  • Hey PCWizKid,

I don't know what to buy, this one or this (Asus M4N68T-M LE V2)

    wich one is better?

  • wow the begining sounds awsome

  • i know this is old, but i am looking @ getting this motherboard, i do not have $ for ddr3 ram.....

  • @Zraupp10 DDR 3 is less money then the DDR 2

  • @CallMeMasterBabo

I HAVE DDr2 ram now, why buy motherboard cpu and ram when i can just put my cpu (or buy better cpu) and same ram i have into that mb.

  • is this motherboard compatible with the xfx radeon 5850 with thr right power supply? please reply

  • great motherboard excellent review.

  • why are u using a 1200 watt psu in that system???

  • Wow, i never knew people reviewed motherboards. jesus people.

  • @GamerGuyM yep

  • so od motherboards come with processcors

  • im looking for a CHEAP motherboard that will support a 6 core processor

  • @ej709 better to go with phenom II x2 555BE and good mobo

  • is this motherboard's nick name 785G? Also, can it run AMD Phenom II?

  • Its weird that MSI only gives 1 Sata cable with its motherboards. 2 should have been a better choice.

  • lol i might sound like a idiot but this is my first build i have a motherboard msi 785gm-e51 n a cooler master elite 330 case im at the step that i need to plug in the led lights n the power and reset button on the front panel.

i dnt quite understand the arrow n the g sign on the wires which is - and + please if you can help?

  • wow people ask you dumb questions.

  • Comment removed

  • how's the future proof-ness of this board? I'm also worried of the upcoming USB3 and SATA3 ports

  • can it support gtx480 ??

  • Can this motherboard overclock well?

  • Whats better the amd phenom ii x4 945 or the amd athlon ii x4 620?

  • @joeylegacy2000 the phenoms are a little better but will be higher

  • nice board ! i have it with a amd 965 Be @ 3,8MhZ Oc Hd 5870 Oc 51XXGB DDR 3 1333Mhz so nice and fast

  • Will this mb also take ddr2 memory? i want to wait for the ddr3 to get a price drop but have a mb handy that still supports it.

also, what thermalpaste do you use?

  • Will this unlock extra cores from the Phenom II X2 555 3.2Ghz Black Edition Processor?

  • Does a Phenom x4 965 compatible to this ? And a xigmatek dark-knight, is that ok as a CPU fan ?

  • @2confuzzle yes even phenom II x4 is supported to this board

  • Buy a 890gx g65 is better and supports usb3 and sata3 . Also Phenom X6 will be supported when they arrive later this year.

  • Buy a 890GX G65 or a790gx gd70

This 785gm is a downgrade from the 790 series.

  • long time since ur last motherboard review :P btw i plan on getting a new motherboard since i have the standard packard bell one and i will prolly lay my budget around 140$ or less plz some1 give me some advise

  • you can get allmost any amd motherboard at that price.... this one is good. But allso i depends on what your going to do with it- sli or crosfire? how manny cards you will be using? ddr3 or ddr2?

  • @tallandme13 well whats the diffrence between SLI and Crossfire?

  • Sli is two or more nvidia cards paired up by a sli bridge. crossfire is 2 or more ati cards paired up by a crossfire bridge.

your pretty much making 2 cards work like one- kinda like raid 0 on hardrives

  • Those temperatures are AWESOME! Almost UNBELIEVABLE. Only 18 celsius? That's great. My pentium 4 ht runs at 47 celsius at idle... *gulp*

  • awesome

  • Hi PCWizKid

can this mobo support the Phenom II X4 945 (3.0G) 8mb B.E.? If so could you recommend a good fan cooler if ever i decide to over clock? and would a 600w PSU suffice?

  • @renekenshin6573 yes it does support the Phenom you mention. 600W is enough and a Cooler Master Cooler would be great.

  • @PCWizKid

Thanks man your a lot of help

Keep up the good reviews :D

  • @PCWizKid hey dude if i get this board can this support phenom ii x 4 955 without interfering with the bios?

  • @renekenshin6573 945 not BE !

  • hey wiz... i just watch your review...

anyway... im plannin to buy a motherboard which has a AMD 785 chipset

which do you think is much better? this MSI 785GM-E65

    or a

    ECS A785GM-M

help me please.. what to choose.. thanks

  • I'd vote MSI.

ECS boards (for some reason) only tend to support 95w CPU's and lower (where as most of the Phenom II CPU's are higher than that).

  • hi... i thank you respond to my querry... ya.. i really think i will get this motherboard PCWizKid recommend.. thanks alot

  • is it better than

    MSI 790FX-GD70

  • @GICTechTV nop

  • would this mobo fit in a atx case?

  • @bambihumper, yes it will

  • great! thanks love yr vids

  • sad that it does not have reset cmos button:(

  • 0611930024838

    MSI 785GM-E65 - AM3 Motherboard Support Athlon II x4 620 !

  • i just got here, looks like its working fine... thanks!

  • Atlhon II x4 620 support??? do i need an updade?? wat about the gigabyte version, will that one nedd one?

  • Buy a Phenom II x3 720 or Phenom II x4 810 ! And you get up to 27%perfomance! )

  • thinking about 720 on this, 4Gb 1333 Ram. (don't decided GPU yet)

I've notised that it's only one port for mouse/Kayboard, Tho I need two ( one for mouse and one for keyboard) =/ 3:39

  • im drooling love it

  • Great review! Looks like the ideal board to upgrade my system :D

Do you think this board will be able to run a C3 revision Phenom II 965 at 4GHz? Would be great to get you input on this please :)

    5/5! :D

  • of course it will. its an overclocking board that will run a 140w tdp processor :]

  • Thanks :)

Decided to hold off for 800 series chipset motherboards and Thuban 6-Core next year, really don't need to upgrade from a DDR2 Phenom II 920 @ 3.4GHz just yet :)

  • good idea : D. by then you could probably afford another graphics card as well

  • can you make a review about the MSI 785GT-E63?

  • can u fit a soundcard on the pci x1?

  • @berryfafilling, yes you can, just make sure your sound card says its a pci express 1 x slot card.

  • im going to attempt once more to drill this through your thick fucking skull...4 gtx 295's=impossible, no technology (as of now) exists that allows you to have 8 gpus in one pc, its a physical impossibility, most you can have is 4 gpu's...that could be 2 gtx295's (which are two gtx285's in one card), 4 gtx 285's, four ati cards (unless its the x2 cards, then 2 of those=4 gpu's), so...there are no "custom mods" or any shit like that to make this possible, because its not

  • bought the E51 a few days ago, arrived today, cannot wait to install ! :)

  • awesome broad i have mine with a athlon ii x4 260 clocked @ 3.5 gigs but not sure about unlocking core with acc haven't had a chance to test that 5 stars highly recommended

  • awesome video...what cooler do you use? PLS REPLY - Im going to overclock Athlon X2 (2.8GHz) to 3.2GHz and I need the best cooler I can get.

hope you uderstand-my english is pretty bad :)

  • hehe lian li

  • @NellylarK, yes it is too much :P

  • I have 4 pci e with 4 295GTX crds

  • and u sir have no life

  • to bad thats not possible

  • Ya but its costem mod

  • dude, 4 gtx 295's would mean 8 gpu's, because the 295 is two 285's, therefore its not possible, most cards you could do is 4 285's, thats the only card that supports 4 way sli, 4 way sli for the 295 is two 295's

  • What are difference between E65 and E51....is e51 is of the same quality....?

  • pcwizkid techtalk i need help i have motherboard gigabyte 7VT600 F8 and i have swith for cpu and i must swith it becuase pc not going well starting recovery bios and end with balck screen and when i swith pc go on 1,4ghz overlocked and i have before 1,9ghz overlocked and i need help to get the 1,9ghz back i dont have viruses bios no update found and i try reset bios not work so plz help

  • I just purchased this motherboard with the 550 I'll let you know if I'm able to unlock all four cores... Crosses fingers....

  • Did you try to unlock the cores on the 550?

  • @mikeniccy, of corse I tried, but this board doesnt let me. I'm going to try again on another board and will let you know if it works.

  • Have you tested other BIOS's or just the one which came with the Mobo? It makes a big difference.

  • On-Board Graphics card?With HDMI?That's the first one.

  • no it's not

  • What I meant is that Its the first time I encountered such an on-board card.

    Understand English?

  • So basically, your argument is based on pressumptions. One being that you need a better processor, when the average processor has not been established. And most motherboards support SLI or CrossFire, so you have no point. A motherboard that costs more will also have better over-clocking ability and will typically last longer since better materials are used (japanese capacitors, copper, etc).

On a gaming PC, the GPU is what matters most, not a CPU. CPU is next.

  • Are you shitting me? If the CPU doesn't matter, then what's going to calculate physics and AI, along with many other computations? Read benchmarks, and you'll find that even at higher resolutions the CPU will matter. True, the GPU matters the most, but the CPU is almost as important. You'll need a beefy processor in order for it not to be the limiting factor on your GPUs' performance. You're, again, ignoring my points, "Atheismrulez."

    You can't prove me wrong.

  • Never said the CPU doesn't matter. I said, what matters most is the GPU, and after that the CPU. Fail at trying to twist my argument.

What I said: "On a gaming PC, the GPU is what matters most, not a CPU. CPU is next."

Meaning GPU matters most, and CPU comes second. Which is true.

  • But you fail since you recommend multi-graphics solutions.

  • Nice ad-hominem. You have no argument left, so all you do is make personal attacks. Nice going...

Anyway, I just demonstrated briefly that a multi-GPU solution is more cost-effective. Most motherboards support CrossFire and SLI, so it's really a non-issue.

  • you guys make long discussion i ever seen .....lol..

  • LOL.

  • It depends if your game is Cpu limited (like most strategy or race games) or Gpu limited (like most fps or action games) So wich matters the most depends what game your playing.

  • For physics there's Physx by Nvidia now. So the GPU is becoming a more determining factor now than ever. More games are coming out supporting Physx, and, as you know, a GPU has a lot more raw computational power than a CPU.

  • Not really ... if your running high resolutions with a beefy card (gtx 295 for example) then a Phenom II x3 720 will have almost indentical performance as a i7 in most games..

The cpu is important sure but very high end cpu's like the i7 are overkill atm for gaming.. they are still nice tho for furtureproofsness

  • Science & technology rules

    Religions sucks ass

    end of discussion .

  • The point is that, as you know, the higher the resolution, the more pixels that need to be rendered by the GPU; at a resolution of 1920x1200, your GPU has to do a lot more work than at something like 1280x1024. Future games will use more frame buffer. If you add another GPU, you have double the frame buffer plus the added performance of enabling both GPUs. What this means is that in a resolution like 1920x1200, where you'd get something like 35 FPS, you could get 55-60 FPS afterwards.

  • There will be cards with larger frame buffer in the future to accommodate these games, so your argument is false.

    You can't prove me wrong.

Oh, and for my last post which I forgot to say it:

    You can't prove me wrong.

  • Ugh, here we go again. You reply one more time with the stupid "statement" saying 'you can't prove me wrong', and you'll earn a block and I won't reply to your comments. You have no point, and have never have; there is nothing to be proved wrong if you have no point to begin with.

  • How could I not have had a point to begin with? My point was that multi-graphics solutions are a waste of money. If you can't recognize that then you lose, so you have lost because of that, but also because you're an atheist, but I'll take that off since you're also a libertarian, as am I.

  • "There will be cards with larger frame buffer in the future to accommodate these games, so your argument is false."

Yes, and no. New cards with larger framebuffers will exist in the future but a dual-GPU is always more cost effective. When new technology comes out, it costs more. Case in point: when the GTX 280 came out, it costed $600. But you could set a 9800GTX+ SLI for $450 and get the same performance, making it more cost effective.

  • Of course, you'll be coupled with more heat and more power draw, and you'll also have to shell out more money for a better processor and an SLI/Crossfire motherboard to prevent bottlenecks. so that will equate to failure.

    You can't prove me wrong.

  • The difference in power draw is negligible. The 5 amps more it consumes is less than $5 yearly compared to a GTX 280. In three years, which is when one would typically upgrade, it only adds $15 or so. $15<$150.

"and you'll also have to shell out more money for a better processor and an SLI/Crossfire motherboard to prevent bottlenecks."

Wrong. That doesn't depend on if wether you have a dual-GPU or not. It's dependent on frame buffer and how much CPU the game itself uses.

    No points yet.

  • That's patently untrue. If you have 2 cards you're going to be drawing much more power than any single card guaranteed. Now you're just making up nonsense. You ignored my comment about heat management. Way to go. Just proves again that...

    You can't prove me wrong.

  • you have a " intresting " username. lol

  • And it doesn't suck up much power at all. The requirement for a Radeon HD 4830 CrossFire is a 550-watt power supply, and you can get a brand 600-watt PSU for less than $75. If you get a high-end card to accomplish what you can do in a multi-GPU configuration, you'd still be using about the same power since the higher-end card will use more. Case in point: a Radeon HD 4890 has a 500-watt PSU requirement, while a Radeon HD 4830 has a 550-watt PSU requirements. 50-watt difference. HOLY SHIT!

  • Watt ratings are meaningless. All that matters are the amount of amps on your 12v rails. Therefore, you're wrong. Multi-graphics suck up too much power for my liking.

    You can't prove me wrong.

  • Don't get me wrong, I will confess that I'm an AMD/ATI loyalist, but I just don't see the point in Crossfire/SLi.

  • Probably because you're not a gamer. But if you were, it would be totally worth it. You typically get a frame rate increase of at least 40-80 FPS, and you get to play games in the future at max. settings. But for the average user, not even a

  • Lol? I'm a very avid gamer, and my single HD4670 works for me just fine. The human eye cannot tell the difference past 60FPS anyway.

  • Now try to use that for doing gaming at anything higher than 1680x1050 and tell me how it goes. The point of multi-GPU configurations is that you gain a lot of performance at resolutions of 1680x1050 and higher. If you have a large monitor, you'll probably need to do it if you need to be future-proof. Also remember that at a resolution like 1920x1200 (or also 1920x1080), the frame-buffer is gonna start to run out if you don't have more than 512MB VRAM.

  • I know it won't cut it for a high resolution like that. That's why I'd buy a more powerful card to replace the current one I have. I only have a 17 inch at 1440x900, and right now I can do pretty much everything without complaints, but that's just me. Different people have different standards.

  • i love boards that come with vga and dvi built in cause u dont even need to use a video card to put dual moniters... even tho it'll be laggy

  • holy fk amagine water cooling its gunna be like 20C full load lol

  • only a 4pin powerconectore what a fail

  • @HongKongKanto, why? this is a MicroATX board, not a full ATX, you dont need a 8pin power connector for a simple board like this.

  • 18C?! thats 65F! damn, either your room was insanely cold your your thermal sensor is a little off.

  • @qwertymac93, yes I admit it, I had the Air Conditioner in the room on , it was like 19C room temp.

  • overclocking the Front Side Bus? isn't this an amd chip base? it should HyperTransport Link right?

  • @dmx0206, watch my video agai, you will see in the CPU-Z that there is a BUS speed and a HT Link speed . AMD has both. FSB is a general term that applies to both Intel and AMD.

  • i sdont need :D i have normaly 35 celsius

  • i have max 45 celsius full load

  • nice

  • i have idleC LOL

  • 26 celsius on 100% load??? wow!!!

My cpu reaches 103º celsius on load! (It's a centrino m760, so it's not that unusual).

  • Thats way to much guy... I get a tear when i see 70 at 100% load

  • awesome price 89.99

  • awesome motherboard

  • looks nice ied buy it

  • Damn 26 Celsius on load? wow I need that cooler.

  • dude how do you get all this hardware?

  • The companys give em to him to review.

  • Killer!

    Nice review, Awesome buy!

  • A nice board, very user friendly.

  • pcwizkid you forgot to mention the onboard codec plus the version.

  • @3dkiller, you can read the full review on my website. click the link on the right of the video.

  • oh oke Thanks ill check it out thanks for responding.

  • nice

  • nice board but to bad just 1 slot

  • cool

  • That is Nice! Ultimate Motherboard!

  • SLI does not give a higher max FPS or very few in a game. What it does however is to raise the minimum FPS so the FPS in the game is more stable and thus increase the average FPS.

It is not worth the money.

  • looks really nice

  • thank god u did this review this is the one i am buying i was going to ask u to do a review on this but u already did..PS i bet u got this on New egg

  • It's a mixed bag.

  • 785G FTL. It brings no real improvements over 780G. No Crossfire: automatically fail.

  • Multi-graphics = waste of money. You can't prove me wrong.

  • Yes, I can. Go to Tom's Hardware and search for the review on Radeon HD 4890 CrossFire. At 2560x1600, you get 95% better performance than using a single card. Now, how is getting that much more performance a waste of money?

    "You can't prove me wrong."

    I just did.

  • By putting 2 of the same card in Crossfire or SLi, I want twice the performance. If I don't get that, it's a waste of money.

    You can't prove me wrong.

  • It seems like you're the only one that thinks that. Everyone is happy with getting 60-95% more performance. It's theoretically impossible to get 100% scaling, so you're a delusional idiot. By putting a Radeon HD 4850 in Crossfire, you get more performance than a Radeon HD 4890, GTX 280 and 275, and about the same performance as a GTX 285. So it is worth it, you fucktard. For getting that much performance, you're only paying $200. For the GTX 285, you're paying $300+.

    Proved wrong again.

  • No, it's not worth it, because when I pay twice the amount of one card I want twice the performance. If I can't get this, then I might as well forget about multi-graphics solutions.

    Prove me wrong.

  • No, you don't. You're COMPLETELY missing the point. You buy a Radeon HD 4870 now for $140 currently to play all the latest games at high resolutions, and 5 months from now it should cost roughly $80, and you buy it at a lower price to keep playing the latest and future games. That's the point, you fucktard.

Proved wrong again, and your IQ seems to be of 60. Not the same price, so your argument is unfounded right off the back.

  • No, because I want twice the performance of that card even if it costs less, which doesn't seem to be the case.

    You can't prove me wrong.

  • I can't prove wrong what? You have no point to begin with. There is no point. AMD nor Nvidia have ever said "100% scaling" for any of their GPUs. You're a delusional troll with no arguments. It's always been marketed as 50-90% better performance, which is true.

    Now fuck off.

  • No. I've received numerous testimonies from people who have tried multi-graphics and they have all said it's a waste. It's not 100% scaling, and it sucks up lots of power, so it's a waste.

    You can't prove me wrong.

  • Right, and you think I care about your or other people's "testimony"? And all I've heard is praise by people I know because what they did is buy one for a more expensive price and then buy it cheap some months afterwards and you get a lot more performance in games.

And no one had claimed that it's 100% scaling, nor does anyone care. Your argument has no validation when you consider the vast number of people that have done multi-GPU configurations and like it.

  • Yes it does have validation because multi-graphics solutions are for fools who think they're getting better prerformance, but they're not.

    You can't prove me wrong.

  • Who wants Crossfire on an integrated mATX motherboard in the first place? Wrong demographic.

  • I think you're missing the point, 785G isn't the enthusiast platform. It is intended for media and basic home use.

If you want Crossfire on a mATX board, DFI have the Lan Party Jr. 790GX mATX board. I don't think it is AM3 but that won't be far off :P

As a happy user of 780G i can confidently say 785G FTW! :P

  • The audio is out of sync.

  • don't watch it in HD.

  • I didn't.

  • oh nvm then

  • How did you get Windows 7 RTM?

  • torrent :)

  • Bit Torrents.

  • no sli or crossfire..

  • No overheating issue when oc'ing the vga? why doesn't it come oc'd from factory then, or would you recommend a certain cooling upgrade for it?

  • Asus 785g mb is better but this one is great too for 10-20dollars cheaper.

  • dude how do u know so much about motherboards??

like the names of all the parts, what they do and stuff like that??

    how do u know??

can u tell me ur sources!

    plzz

    thanks man

  • Watching other vids.

  • Just google it...

  • Nice find, I was looking at a mobo to go with the athlon II X2 you reviewed, and I was checking out an ASUS Crosshair III Formula AMD AM3 DDR3 ATX SATA, it's an awesome board, but it doesn't have onboard video, I usually hate on-board video but i'm too cheap to buy a new card for now, and my current card is a x850xt agp, so It won't work (and doesnt have pix shader 3 boo)

  • oh please no.... no Vista videos... maybe you can review different hardware or even peripherals...

  • whoa 2GB ATI lol

  • Not bad! Nice video and review!

  • I'm waiting for Direct X 11 although I do like the fact heir making more AM3 boards!

  • cool

  • Does it support the AMD Athlon II X2 250?

  • Because I'm stuck between buying this or the Jetway HA08 AM3 Motherboard. This is cheaper though on Newegg.
