Good, I like that you share this video, I wish success always The man who is credited with coining the term "cyberspace" has finally entered the world he helped envision back in the 80ties.
I spent alot of time in Second Life a couple of years ago. Althought Second Life contains a wide range of aspects of "cyberspace", the one fact that its all owned by a single company and isn't an open internet standard really spoils it, in my opinion.
Right after this post I found some information about Opensim, which is an exciting development that I would be willing to accept as heading in the direction of true "cyberspace".
neuromancer has a unique (and very appealing) way with words when it comes to expressing cyberspace and our techno-future. i have learned to appreciate his advice on writing and his sincere output in the interviews on youtube, but i have to admit with less articulate and (intelilgent_ commentesr that neuromancer wasn't all it was cracked up to be. maybe im a generation too young, or maybe im missing something, but thats how i feel.
hmmph if you hasn't read any of his books don't base your judgements on Movies and TV shows
he is the biggest freakin influence on todays moden Sci-Fi cyberpunk as well as phlip K dick who might i ad also has shit book to movie aduptations but gibsons only had the one movie so far and neuromancer is yet to come. (i fear the release but love the books)
He wrote the short story Johnny Mnemonic, and unfortunately put his name on the screenplay. But seriously, you should read the short story before you criticize Gibson.
there's this movie here on youtube called "3d face morph from 2d picture" that would make SL so much better. Can you imagine just setting up 2d displays of face data and having it coded into 3d automatically by the end user's browser? Gibson rocks! Besides, he's the main reason the Christopher Reeve foundation, Braingate technologies and DARPA have been looking into mind-machine interface and optic nerve phosphor-mapping technologies. Everyone loves Molly and Chase.
thanks guys for these great comments. as everyone knows, who works in media in SL: lots of SWEAT go into these things, so every pat on the shoulder is very warmly received :)
after i watched this video, my insight is very open because the video is very good to give information William Gibson enters Cyberspace

I think the publication date doesn't matter as much as the validity of the model of platform we're talking about.

We all laugh at nerds but they are the true pioneers who help our society progress into the future.
Now if you'll excuse me I just sneezed and there is a booger in my hand which I must go home and look at immediately

Neuromancer sucks. Pretentious, wordy, techno-babble nonsense.

Neuromancer founded so many aspects of our modern life, i guess u just werent smart enough to understand it
JoshuaAliQuare 3 years ago
I didn't say I didn't understand it. Apparently you need a refresher in reading comprehension.
barrysbody 3 years ago
You didn't have to - your trashy rant gave truth to the implication - JushuAliQuare's comment stands.
No refresher needed!

Second Life is AIDS incarnate, but William Gibson alone made it legendary win for the short time he was there.
