Some cars, SUVs, and buses have a kinda sorta automatic/manual transmission hybrid system that lets you use the gear shift to shift into lower and lower gears. That assists in de-acceleration. Sadly, very few new drivers of today's generation know that such a thing exists. This looks like some rural community in the Midwest. It consists of very flat land. If this was in the Appalachians, than such actions would be more understandable.

we had a similar thing like this about two years ago like we had an electrical issue with the door switch so it started a small fire in the front of the bus so they got it put out didnt cause too much damage that was in the morning so the afternoon comes and the mechanic said he fixed it that it was a loose wire and it caught on fire again but it was massive this time

this is what happenes if you don't release the brake properly you have to make shure you charge up your air brake and don't hold down your service brake while releasing the parking brake because you take air pressure away from the system and it would cause a brake drage, and another thing check the slack adjuster on the brake so the service brake doesn't drag.

The driver of this bus wasn't smart enough to know when the brakes are locked let alone responsible enough to stop driving it when the brakes are smoking? Has no business being a bus driver.

@lightpaws25 The brakes don't have to engage fully to heat the drums up enough to cause a fire. The heat from the drums can cause pyrolysis to occur in the tires (a chain chemical reaction causing a rapid build up of heat and pressure inside the tire), even after you first notice smoke. If the brakes are out of adjustment, one side may be doing all the braking, but building up more heat. Until you KNOW all the facts, you can't pass judgment on the driver.

Brake/Tire fires Suck!! If the brake cam sticks in a drive wheel allot of the time you don't even know it till POOF. I had a trailer tire do that I was able to keep moving till the recap slung off and saved the trailer.
