What Moore leaves out, which mars his credibility, is that Nixon dropped his administration's HMO plans after pressure from doctors and other groups.

So how did we get HMOs anyway?

Edward Kennedy (Democrat) then wrote his own HMO bill, called the HMO Act of 1973. He touted it as real progress to help all those uninsured Americans. The bill was passed Dec 1973.

explain that to my son who is now disabled, almost died at the ripe old age of 13 (in 1991) because blue cross continually denied services for medical treatment. They didn't have a problem taking my premiums for years. for your info, there are not an "army of lawyers" do you think I have not tried all avenues since my son was diagnosed in 1991? The Insurance Co. help to write most of the laws regulating their industry. "Reviewing" and "Redflaging" are two things I'm quite familiar with and they use them often. The problem with that is the delay in medical treatment while they use those legal tools to deny claims. In the early 90's Ca enacted some tough laws to counter these but it still gave them 30 days.
