Im a huge progressive & metal fan (dream theater, rush etc) and opeth's unique progressive hypnotic epic metal style fits my preference,anyways i have never learned guitar and do not know much about acoustic, my friend told me though that the chords and speed opeth plays acoustically is ridicilous, is this true or was he just bullshitting me lol? cuz generally i like to know wat im talking about when i refer bands.

yeah opeth's acoustic guitarwork is extremely tricky, but once you learn a couple songs from them (which takes a while) you could probably learn 70% of them quicker.

Out of all of prog they are one of the most complex bands out there. I have no problem playing riffs from Meshuggah, Tool or things like that, but some Opeth riffs really give me trouble. It's the whole timing and tone (not so much the speed). Add in the drumming which is ridiculous...and yeah. Check out Ghost of Perdition 3min in. They use a 12string for all acoustic parts in that song...sounds pretty sick and its moderately fast. I would say your friend is right (not so much about speed tho)

Often there are some crazy signature changes. Listen to Demon of the Fall's acoustic riff. It's not entirely difficult and it's fun to play. And it sounds complex as well. If you want to learn their stuff I suggest you grab a metronome or get guitar pro.
