Social aspects were a secondary cause.The references you gave are accounts to what he did, but according to 1st Corinthians 15:1-4 the gospel is that Jesus Christ died, was buried and rose again. Look also at Romans 6:4-5.

I listened to Mr. Cone. He defines all things including religion in terms of his blackness. He has strange ideas about white supremacy. He dismisses anything coming from whites. I suggest that many great things have come from white leaders including a system that (though often unsuccessful) attempts to give all people equal opportunity. Continuing...When Paul began his ministry preaching to the Gentiles people have been taught that the Gentiles were the other nations and this is not what the bible says. They were preaching to the lost sheep of Israel who did not know that they were Israel and that Christ came to redeem them and bring all of the 12 tribes back together again. Read Romans 9: 24-26...Paul is quoting the Old Testament Hosea 2:23 and the entire chapter deals with how Israel rejected him and will be redeemed.

He is saying that what happens is that people take the bible out of context to suit their own purposes, even if it appears to be a good cause like liberating black people. sorry, but that is out of context. The story in the Bible is not of a God that is not concerned about material things. He speaks about the poor and justice for the oppressed constantly. This idea that there is some deeper root is a cheap get out from confronting immorality and injustice. Yes we are all poor in spirit, but we do not worship a greek god. This was a very intelligent, inciteful commentary on "Liberation Theology" and God's purpose to save souls, not take sides in racial conflicts.

Black AAmericans should study where Jeremiah Wright got this "Liberation Theology" - from the Marxist revolutionaries in Central America 70s,80s - they tried to merge Marxist class warfare with some version of Christianity, Communists had reps of being athiests. So they created Liberation Theology, merging Marx with Christ. It doesn't work.

I agree. This man talking about "liberation theology" makes sense in terms of saving souls.

Unfortunately, there is a difference between what this man is wonderfully saying, and the foundation of Reverend Wright's beliefs.

I know in all my heart Reverend Wright believes in God and means well, which is why he defends himself like he is currently doing. I can understand and respect that.

Unfortunately, I don't think Reverend Wright can see what we see and vice versa.

Wow, I appreciate your reasoning and kind words. As a white person I was really hurt by what Jeremiah Wright said about white people. He projected the "white person" onto Hillary Clinton and then totally discredited her as a human being and used God's word as his evidence. Outrageous! I wonder if Obama is a subscriber of Black Theo? I know a few women who voted for obama and are devastated. I can only hope that one day we can live in a world where a "Ron Paul" can become Pres.
