  • Is that a Federal Signal SD-10 siren I see behind 763?

  • @cc10266 shit, you're right!! nice catch

  • Just use an existing locomotive frame rather than make a slug shorter?

  • @robertgift pretty much

  • 19 CRASH DUMMIES DID NOT LIKE THIS VIDEO

  • Is a slug just weights on traction motors?

They get their electrical power from the locomotive?

    Thank you.

  • @robertgift yes

  • @Nathanrailfan Thank you.

I'm surprised that slugs are not shorter and the weight stacked taller to make up for it.

  • @robertgift Most slugs were GP9's or RS-3's, RS-10's and RS-18's at one time. The slugs were no greater than a GP9. Even BNSF used a SD9 for a slug. SD9 is same HP as a GP9.

  • @robertgift yes. the slug gets its power from the mother loco. to take the strain off and to prevent overheating the traction motors.

  • Right at first look it seems that the loco's untouched. Then you realize that the front handrails are missing.

  • What's that little half CN engine thing? Never seen that before

  • @JTYTGaming If you are referring to CN 212, that is a slug unit, a rebuilt from a GP9m.

  • @Nathanrailfan Is it basically an engine but no room for the engineer? 'Cause it's shorter, and I know the engines are pretty tall - so I'm confused

  • @JTYTGaming No. Slugs have no gas tanks, no prime mover, no cab of any kind. The only thing that functions and that the railroad uses it for is the traction motors. You can't get in it. Slugs are used mostly for yard movements. At one point, this slug was a CN GP9m. Slugs get their power from the mother locomotive. (not shown in the video). It would have been a CN GP9 pulling the slug. The slug is MU'ed together.

  • @Nathanrailfan Sweet, that's pretty cool. Thanks for the info

  • @JTYTGaming You're welcome. ;-)

  • I would steal the horn and bell of that shit in no time. ;p

  • Seems like with lots of engines that crash they get scrapped

  • If I had to choose any locomotive in that yard, I would choose BC RAIL sd40-2.

  • Wow, what a crash!!

  • where is this?

  • a crude end for such a beuty

  • crash national

  • @ronzon100 lool to bad its bc rail =)

  • thats too bad. What a great looking unit

  • Dude, that really teared me up. :""-(

  • If this was after 2004, I would say that CN did that on purpose.

  • a bcr crew hit a logging truck - she was rebuilt and then scrapped less then a year later

  • With a federal signal sd-10 in the background.

  • That locomotive is fixed. It was involved in a grade crossing accident. It is fixed in CN's Edmonton shops. I found a photo if you need it from another author.

  • it was repaired at SRY it hit a logging truck - thanks. CN cannibalized the unit they took off the whistle, took out the control stand, etc etc etc...

  • New name, CN = Cannibal National.

  • that is pretty funny :)

  • where is this photo

  • I have a pic of this locomotive.

  • it is gone now

  • nooooooo

  • It SD40-2?

  • that is correct

  • its COOOOL!

    BC SD40-2!

    5 rating!

  • where is this? I really badly want to know

  • Surrey BC... looking over into the yard

  • BNSF owns em all amazing shot if i got that view i woulda craped my pants absolutly awsome

  • Cool footage. Looks like a little railway party-something you'd see on Thomas the Train. If so, I bet all the other locos hated the CN one though...ha-ha

  • Nah thats not that bad, they'll repair it and probaly, but hopefully NOT paint it in the CN scheme.....

  • what happened to it

  • read below

  • oh i didnt see that thanks

  • Wow, 4 diffrent locos from 4 different companies in one shot. Right on. CP rules, don't know about BNSF, I don't have to tell you about CN.

  • also NF in there... - yeah!

  • I believe that accident happened on the 794 Fort Nelson Sub mile logging truck vs train 763 on point. The crew had to jump out of there seats and hit the floor. I believe the accident happened in 2007. I was sent out as the engineer to clean up the mess. They used a wrap around hose around the 763 because the entire units electrical and air lines damaged. I had to set up the trailing unit as lead and drag the train into Zeke run around it and make for Fort St John. I am the best hogger in world
