they need a good defenceive player and a goal scoaer go can clutch goals, oh and A NUMBER 1 GOALTENDER
toskala has been good the past 2 games but we need a consistant numbder 1 goalie and the way hes been playing all season hes one of the worst starting goaltenders in the league.
That's why they don't use the shootout in the play offs its not a legitimate way of representing skill they only use it in regular season to speed up the game and not have it run on for hours on end
Hopefully Brian Burke will bring in a superstar of some sort. The Leafs average 34.0 shots a game, but they need someone to finish it off.
I heard something about Kovalchuk potentially getting traded to Toronto, but who knows. It would be nice though to have someone that can finish the plays off, like Sundin often did on the power play last season.
Anyways, I think Brian Burke coming to T.O. is a great thing. It just might give the spark that the Leafs need, and get them out of this streak!
No one mentioned how fantastic the actual game was. It was fast, powerful, loads of hits, excellent goal keeping and thoroughly enjoyable. I was scared to take my eyes of the TV in case I missed anything. Anyway - that was a brilliant video Steve, loved it all. The Scottish Laddie
being a canadiens fan i rarely watch the leafs. but i did yesterday since the habs weren't playing and i enjoy seeing either ottawa or toronto lose (it's a win-win situation for me) and i must admit grabovski impressed me. he's clearly better than he was in montreal. did you see that spinny-thing fake he did in the second at the blue line? that was awesome! Then again, he'd make a great figure skater.
They just arent playing well at all. Everytime i watch blake handle the puck its like he gets this feeling in him " ohh man i got the puck now, let me go all the way and show the leafs what im made...........SHIT" and bring back belak, that guy was a tough bastard and i loved it! nice video to steve, keep it up.
I heard today yesterday that its likely he wont come back to the NHL, but if he does, he most likely wont play for the leafs, because Burke says he wants younger players, and more cap room for those younger players
I want to see Burke transform the Leafs into a legit Western style team. Something like Detroit, Calgary, San Jose u know...if you think about it...you stick San Jose in the Eastern confrence or even Anaheim i think they will DOMINATE the rest of the confrence dont you agree???
I don't think he's a first liner, no. Not when compared to other 1st liners around the league. He's easilty a legitemate 2nd liner, but I wouldn't call him a bonafide 1st liner.
Since when is 57 points worthy of first line status? And Antropov was on pace for like 85 points at this point last season. Being a second line forward isn't anything to be ashamed of, hell, I wish I could claim I was a 2nd line nhl forward. He just isn't 1st line class.
hes a second liner, hes not good enough to be a first liner comparing him to other first liners nah, hes to slow yes he can put the puck in the net but i say hes a second liner.
But in the end, point's better than no point. And it's not like we have anything to look forward to, unless you count six consecutive drafts without getting a single decent prospect...ugh.
The play of Kaberle and Kubina is very concerning. They both seem to have lost their passion and intensity. The Leafs are looking to them to provide leadership, but neither have stepped up in terms of on ice leadership. This is something that Burkie will address when he arrives? I also feel that Blakie will be demoted to the Marlies. I hear the NYI would be interested in getting him back?
I wanna see Blake gone, Or atleast I wanna see someone thats able to set up Blake. It would be kinda cool to see a big trade in Toronto, just don't get rid of Kabbers. I did read somewhere that Patrick Marleau would play for Wilson any time any place, so hopefully we'll see Marleau in Toronto!
Regardless any no trade clause Kaberle, Blake, Kubina, Antropov could leave to open for new opportunities. Always having in mind we are in a rebuilding process based on welcoming young players. Goal tending seems solid but also fragile at the same time. Defense, center, attack. Trios are the priority. Maybe too severe to say that we have inly third trios. Steve your vid, your advices, your analysis, your humour are impeccable. I say thank you to life that you exist. Keep up the good work!
What do I wanna see out of Burke? I wanna see Kaberle, Antropov, and possibly Jason Blake leave so we can get some high first round picks, such as Hedman(long shot), Tavares(even longer shot), or, more realistically, Brayden Schenn:), I also wouldn't mind a better goaltender(Vokoun, anyone?), and possibly a REALLY good, big Defensemen, to be paired with Schenn and maybe teach him a few things. Chara's my first choice but since I know that'll never happen I'll just have to wait and see...
What do I want to see out of Brian Burke? I want Poni,Antropov,Kubina and Kabby(Yes I know, no trade clause..McCabe anyone?) ALL moved out of here.I then want to go into the draft with an opportunity to select John Tavares
Ok but so while that may be a LONG shot for all of that to happen.I really dont see Burke making a huge splash with the Leafs at least until the trade deadline because what kind of deal can he make with these players without trading away any draft picks.I actually liked Fletch
i think Burke will focus on making them a top 5 team in the draft and work from there might even trade up in the draft if he dosnt like our poisition but i know he will do something that will be criticized for by leafs fans and the media but in the end it will workout
Great David Caruso impersonation. That guy is annoying the way he talks, then pauses, then turn his head, then finally finishes off his sentence.
Burke will rip the team down even more. I think he will try to get Kaberle and Kubina to waive their no-trade clause's. Poni and Antropov may be on the block also. Actually, everyone but Schenn, will likely be on the block.
i want him to not trade schenn for anything, not even Josh Georges and a 3rd (thats a joke from thescore)he should just sit back and wait tell the deadline Kaberle wont waive his no-trade and Hopefuly Kubina will so he can trade him for picks and Prospects
whats up with Kulemin pulling off the SAME shootout move EVERY time. I keep thinking hes going to fake that move and pull it to the backhand but he never does!
lol... you seemed a little calm in this vid Stevie...but I liked the dry humour this time around... But I definitely agree with your view on the trade and the Burke signing..wait and see. I'm tired of everyone's immediate thirst for answers! INSTANT ANALYSIS IS OVERRATED! ;)
MATS SUNDIN... antripov, poni, and sundin line was good back what 2 years ago but with the hagman, goalbovski, kulimin line as your secondary scoring i think it work work quite well, and leafs need that leadership sundin brings to the team... and kaberle, *sigh* should have been trade for jeff carter last year
Deveaux is a great edition to this young team. Can't wait to see what BB will do as prez and GM.... Sundin return?.. nah -_- Blake traded? HELL YES. I would even liek to see Kaberle and/or Kubina dealt away, but it would have to be for something real good.
I want him to get gaborik... just cause he's wicked... but seriously, how about getting a top line for next year cause we dont have one this year. we have four third lines that on there best days play like a second line. AND A CAPTAIN!!
I don't know about Gaborik. He seems soft and I get an impression of him being selfish. I dunno... as for a captain, just wait til Luke Schenn gets a little older.
As for what what I'd like to see out of Burke... maybe sign some UFA's that actually pan out. I'd want Shea Weber traded to the Leafs although now that his stock is going through the roof it may be bad timing. Seems like a player Burke would love and draft Hedman.
Imagining a future Leaf pairing of Schenn & Hedman. <3333

I think antropov is going to be moved because he's easily the most marketable asset without a no-trade clause.
andrewrberkshire 3 years ago
Well i don't know cause considering the team Antropov is a key player in it so i think Poni would be the first to go
sniperstar 3 years ago
True, but the question to Burke will be, is Antropov worth as much as he could get in return, especially at the trade deadline.
andrewrberkshire 3 years ago
Why would the leafs trade away,a young,1st liner, when there Rebuliding
vaneKfan2k 3 years ago
Because they can get more that he's worth at the trade deadline, and antropov isn't a first liner.
andrewrberkshire 3 years ago
Really? a big Power forward,who will get 30 goals,and 60 points a season isnt a secent 1st line player?
vaneKfan2k 3 years ago
I don't think he's a first liner, no. Not when compared to other 1st liners around the league. He's easilty a legitemate 2nd liner, but I wouldn't call him a bonafide 1st liner.
andrewrberkshire 3 years ago
He's a 1st liner bud.he is a decent 1st liner,he's not a superstar but hes a good 2way player who puts up 60+ points and 30+ goals a season.
thats a 1st liner
vaneKfan2k 3 years ago
Antropov has never had a 60 point or 30 goal season, and has only had a single good season. He's far from a guarentee to put up points.
andrewrberkshire 3 years ago
Antropov had 26 goals,last season and 57 points,he was on pace for 30 goals,and 62 points.
He's having another great season this year.
give up
