Trying to let them take care of themselves is what brought all of this upon us. After supplying large amounts of weapons to Afghanistan in the 80's and the Soviets were forced to withdraw, we withdrew all support of any kind of reconstruction and left a vacuum in the country that the Taliban took advantage of.
