i disagree with everyone. i think the significance of wearing hmong clothes to the funeral was to show that clint eastwood was indeed very close to the hmong family. it also showed a greater respect. i thought the movie was great. sue and thao did a great job acting. i don't think clint eastwood was trying to go for someone who looks good. it was more of someone who can portray the role well, and they both did. ^_^

true ... i agree...i rented the movie from redbox and i was dissappointed that it looks so fake the way the Hmong people talk in there was so silent and not real normal conversation...all i see was East and tao then sue most and at the end was bad that part when Sue and tao wore Hmong clothes to the Funeral with her black eyes...in real life, Hmong people do not wore Hmong clothes to Funeral it's suppose to be the dead only... Hmong culture has been around for thousands of years and some of the rituals have slightly changed due to immigration and urbanization. Throughout time rituals have always varied from tribe to tribe therefore there is no one-way of performing the pre-funeral rituals, the burial rituals and the post burial rituals Besides,it was not a Hmong funeral in the movie!!
