A kunai was not a weapon...rather it was a tool. It was a trowel like gouging device with a leaf shaped blade and saw tooth edges used to cut through things or open something or even digging. Im not saying it couldnt be used as a weapon but that was probably unlikely. The kunai as we know it today was probably inspired by anime or something.

Sharpness is not the only factor of a good knife. A lot of knives don't come shaving sharp. There is steel quality, grip, handle material, ease of opening/closing, lock strength, and edge retention. If out of the box sharpness is what you are looking for you will be disappointed in most knives.

For one, I don't have a good sharpener, and two, the ones that are dull aren't even worth sharpening and/or they are so cheap they won't hold an edge anyways. Remember, these were my low quality knives.
