Counterlooping requires timing to hit the ball on the rise just about net level.

This is one of the hardest shots to do in table tennis because you're countering topspin with topspin which means you need to top the ball off with a very fine touch or else the ball will most likely miss the table like in 0:05.

The ability to master counter topspin with topspin, especially at this close range, is one of the things that seperate the pros from the rest.
