  • Dolly parton was extremely attractive and classy as well! This is almost impossible to find nowadays with American females. On top of it all, her voice is absolutely amazing, which, of course, has been stated endless times by fans throughout the years

  • love it and them and I'n not even a RED NECK. MAYBE I'M MISSING SOMETHING YOU THINK?????

  • Nowadays Dolly seems recognized mostly either for Dollywood or for her ample physical qualities. Most people under 50 years of age are unaware that she was probably the most gifted female duet voice in the history of country music. This video is evidence of that gift.

  • @nancymcgill She is also an amazing guitar player and writer. Too bad Hollywood made a caricature out of her.

  • Dolly to me has the most beautiful singing voice and Dolly is one very beautiful woman inside and out!

  • @BLUEOHIO AGREE 100%!!!

  • SHe was so beautiful.

  • From husky to plaintive, the nuances of Dolly's voice is unsurpassed by any other artist I've ever heard sing this beautiful old song. Is there anybody out there who doesn't have one of these 'someone's' from long ago?

  • honestly if you look at the young pics of hank jr. on here and compare it to the pics of porter wagoner , kinda makes a guy wonder who hank jrs dad is ]\

  • no brad paisley...THIS is country music...

  • when she leaves us Heaven will get back the only angel they sent to entertain us

  • I love their voices together. How sad that Porter is gone. Hard to believe this was 41 years ago.

  • forty one years and still as heart breaking as then.

  • great song but you really cant hear it too well

  • beautiful!! just beautiful!! todays music SUCKS!!!! bring back the old time music!!

  • Love this, but the volume is a bit lower than others uploaded on YouTube. : (

  • Is this Marelyn Monnroe?

  • @PN9K5 That's Dolly Parton, not Marilyn Monroe.

  • Marlyn Monroe sing?

  • @PN9K5 No, this is Dolly Parton BEFORE she wrecked herself :)

  • @JFlatley5001 You Mean Her Face, Right? If That's What you Mean, I Agree!!

She Shouldn't Of Messed with Mother Nature. It Was Perfect!!!

  • The good old days before I was born

  • this was made when country music was really country music

  • bif titties aside, that dolly can flat sang.

  • @FlauntussFloyd And she never sang flat. Dang, she never did nuthin flat!

  • i have been trying to quit drinking but this music sure makes it difficult. this is real country

  • Today's popped up idiots.... THIS IS REAL MUSIC - PERIOD!

  • sure brings back a lot of wonderful memories

  • so called country music stinks except for a select few.

  • I dont think Porter was a brilliant solo singer but with Dolly he was superb.

  • I think the heaven is place where full of joy and nice voices like Dolly Parton. Whenever I listen to this song makes me cry. Just feeling that in the eternity we will see what we love most. I hope both of them will be in Heaven. Their looks, voices and music are amazing.

  • just someone i use to screw.lol

  • Dolly patron has been around since the dinosaur era and still looks 29

  • My Dad who passed away love this music and we watched the Porter Wagoner Show every week. I remember hating the music, but as I grew up I found my self listening this music all the time now ..nothing compares

  • Awesome couple and song..too bad that true country music gone forever..

  • I was fortunate enough to meet and get to know Porter before he passed he was one of the nicest gentlemen that I met in Nashville and always had time to talk about music and songwriting...miss ya Porter

  • One of her best songs, you NEVER hear is, it's been one of those days. It was recorded in 1973. If someone could put it on youtube, it would be great. Its a wonderful love song.

  • Still waiting to meet my Porter Waggoner... still hoping to find my duet partner someday

  • Like this particular upload is hosed because its audio level is way too low. By comparison, other uploads of this same video are excellent. Way to go, babe!

  • Ahhhhh, good ole hurtin' music!!!

  • yea... porter got some of that

  • It's no wonder Dolly spends "all that money to look so cheap". Watching some country hear they all look like prom night compared to rock/pop chicks. That's because Country throws them away after 40 something. It's no wonder Dolly, Emmylou, Allison K., Reba, Carry U, Miley C., Sheryl C, Buddy&Julie M. & countless others crossed over to pop/soft rock/easy listening. Country doesn't deserve their grace. Come on over to our neck of the woods we don't retire anyone. If you can sing your welcome.

  • Country is so fickle. No wonder they are loosing everything. If that's how they treat women then they should. No matter how good they are if they are over 40 something, they won't even play them on the radio. Ha. I knew their was a really, good reason I am a rocker at heart. They don't treat their elderly women like that. As long as you can sing it, that's all you need. Country women really do owe alot to Dolly, for pulling them more into the main stream, contempary, pop, soft rock.

  • Real country, all the old stuff was good old country. New stuff mostly pop or fake country. I say get country, or get out.

  • dolly parton is like a million years old now and somehow she is still hot

  • This is the backbone of country.

  • i like porter and dolly.to bad i cant see them on here .in wont play the whole song without stoppin.i dont know how to fix this problem!what is with youtube??

  • in this video dolly is a youngun at 24 yrs and fabulous porter at at young 43 yrs. bravo what a perfect harmony

  • Is that her real hair. ?

  • Great classic country, but that platinum wig, and pink lipstick wasn't working for Dolly!

  • my all time favorite

  • porter wayne and dolly rebecca. i remember the album thet had in the early seventies, because i had that album. i loved it then, and i love it now!!!!!

  • wow!!look at dolly !! she's so young.I always wondered how she looked when she was young!

  • Dolly seems so uncomfortable around Porter. I'm sure she has some horror stories about "the porter show".

  • wow. Thanks for sharing. I agree that today's "Country" music can't hold a candle to this!

  • Beautiful song, great artists.......sweet, sweet memories. We miss you, Porter. But we have your wonderful music to remind us of you.

  • Porter is such an asshole....he stole so much from Dolly

  • @matzchase You've got to remember that Dolly has said herself that Porter is what started her career. Without him she would be singing at some cheap-paying Nashville nightclub, according to her.

  • Wow !!! Look how Young Dolly is. This song along with many other song that Dolly, wrote got turned over to Porter, in a law suit. Dolly gave Opar Music Publishing to Porter. He had stated that Dolly owed him money.

  • todays country music cant hold a candle to this. this is a classic song sung by legendary performers. Country music (if you can call it that) has lost its heart and soul.

  • I can hear it just fine. What amazing voices!

  • Something has happened to the sound.I can hardly hear it anymore.(The other videos on YT I can hear. Most of them anyway)

  • My favorite song! Great music! Great performers! Classic! Dolly and Porter, two greatest singers of all time! Thank you for sharing.

  • i love this song and dolly and porter did it real justice!

  • And also the 19th song down the list on the right.

  • what a pretty song this is. I love when she hits the high note in the chorus!

  • This is the original and best version.

  • dang...dolly was gray!

  • @MIORIGAMI

blonde would be a better word actually.

  • @riorocketxo u sure? looks pretty gray.

  • @MIORIGAMI

well, she wasnt very old in the 70's. she very well coulda been platinum blonde, thats close to gray. and it could have a little to do with the video (the videos great but its not as great quality as tv, very difficult to get on youtube). I'm fairly certain she's platinum blonde. but i could be wrong. just thought i'd let ya know :)

  • I remember watching this show as a kid. Look how beautiful she was. In my opinion she did NOT need to alter her looks like she did. Great duo, thanks.

  • awsome Video, thank you - Guys Check my profile

  • What a shame the right channel is dead, Big loss if your listening to music.

  • I'm not certain, but I think I saw a younger version of the fiddle player on YouTube videos of Don Reno & Red Smiley. If it's the same guy, then it's Mac Mcgaha.

  • It is Mac..Mac left Reno and Smiley to go with Porter...

  • does anyone know what happend to

Porter's fiddle player? maybe youtube will

also post a song called Jeanni's Afrid

of the Dark. thanks for this on. i can

relate so well to this song.

  • Jeannies Afraid of The Dark Is on You Tube.Look to the right in the list. It's the 10th song down.

  • Porter's passing is a great loss to country music. He has left with us so many memorable songs like this beautiful classic.

  • I love this song by Porter and Dolly. What a great duo they were. They look so classy here - mighty good looking. I have a picture of ' just someone I used to know ', also ; my very first love as a teenager. Thank you so much for posting. - Paula

  • A great classic by two of country music's greats.

  • love this song i love dolly parton what a ledgend

  • her voice is just perfection..No need 2 say more...

  • MAGIC..

  • I have a picture of someone and myself, just as they sing about. just someone I used to know.

  • Lovely harmony. Thanks for posting this terrific video.

  • Goooood Stuff!!!!!!!

    thanx,

    Sam

  • Mac Mcgaha will live on forever in my mind as the greatest fiddler that ever lived. Go rest high Mac.

  • LeeAnn Womack does this and she's great, but cannot surpass Dolly.

  • I will not comment cause Dolly is one of LeeAnn Womack heroes and Dolly loves her. But i think she is the Dolly of this generation although Dolly has been a contempory artiste for more than 30 yrs. Amazing eeehh

  • This is the best, thank you for sharing brilliant people and their music.

  • No two singers have ever been able to match this version, for it has been almost fifty years, and we are still waiting! I love this song so much!

  • That is so true, these two legends of Country music were perfectly matched in thier magnificent duets! Porter and Dolly

had that special chemistry that cannot

be duplicated even after 35 years plus !

  • Always my favorite singers, Dolly and Porter! I love this song, and I enjoyed seeing them sing it. Country music back then was the best. Thanks so much for sharing! I put this on my favorites!

  • Aw I love these two & this song makes me cry!

  • HaHaHa...I thought the same thing!Wonder if she ever got headaches wearing those wigs!Maybe that's what keep her brain warmed up so she can keep writing all her great songs! Talented Plus!

  • I bet she could fall right on her head and it wouldn't hurt a bit!

  • WOW great old memories! Thanks for posting this. Makes me a little sad!

  • It's amazing that someone can be so beautiful, so talented, and so gracious, all at the same time.

  • It's sad but true, I told a friend of mine a picture in my album was "just someone I used to know".

  • Country music today just plain sucks compared to this.

  • I Agree!

  • Preach on brother!!!

  • Even though this was Porter's "show" you can tell how much he respected Dolly as she was really the "star" of the show, But she always was respectful of Porter, too. She was really much too talented for the confines of this small show. Dolly was destined for bigger and better things! Dolly never forgot her roots and never forgot Porter, as she wrote "I will always love you" for Porter. Such a class act! No one can do it better than these two! Thanks for posting!

  • It was pretty obvious that she was going to go on the be the Queen of REAL country music. For the 3rd or 4th year in a row I didn't watch the CMA Rock awards tonight. Instead spent the evening touring through great classics like this on YouTube. Sometimes I just want to hear REAL country.

  • Love listening to their music.

  • Probably the best man and women country duet song of all time. We miss you Porter. RIP

  • I am speachless after watching this... I can hardly breathe. WOW! that is country music. The sincerity, the harmony, the pathos... thank you Miss Dolly and thank you Porter RIP -- a man not ashamed to be country with Captial C.

  • I always have said if Porter sang it, it was country. You never had to guess.

  • You are sure right!

  • i've been waten for someone to post this, i love it so much, thanks!!!

  • Isn't it heartwarming to not only hear, but to also see "REAL COUNTRY" Music performed!!! What a young Dolly and Porter. May he REST IN PEACE.

  • Dolly was a beautiful woman and a great singer

  • Her voice is tingling in this song. When she does the part I DON'T TELL THEM HOW LOST I AM WITHOUT YOU i get chills

  • dolly is a great singer

  • This video is a reminder of what real country music is. It's too bad Nashville right along with The Grand Ole' Opry has forgotten. The true classics will live forever...

  • Thanks for bringing this video back. What a beautiful song.

  • Isn't she so beautiful and he so handsome here? This is a good 30-40 years in distant history. Nevertheless,it brings back sweet, sweet memories.

  • THIS is country music. Unfortunately, it would never even make the charts today.

  • Actually it's a good thing. Could you imagine denigrating this great classic by playing it alongside the garbage on today's "country" radio?

  • @dennisdindin You are EXACTLY right calling stuff "new country" is a freakin LIE

  • @dennisdindin how do you know this music would never make the charts today. i could be the biggest thing in music if someone put it out there. you listened to it and i love it.
