  • who wrote this?lizzy?just awesome.never got the credit they deserved in america.i believe if they pushed the cowboy song in the u.s they would have been bigger here,

  • Thin Lizzy did a hell of a cover of this song, lol.

@Sluggo1971 they are Irish, not Scottish. But yes, I'm proud to be Irish, a bit more then my English side. I people so like it, then they can pog mo thoin

  • @frankisfunny2007 if people don't like it*

  • The instrumentals are so badass that the songs don't even need a chorus.

  • The best band ever.

  • its called emerald because its a gem

  • great rock song, whenever I hear it it always sounds fresh and clean.

  • proto power metal song

  • Sounds a bit like Eddie Money in a fit of rage. Great classic track by the late, great Marco Mendoza!!! May his rock-n-roll spirit live 4ever.

  • love this song...it rocks!!!

  • this song is firkin awesome! the guitar is brilliant, as usual, but everything else too! phil's basslines arent always too intricate (but very often they are) but they're always awesome, and fit impeccably. these guys arent in the rock n roll hall of fame?? bullshit. I live in cleveland and i refuse to go there until justice is realized! dammit!!

  • Every great artist EVER covered first!

  • Even better than the version on Jailbreak. Sounds thicker and heavier.

  • Why's everyone bitching about covering songs? All you gotta do if you come to this video is listen to the funky bass line and the funky drum line and the funky riffs and the funky vocals and listen to it all come together and make funky melodies...because isn't that what listening to music is all about?

  • ...and, from this, Iron Maiden were born.

  • COVERING A SONG ISNT EVOLUTION. ITS COPYING

  • all music needs to be covered, without evolution all that is left is stagnation.

  • best thin lizzy song ever!!!

  • 2:03 - 2:20 = Indescribable guitar rift

  • one of lizzy's great song....holla guys!! song rocks!

  • Comment removed

  • in my personal opinion the best song ever of the band

  • Yeah the Sword should cover this!

  • tb20 anyone?

  • That ladies and gentlemen is Cock Rock!

  • the sword should cover this song

  • have been listening to this since 1979

  • you can see where Maiden took their influence

  • love that

  • this is my ass kicking song! RIP you bass thumpin irishman <3

  • knight music

  • Ooh...Iike this one a little more than the Jailbreak one.

  • The only band allowed to cover this song is Mastodon

  • @ElBurrito1031 agreed. Listen to the harmony riffs in Crystal Skull. Pure Lizzy.

  • such an awsome song and insane solo

  • the tuning is fucked up-awesome

  • no fucking dislikes! this song just earned it.

  • w1n5t0n1985 absolute nonsense

  • The only song in history that makes you want to wear a kilt and an afro at the same time. Simply awesome.

  • @Sluggo1971 Epic comment.

  • @Sluggo1971 abso fucking lutely l;ol

  • @Sluggo1971 faggggggggggg, u r a douchey fag... kilts are traditionally scottish!

  • Why call them a "douchey fag" just because they didn't know that Kilts are Scottish not Irish... Not everyone know's everything about all topics, and sometimes people make mistakes... Learn some fucking common courtesy...

  • @Mjollnir1990 you have a good attitude , thats always a good thing

  • @brendogg

speaking as a scot..... i do know that kilts are worn in ireland aswell, infact all around the celtic fringe including wales and cornwall

  • @sgbigsby1989 all celtic peoples wear tartan type patterns but the kilt was a thing made up by the english to represent each scottish clan apparently. So kilts really werent even scottish and they deffinitely arent irish. But who really gives a fuck they are good craic to wear at weddings so we can both claim them now

  • @brendogg The song references Ireland where exactly captain cocksucker?

  • @Sluggo1971 lad the song is called emerald

  • Of course some songs must not be covered but the best cover of this song I' ever heard is from Dare. Check it out...

  • my dad's making me an album for my birthday and I told him this song HAD to be on it :D R.I.P Gary Moore, you were and always will be possibly the greatest guitarist of your time

  • Mastodons cover of this is as soulful and amazing as the original, no more, no less. I happen to like Mastodons cover more than the original because it's more technical, and thats what I'm into. That's my opinion, however. Regardless, if you say that any one song should never be covered, you are an elitist tool who doesn't understand the real point of music.

  • @Emillovic When you buy a song it gets downloaded onto whatever device you bought it with -_-

  • i like Skyclad's cover (with the fiddle) .... Lizzy was the real deal

  • que pasada de tema, nunca pasa de moda

  • where can i download this song!!!!!

  • Just found this song. Fantastic. I see them doing this song with The Chiefains like the Rolling Stones did on Rocky Road to Dublin. Is Thin Lizzy still together?

  • @zitlight73 I believe the guys still play out--without the mighty Philo, though, of course. RIP \m/

  • Brocas Helm did the best cover of this (live).

  • Dragonlord's cover of this is pretty good. It captures it.

  • @UberNoodleX Better is Mastodon

  • @madudis Dragonlord is better.

  • @UberNoodleX I dont think so. ;)

  • @madudis I do. ;)

  • no dislikes the way it should be

  • LOVE THIS SONG AND THIN LIZZY

  • I loveeeeee the intro! its awesome!

  • great tune,,I wanna drive about 120 in my car,,like,,now,,lol

  • there wouldn't be metallica with out thin lizzy and diamond head

  • I say a band cover this....but they have to have the same passion and heart as Thin Lizzy. Dont matter if its steve vai or jeff loomis doing those leads. what this song has is heart period.

  • @salvathor14 mastodon does, it's sick

  • @salvathor14 Passion and heart are scarce commodities in today's music industry.

  • @salvathor14 mastodon did a pretty decent cover

  • @salvathor14 try the mastodon cover.

  • @smuck06 Yes but they can also ruin a fantastic tune. Behind Blue Eyes was never meant to be in the mouth of a spoiled brat. Ever.

  • think they record over most of there live stuff but fuck it still sounds great

  • U want Tenacious d to cover this Seriously man? get bent!

  • I don't get where your coming from on the Tenacious D thing. It really doesn't make much sense... Maybe Jailbreak or Boys are back in town, but not this-

  • Yeah, Metallica already defiled Whiskey in a jar! What a fucking joke! Those cocksuckers had no business doing that tune- They butchered it!

  • @godofslumber yea but whiskey in a jar is a cover any way. its an old irish drinking song. thin lizzy just did there own version of it. but i agree metalica should never have coverd it

  • classic

  • No one should cover this, leave it alone.....

  • @ss180jay Why not? If people enjoy the music it should be played. It's not like Phil Lynnot is going to return from the grave and start playing it live.

  • @ss180jay

i love the cover by skyclad, so i have to disagree.

  • Mastodon did a pretty sweet cover.

  • @JellyArmJohnson So did Skyclad.

  • @ss180jay True dat!!

  • @ss180jay now then wheres the fun in being the musician?

  • @ss180jay Yeah, heaven forbid musicians enjoying an amazing song and showing their appreciation by carrying on the creative spirit Lizzy invoked. You think they got where they were by making the music of their time "alone"?

Stop being such an elitist and enjoy the music.

  • @ss180jay mastadon did a cool cover.

  • @ss180jay skyclad covered that, and i prefere their version^^

  • @ss180jay mastadon did and it was epic. Not as good as the origional but still very good.

  • Tenacious D should do a cover of this

  • Dont ever compare TD to this you fucking bellend sucker.

  • you fucking asshole, nobody COMPARED them.

  • Tenacious D? Are you serious?

  • yeah a COVER do you know what a cover is, why the fuck shoudnt they

  • good song

  • They never play the leads the same way twice ( Gorham and Robertson) but it always seemed to work. You can take any of the best guitarist in the world (except Gary Moore) and they couldn't touch those leads.
