldnt even be bothered cuz its just a casual comment. there's no need to even be formal HERE or to potray another facade. -.-

  • @rafechun Just because you are a rude youth doesn't mean you can generalize your behavior to other youths. Informal also does not mean rude, neither does no facade.

  • @servicecoupon this is stupid, you're not suppose to bother. u should just comment on this video's content. I'm not here to be judged. Judge the ppl that are receiving millions per year. u can say whatever u want, i can say whatever i want just Dont direct ur msg to me, cuz its annoying & stupid.

    thanks.

  • Respond to this video...

The whole world is laughing at Singapore and nothing is being done about the DPM. This means the world will not take Singapore seriously when it comes to convictions and commitment

  • like that also can uh. PM... very disappoiting lei.

  • siao liao. the terrorist might aim DPM liao. hahahahahahaha.

  • Steady. Any DPM would have put in resignation. This one got the PM to back him. Shameless.

  • I think the direction of the arguement is wrong. Mr Low is NOT asking for Mr Wong to resign. He is asking that Minister should not be paid so high because they do not have the same accountability to their civil services as CEO has towards their companies. That is why he is silents on whether to resign or not, PM was asking the wrong question.

  • @Xyan It was the right question. Indeed, he deftly avoided the more general issue of whether both pay and performance should be pegged to private sector; but his (PM's) contention was that DPM was not culpable in the first place which is why his question was preceded by the accusation that even Mr Low could not ascribe fault to DPM in the preceding discussions. (Part 1 of 2)

  • @Xyan One could say DPM was passively wrong and should still resign but PM dealt with this point too when he pointed out that the line has to be drawn somewhere. In fact, by asking Mr Low whether he really thinks DPM should resign he is also dealing with the issue of whether ministers should resign even if they have made mistakes. Resigning may provide deterrence but it doesn't mean the replacement minister is better. What if DPM Wong really is the best person for his job? (Part 2 of 2)

  • @ChowYiLing Singapore is the only developed country whose ministers do not have to step down when a huge mistake is made. Perhaps Singapore does not have the stepping-down culture. You're not one of the those nsfs who had to comb the jungles and the sea for mas selemat, and how much anxiety and inconvenience were caused by the traffic jams.He could have stepped down amicably this round of elections, but he chose to stay. we'll have to do him the honors of voting him out.

  • @Xyan

I think the implication from WP is clear that the DPM should resign but he kept quiet , this means to show he has no character

  • @Xyan i agree.

  • @Xyan I disagree. Mr Low was saying that WKS should have been held accountable in view of his burden of responsibility as Co-ordinating Minister for National Security (which the PAP has always used to justify their Ministers' high salaries). Mr Low's point is not about WKS resigning because he is well-paid, but rather that he was irresponsible, and hence neither deserves the responsibility as a Minister and the pay that goes with it.

  • @Xyan PM Lee was trying to smoke his way around the issue by challenging Mr Low if he meant that WKS should resign because the latter is well-paid. WKS should have resigned because he was irresponsible, period.

  • Terrorism is a construct. It is meant to put fear in the masses. So that individual liberties will be compromised via the lack of warrant from a court for arrest, clamp down on freedom of expression. Clamp down on most individual liberties.

The likelihood of dying in a terrorist attack is less risky than dying of a bolt of lightning. Yet, people are still more scared of terrorists that the govt must put up more restrictive policies. The media is the tool for fear of terrorists.

  • I would have said yes. The glaring combination of mistakes at the detention centre showed overall imcompentency . Nobody is saying that WKS should have sealed the window shut, or fixed up the fencing. He should have maintained pressure to those employed there to maintain a high level of vigilance. He didn't, so they were lax. Just because nobody tried to escape before, doesn't mean nobody will. We learn these lessons from our moms and in the army. u mean WKS don't know so he's not responsible?

  • @corytan5
