However, because there is no civil/secular marriage here, people don't have the option to go to a justice of the peace and have a non-religious ceremony, like in America. So if a Jewish guy wants to marry a Christian lady he wont find a rabbi inside Israel to make the ceremony. He also will probably not find a priest. The only way it happens is if she becomes Jewish or he becomes Christian.

The other option, beside converting to the other's religion is to fly outside of the country--and have the marriage done outside. (Most Israelis of different religions choose this way.) They just need to go to Cyprus, it's very easy, very quick, and go in front of a judge there. When they go back to Israel, the marriage is recognized as 100% legal here.

I happen to be a civil libertarian and believe there should be civil marriages here--yet you make a distortion to say "marriages between Jews and Gentiles is illegal in Israel". It's not true. The way it works is that only the religious authorities have the power over marriage, divorce, etc...and the government only recognizes certain religious sects--Orthodox Jewish, Muslim, various Christian denominations, Druzes and Bahai. It is then up to the clergies in each sect to make decisions.
