I met a guy in the early nineties who trained with Bertil previously in th 80's ... he'd attend seminars with Bertil an such . I never forget how he described Bertil as not a nice person , bitter very bitter at times , somewhat sarcastic even at his own seminars . He said he was f...g strong guy in gym , but jjust a nasty cunt were his words. It shocked me as Bertil in pics was AAAAlways smiling .

The thing with Mr Olympia is that he is the AMBASSADEUR of the entire sport of bodybuilding. Thats why some people have it harder. It is'nt judged solely on physique. Is that good or bad? I dont know but thats how it is.

Also, in 1983, only one White bodybuilder [Frank Zane] beat Bertil.

The truth is if you were not a weider sponsored BB you couldt win Olmypia, the judges seem to base their winner on something more than the body, and i dont think race has anything to do with it. Probably back room hand shakes :P Because the winner will sell magazines, and be forced to work hard for Joe, i guess they didnt think bertil was ready for that.

Even in the 9-5 work place it's often a matter of who is liked instead of who is doing the better job. That said, thanks for posting this! I never really knew the full story behind this traggedy. His regular beating of women AND chosing a woman much too young for that serious a relationship proved to be a lethal combination.
