Argentina Vs. S. Korea was played in Mexico DF Olympic stadium, not in Irapuato.

I think the world cup in South Africa should be the best world cup since 1990. it is unlikley to be as good but it is a country with a raw passion for football, alot like Mexico in 1986. Bring on June 11th!

I think this World Cup had many big players such as Maradona, Platini, Zico, Laudrup, Butragueño, Francescoli, Tigana, Sanchez, Matthaus, Socrates and many others. I will remember this tornament forever

I used to have this tape and the '90 tape. These were very well narrated and presented. You could actually get a feel for how the competition went and the emotions. The WC tapes of the more recent cups, are just a mashup of a bunch of goals. Often times you barely have any idea what countries were grouped together.

I really wish the recent WCs had complete tapes like this. These tapes helped me get a sense of history from the World Cup, the countries, and the players that participated.

Thanks markosparko78, I once had this exact tape and I remember it fondly. It's well narrated, unlike the tapes you got with contemporary music in the background and goals stitched together :) btw they're screening the OFFICIAL FIFA FILMS on the ESPN Classic channel in the weekends now.

I was 7 years old when this world cup was on. Watching Maradonna scoring that goal against England left a massive impression on me. My love for football never stopped growing since then.

I agree with all your comments, but in my opinion, the second best, after Mexico 1970. Mexico 1986 was full of emotion, and had, yes, the best final game of the history. Once again, Markos, thanks for the memories!!...

I agree with mediwarm. back in those days football was more territorial and national so players weren't in every league. a national side really was a national side. now the WC is bloated, with medicore players who have no identity. You don't see individual goals anymore, the bastards are on the ground more than they are up and the whol atmosphere is lacking. In Mexico 86 you could feel the passion and drama. If you ask me the WC died after 1990.

Great World Cup. It still hurts that probably the greatest ever goal was scored against us but the other goal that game hurts even more.

the '86 is the best. no doubt about it. i wonder what ruined the last 3 world cups.the players were not making the games. that's for sure.too much marketing? the club leagues has gotton too big in someway that dwarfs the world cup? just sad.

And it`s not only this. The players are posing as cocktail stars, playboys and vogue models, instead of tough guys, devoted to the sport challenge. The football jerseys, tracktops and shoes today look like fashion for faggots. Even the way that players celebrate a goal is like a gay parade.

Besides this, I can`t stand watching how after an important game, the defeated players are laughing and cheering up. Once they cried in such moments,because they suffered for the game not for business.
