I think its better if ladies get a little experienced at age 15 ( if they want to run or be a beauty queen) thru local pageant or schools intrams and get that "pageant experienced" under their belt so that by age 17, 18 and on, they already have that experienced and can handle the pressure of being in the spotlight.
U know what Filipinos, i think it is time now to make a Huge rally and replace Stella Araneta for having a poor job performance and for not listening to the beauty experts that she should stop letting Colombian designer Alfredo Barraza make the gowns for Miss Philippines candidates to Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss International... sana palitan na sila dahil palpak nalang lagi ang mga kandidata natin! Gloria must be speaking from experience. Hindi talaga siya marunong magtagalog nung sumali siya sa Ms. Universe. Let's leave Melanie Marquez out of this. Although her answer during the Bb. Pilipinas pageant was not without it's flaws, she was confident enough to get her point accross. She shone in the Ms. International pageant enough to bring the crown home. In Janina's case, it was not much a question of what language she should have used, but one of confidence.
gloria diaz has matured so much in her outlook in life. i remember when she was a contestant in the miss universe 1969 she had said that at home she only speaks english and spanish. but then again this doesn't mean that she was not fluent in tagalog or never spoke tagalog at her home. but i admire her now. for her view about a filipino being fluent in tagalog rather than english
