  • OH MY GOD THIS IS THE NOISE I HEARD TONIGHT! I couldn't for the LIFE of me figure it out! Thank you SO MUCH!

  • @Palitato You are very welcome! I love the sound of the owls.. even though it is a tad eerie..

  • what is the white dots?

    take care

  • I think it's Big Foot!!!!

  • It sounds like a monkey LOL !!!!!!

  • The owls sound funny

  • These are the terratorial calls of the Barred Owl. It's these calls that have given rise to the name "crazy owl" in describing this owl. I used to call up Barred owls in my backyard when I was younger and this particular call was almost always the response I got. The owls thought that another owl had entered their turf. I believe they may also use this call during mating season. My favorite owl.

  • Love it !!!!

  • ive heard the owls sound like that before in kansas city now i live in ga and have several owls in the tree over my house, (in the city) i talk to them and they talk back

  • Great video!!! My 5 year old wanted to hear what owls sounded like and so we found this video. He said "They kind of sound like monkeys!" I personally like the owls that give a nice quiet little "whoo whoo" at night. Me and my son both love owls and would love to have one as a pet but I know they are better off and happier in the wild. :/

  • @AlliCatV ... Thanks so much for the great comment! I love the owls...

  • Boobies

  • LOVE IT!!!! I love to listen to the Barred owls in my neighborhood. And that's just about the way mine call! They are almost funny when they get going! Love it, thanks for the great post. No worries on not having video. I think you would have to put alot of money into trying to film all of them!

  • I used to hear an owl outside my house at night a lot, and I think it was a Great Horned Owl, but it could possibly have been a Barred Owl. I know I've heard them around before too. They can make such scary noises!

  • That is so awesome!!!! BTW, don't let anyone pick on your accent-I LOVE IT!!! GOD BLESS THE SOUTH!!!

  • @heelsfantim .. Thanks for watchin'- and I appreciate the nice comment!

  • Owls are so cool... We have many different species in the woods here in Nebraska.

I love your recordings! Barred owls have one of the eeriest calls.

  • where are you from

  • where are you from

  • This helps - I have heard a similar sound last night - very creepy and this around 2 am. Thought it "might" be owls - but this pretty much confirms it. We do not have a great deal of wildlife here in Atlanta - but this sounds like what I heard.

  • i can't be alone there!

  • I lived for 4 and a half years near a park here in canada bc, and those are for sure barred owls..they love to chat it up with each other like that. made friends with one very formidable character of an owl who liked to announce himself regularly. very ' depth of the soul ' kind of experience.

  • so true!

  • Omg, this is the freaky sound i've been hearing at night. I didn't think it was an owl because I hear owl sounds while hearing this freaky sound and it made me think something was attacking or bothering the owls. I have been searching for answers and this helps alot, thanks!

  • Well glad to help! and Thanks for watchin it!

  • You're right! These are definately those puffy Barred owls. thomashcooper2001, they are Barred owls. Great Horned Owls make the classic owl sound. Barred owls love to make catterwalling when there are a group of them. gardenmagik, you have a beautiful accent!

  • Thank you so much!

  • where are you from? you have an accent like from the area I live?

  • cool fact i thought i might share with you since you shared this with me... Owls can not move their eyes in their sockets like humans thats why they can turn their head farter then a human they can't actually turn it all the way around but close... thanks for sharing your vid!

  • There must be a popular Owl club near your property. They may be pairing up for mating. Very interesting audio.

  • Ha! LOL Yes, I think i must agree with you !

  • Wow, that is too cool! I heard something weird outside my house too the other night, but it didn't sound like this, it was more like screaching! LOL, I was about to poo my pants, and I opened the door and whistled for my cat, so whatever it was wouldn't try to eat him up.

  • hey girly! Thanks for watchin ! Yeah, u prolly have some screech owls! heehee!! those sounds in the night can be crazy!

  • even though I live in the city, we live by a patch of land the city uses as a park. in the summer the owls for some odd reason like our house. they sit in our pine tree. when they fly down to grab a mouse or eat a bug there wings are so beautiful. the only thing I dont like about them is the howl they seem to want to do all night long, we have gotte use to it though.

  • Hey Michelle! Arent they beautiful!?? I wish i could get the actual owls on video... maybe i will get lucky...
