lol in cali trout are a game fish so we can't use them as bait :O and we have shad but they don't sell them in stores and we can't use a cast net -_- so my options are extremely limited. :O

@MrKRYSPY - I have a buddy in CA, he was amazed about what we could use for bait. 4ft castnet to catch the thread fins in?!?! He also mentioned that gizzards have been showing up in on of those chains of lakes out there.

Isint it illegal to use trout as bait...

Not in GA. Without a receipt you can have 6 of legal size. With a receipt you can has as many as you want. In TN you need to be in your daily creek limit. In KY or AL you can't use trout. So it depends where your fishing!
