  • esta muy buena la version le hace una gran collera a la del album !! ;)

  • agreed probably the most seen concert of them all

  • Stu is missing...

  • My weed is orange and purple. I wont smoke anything brown. But this song is good.

  • Brilliant band, sooo tight, so smooth and funky. Is this Phoenix, as is Phoenix, Arizona, or the Phoenix Festival in the UK?

  • The original band was Jay Kay (vocals), Toby Smith (keyboard), Stuart Zender (bass), Nick Van Gelder (drums), Wallis Buchanan (didgeridoo) and Alec Moran (pipeau). These are the founding members of Jamiroquai and were involved in the writing and production of the first album. Obviously, Jay and the other members past and present COLLABORATED on their songs. You can tell he is a real musician because his vocals and movements are 'inside' the music and not on the borders.

  • BUt .. Jay kay sing with his nose ! LOL !

  • I know!

With this hat Jay just looks like Mr Hat in South Park xD

  • pocetak je savrsen.

  • This whole concert is as close as anybody can get perfection.

I would pay nice sum of money to be able to buy DVD of this some day.

  • so that's where mystery got his look! aaahahahaha

  • @lorenrb interesting observation. I must be the only person here who actually understood your comment ;)

  • @lorenrb haha that's hilarious!

  • This and the performance from Paleo 2010 are the 2 best live versions of space cowboy.

  • One of the best live performance of "Space cowboys" is live in Tokyo

  • Absolutely amazing intro! I love how every time he plays a song, he plays it a little differently, and gives it another new spark. Thanks for sharing.

  • LOL! Did anyone notice that little fail on 0:52? Jay Kay trys to grab the micro and fail :D He's so cool!

  • @oliveirantunes lol ^^

  • best jamiroquai concert EVER....amazing chemistry between each one of these fuckers :/

  • The best fucking version of Space Cowboy!!! Zender is a freaking beast! Cheeba Cheeebaaa!!!

  • 2:42 - 2:50

LOL look at Jay trying to call D-Zire but he made lot of time to listen kay

  • We all love Stuart and his funk, but the drummer is working 125% every single beat. Just killing it and setting up Stuart's pocket. Amazing band from one side of the stage to the other.

  • Wow, I can't believe this song is over 14 years old. Proof that good music is timeless!!

  • wow....i love the version they are doing...makes it more of a groove...with a bad ass twist

  • aciid jazzzz

  • the magic fifer, wonderful ,especially the very beginning, the best version, they don't write such music anymore

  • the magic fifer, wonderful especially the very beginning

  • the magic fifer, wonderful

  • True funk jazz music ....love it

  • True funk jazz music ....love it

  • there well never be another band like this one...this was the last of its breed :(

  • imagine the skills of stuart. HE is the only man who sounds good on a warwick :P

  • The best version ever!

  • No question about it ..... Stuart Zender is a beast on the bass 5:15.. He is killing it.!!!..Jay is doing his thang with vocals (as always ) I love acid jazz !!!!!!!

  • you can see in this concert stu is what in a normal lineup band the guitar player is, stu makes the solos! he and jay are the stars! no doubt the rest of the band makes a great job, this is one of their sickest performances ever

  • sweet originalletey

  • Starting from 3:28, those horns fit in PERFECTLY and sound so wonderful, they ALL sound like the best.

  • I Really Loved The Intro :)

  • I'm torn between this version and the Tokyo Ebisu 1995 version.

  • People! Please recommend progressive funk/acid jazz -or whatever you want to call it- bands witt at leat as good musicianship as we hear here...

  • Jay Kay has a great voice and is a damn good songwriter. Kind of a huge asshole too, unfortunately... but then, alot of brilliant people aren't the nicest. Can't let that take away from what he does well.

  • Where would we be without Jay Kay? :) - living genius!

  • @jamiroquai01fan Jay Kay? a living genius? he screeches incoherent scat into a dictaphone and tells the real musicians to turn it into something awesome, then takes all the royalties!

You're pinning all your love for Jamiroquai onto Jay Kay, when really he's the only one who is truly replaceable, the rest of the band are the ones with the hardcore talent.

  • @mattmit I absolutely 100% completely disagree with you! In fact i couldn't possibly disagree more. Just look at zender, as soon as he left jamiroquai he went down a peg. Mark Ronson has never made a good song. I'm not saying the musicians aren't talented. They are all utterly fantastic and VERY skilled! However, without Jay Kay, jamiroquai wouldn't be jamiroquai. He is superb at what he does, he has a great voice and is a superb writer. He made jamiroquai!

  • @jamiroquai01fan Well I guess until we hear one of Jay Kays early Dictaphone scat renditions, we'll never know if he's an extremely gifted songwriter or a blagger. I'll be fair and not label him either way until I know for sure. I do know that on Return of the Space Cowboy the bass is prominent and defines many of the songs, but Stu is rarely credited.

  • @mattmit I 100% agree with you!!

  • @jamiroquai01fan What? Do actually think Jay Kay did all that writing himself? The basslines, the harmony, the counterpoint, the arrangements etc are what made jamiroquai's first 3 albums great. Jay wrote the songs (ie the lyrics and melody), but the rest of the band did all the extra stuff to make the tracks amazing. Do you actually think Jay wrote those basslines, chose all those great chords like on Virtual Insanity or wrote this arrangement of space cowboy? He did in his arse!

  • @eoinwalsh91 No! of course that's not what I'm saying lol. Producing a good song is a group effort. But I am simply saying that without Jay Kay, Jamiroquai as a band would not be the same. Surely that goes without saying really doesn't it? Jay Kay comes up with some superb lyrics and melodies as you said and then the band members add their bit to turn that into a complete sound. He also has a truly unique and great voice to boot. :)

  • This is a great version. That intro is goose bumpingly sweet!

  • Who is the guitarrist?

    he´s great

  • @juanreloco The guitarist here is Simon Katz. He played on the "Return of the Space Cowboy", "Travelling without Moving" and "Synkronized" albums and was with the band from 1994 to 2000.

And yes, he was/is great. Overall, Jamiroquai had 3 live guitarists: Gavin Dodds (1993 - 1994, he played on "Emergency on Planet Earth") who sounded the funkiest, Simon Katz here who sounded the jazziest and Rob (the current one), the Rock guitarist :P.

    thank you so much dude!

  • badadadadadadadada .....

  • The Best Version Of The Space Cowboy !

  • they have to regroup

  • one of the best Version in youtube!

  • brillianttt!!!

  • even live; a band & voice to be reckoned with....

  • whats the name of that intro song

    loving it

  • @milickristijan Whats the name of that intro song, you say? Oh thats not an intro song. Thats just foreplay before the intercourse "Space Cowboy" is going to have with your ears.

  • @MrMoon360 lool so true! Just teasing before the real orgasm hits!

  • OMG, it's true! This version blows the Jazz Cafe version outta the park! Pity this video doesn't play the song till the very end.

  • Big!!!!Steward zender!!!

  • やっぱこの頃が全盛だなー、JK. samuel purdieとかもいいけど、

    唯一無二の最強JAZZ/FUNK系mixtureだよ。 つくづく。

  • @ikthanks yes indeed

  • love you jk

  • waouh !

  • nobody has these movements, these sweety voice, these clothes style, this charisma! Jay Kay is the best!

  • Turn on, tune in, drop out. One of the best performances of Space Cowboy. Love it.

  • @immediately3000 I agree. If not THE best Space Cowboy performance. Hard to decide.

  • No matter how many times you see, you miss "this" lineup. The crazy thing is that Zender can't read music. I couldn't believe it myself but he admits it in an interview he did in 2009 and says he focuses on his "inner groove" to play. Music reader or not, the boy is wicked ill on the bass!!!!

  • @cyberpsych1 Jay Kay can't read music either. ;)

  • Stu is wonerful, but let don't forget Jason!

  • Too bad I was only 12 in 97.. I wouldn't miss a blink to see that right now! They need to come to the states again!

  • 2:42 - 2:50

lol le mek est passif et jay tante de l'appeler en live XD exellen

  • I so much love the break at 5:12 with the bass and organ in the background. So smooth and deep

  • The keyboard is absolutely insane when the final solo starts.

  • JK is weird in a good way lol 3:45

  • Now I understand why this

has to be music from the *interplanetary good vibe zone*.

  • The bassline is sooo hot!!!

We want your new album so bad Jk!!!! *-*

Jamiroquai best band in the universe!! :DD

  • yo yo where's the black girls singing...?

  • @losme They joined in 2001 - This is 1997 :)

  • @losme

There weren't any backing vocalists yet.

Instead, the backing vocals were spammed by DJ-Zire (Spam FTW xD), and there was a brass section. Most fans actually prefer this line-up with them included.

  • Cheeba Cheeba.

This version of the bridge with the clavinet, dissonant wah wah rhodes and the horns is simply amazing. Heavy!

For me, the perfect line up.

  • Stuart Zender is an animal!

  • It's not the original band members today though. Not the same thing unfortunately...

  • @juagino neither is this.

  • Brilliant!! Love the horns! Wish these guys were still together so that I'd have a chance to watch them live...

  • They're still together. You might still have a shot. lol

  • if you note, half way through, he asks his organiser to turn the vocals down slightly, its funny, you can see his hand movements. He's spot on even when he's not trying

  • As a composition, a song, this is just totally ACE work. Now THIS is music. What a vibe. All live.

  • derrick mckenzie, wise vision, minimalist....

i love the downbeat at 4.20, is so so so softly

this is an example of experience in practice and logical composition and arrangement.

    bravo

  • amazing

  • aaahhhhh....who can bring me back the lovely 90's??!!

  • Oh......Mr.Stu honey baby.......

Your sexy basslines make me completely speechless ....

  • Love this band, but i miss stu zender, eally miss him(

  • There's nothin' like 'Live' Jay Kay.

    Smooth, sexy, jazzy, funky.

    LOVE HIM!

  • this guy is one of the best front men ever.

  • I can only hope JK sees this clip, shed a tear and and thinks that the band sounded so fucking TIGHT and good with Stewart Zender on board. I had the pleasure of seeing them in 1994 in Brussels in a 1,500cap theather with a bowl-shaped wooden floor. The sound was so amazing and these same guys played there that night... Best concert of my life.

  • this is the most killin live performance of this song ive seen. the way the horns and synth weave their lines together during the horn interlude is really nice to listen to.

  • oh baby

  • cheeba cheebaa... ch-ch-cheeeeeeba!

  • Comment removed

  • Out of this world, that's how this song sounds...

  • hope the new album is a bit more soul like the old days and this.. and not too disco

  • i wouldnt judge it by the sound of the album tho..when you hear the live versions wich is usually how the real song is supposed to sound then id judge..theres a lot of songs that i dont like in the album but then i hear them live and i freak the fuck out lol

  • me too, i like the disco stuff but i agree that they need to go back and do more soul and funk. If you look at the performances from the end of the sony contract onwards, for example the f1 malaysia gig in '09 and rock in rio '08, there are signs of going back to the old style and apparently, Jay has been quoted as saying there will be lots of horns and strings in the new songs which is a good sign :) i can't wait!!!

  • quality band pure funkiness!!!

  • Man, this is a great band. Only a fool would think otherwise..

  • yesss

  • Oh, come on... Rob Harris instead of Simon Katz won't add anything to this jam.

  • JK IS a different level ! Absolute quality !

  • god they always sound amazing live, even through youtube, truly a great band!

  • Best version from the TRAVELING WITHOUT MOVING ERA!!!

  • I love his voice. He's so soulful. A truely great Artist.

  • This music really makes me wish I was older in the 90's. Would have loved to see them live.

  • me too

  • Join the club. Haha.

  • Jamiroquai's 1993-97 albums is like drinking fine wine.. As it ages it simply gets better and we appreciate their unique sound much much more!! :)

  • its amazing coz if u watch from 2.42 he's telling the soundman to put either his mic up or something else but it just looks like he's jamming thats a pro singer for you!! LOVE THEM FOREVER!!!!!!!!

  • no high note after first chrous...

i still love jamiroquai mostly the original stuff like EPE,SC,TWM, but jay kays voice is nothing like it used to be :(, and also toby and stu left :(

  • Крышераздирающая версия!!!

  • THIS SHOULD GET SO MANY THINGS!!!

    1. 1000000 Million Views

    2. Best Youtube Video

    3. Best Funk / Acid Jazz Band for 1990-2000000!!!

  • @CoolKidOffTheBlock:

Well, it's not like there has been a lot of funk / acid jazz after the 70's.

  • I want Stu's bass skills!

  • Stuart Zender + Derrick McKenzie = Acid Jazz Orgasm.

Love the sound of these guys.

  • Have agree ,this lineup was just so good,Zender , such a under rated player.

  • ok, he was good but no way is he underated, if anything he is overated-people don't shut up about him lol.

  • and you call yourself a fan? O_O

  • sorry - this comment is about zender not JK. JK is awesome!

  • @jamiroquai01fan really are you crazy ? LOL! Stuart Zender's b-line is SICK! he is one of the best bassist in the world!

  • @nauticar These guys couldn't play strait jazz if thier life depended on it. But I still like em. Nice gemick, ok sound.

  • @TheBrassHole good job their a jazz funk acid jazz outfit then dick head.

  • @england1413 Jazz? - some chords... Funk? - sometimes... Generic at best, but I still like them... No need to spout insults.

  • @TheBrassHole sincerest apologies I was brash and in a mood. You are missing the point by dividing the music. They arent a jazz band or trying to play some bits of jazz and other bits of funk. Generic is completely right. Acid Jazz or Jazz Funk is a name for the genre/image in itself and does not identify with the specifics of what is being played part by part. The same goes for Zero 7.

  • THIS VERSION OF "SPACE COWBOY" IS AMAIZIN... SO FUNKY AND SO FRESHH!!! Ah-hah-ah-ah-ah.. that breathe... lovely!

  • Slow are not I am feelin this version hard ..VERY MELLOW...the breathing into the mic....was hot !!!.....THE LOVE AFFAIR CONTINUES ...

  • I love this!?!

  • hahahahahahahaha...dats a good one noel1971...lol..wat was atta67 even thinking at that point of time..stuart zender, marcus miller, stanley clarke or victor wooten??

  • Atta67 - you are the next Simon Cowell! You're so wise!

  • It's too slow. The original is faster than this

  • great! :)

  • jamiroquai eres el mejor lastiam ke seas wero jaja

  • He have perfect voice *_*

  • what are you talking about? that's crazy! instantaneously seek help!

  • Space Cowboy just can't get any better than this, just can't. Too bad there's no DVD or full concert to download at least what i have been looking. Whole concert seems great.

  • STU is the bEST

  • Listen that funky bass!:D Especially at 5:13 ---->
