Did we ever meet the boyfriend in this series or see them together? Though I recall this plot line, I don't recall him ever actually being seen with a boyfriend on the show.
@inkyguy He was never seen with a long-term boyfriend on the show. There was a scene where a gay character played by Peter Gallagher asked him out to dinner and he said yes (see 'Homicide: Life on the Street- Closet Cases' uploaded by bgcv1234). And a few scenes where he tried to get a relationship with another cop off the ground, but it didn't end well (see my other videos, the Roger Fisk one).
Of course, some people might argue that was because his long-term boyfriend was really Pembleton ;)
5-31. Happy Birthday, Kyle. Or can I call you Detective Bayliss? I just want you to know that Homicide: Life on the Street is one of my all-time favorite shows. Many happy returns.
Thanks for the upload! It excites me. :) Heavily. I need some cold water, to stop giggling. And given the amount of fangirls out there, I'd say there are a lot of women (even lesbians!) who get excited by that. As a bi woman, I'd tell him to relax a bit: it's normal to fantasize with other people. Straight and gay people still imagine being with someone other than their partner.
Even though I don't like Ballard, I actually warmed up to her a bit in this scene (and this scene only). Wonderful arc with Bayliss, and the writers went about it so real and heart-felt as well.

Bayliss has always been my favorite. His complexity just adds to his character.
