As you refer to the school being crap, that suggests to me that you go to one of the other excellent schools in town. I bought "Faryl" from iTunes, and Danny Boy is on that album. My personal favourite though is "River of Light". This youngster is an elegant, gifted singer, and such a lady already at only 13 years of age! I love how appreciative she is of all who have supported her. An "entertainer" with true "class" at last!

I love her eponymous debut album but I note that the song 'Danny Boy ' aka The Londonderry Air ' which she mentioned as being one of her favourite songs on the album,actually isn't on there,so obviously never made the final selection. I now have her sophomore album ' Wonderland' which is again a great album, even though the songs on there are less well known (to me anyhow) and sadly ' Danny Boy ' is again missing. I really hope it will be included on her 3rd album as it is a great song.

Hi. Thanks for the information about the ' Danny Boy ' track. I have now ordered the De Luxe version of Faryl's album. It's a shame though that I hadn't spotted it before as I ordered her album from Amazon and now will have two copies! I must learn to be more observant in the future,though I think it a bit money grabbing of the label to issue two versions as quite a few people might have just bought the 12 track version. I just hope her second album 'Wonderland ' doesn't have an alternate copy.

It would be nice to get a copy signed by her (which is what I think you are saying) but I doubt there are any left now. I will be quite happy to hear her singing ' Danny Boy ' as it is one of my favourite songs. I also like the songs ' Scarlet Ribbons ' and ' My Love Is Like A Red Red Rose ' but sadly neither are appropriate for her to sing. I am a big Eva Cassidy fan and I would like Faryl to cover some of her songs.

The signed de-luxe album was a limited edition. There were more photos of Faryl than on the standard version. There is a video of Faryl singing Danny Boy at the 2009 Llangollen Gala Concert in YT.

Come on Abby - she is just a normal girl and I suspect certain people are in awe and a little jealous of her success.

She is a child and has a way to go yet before she is adult, but she thinks and acts in a sensible way from what I have seen.

Of course you will have to add your name and address to the emails. Other malicious people have said similar things but none have come out of hiding to do so. I don't know Faryl Smith personally, but why would anyone find it impossible to believe that she behaves exactly as other girls her age do? Just because she sings like an angel it doesn't mean she is one. She is a KID, albeit a talented one, not an adult. I would be careful about attributing her with maturity and social skills that she is not likely to have as yet. It does her a disservice.

This girl is making these accusations which are totally unfounded. As a former member of the teaching profession in the same town as Faryl's school, I know some staff at that school. All schools in the UK are required to have an anti bullying policy. No-one, I am informed, has ever reported her for bullying. Most malicious comments about her are made by jealous girls who do not figure in her circle of friends.I don't know Faryl, but I know people who do. And they refute these rumours.

We have strict anti-bullying policies in Canadian schools as well, but beyond primary school, bullying is seldom reported. Girls also bully in a very different way than boys do - it is usually covert and goes on unnoticed by adults. This is a fact. I have no opinion on these accusations, I am only saying that the adults around her need to pay close attention. Many child stars turn out to be dreadful adults because of the behaviours they exhibit with impunity during these very critical years.

By the way, it is rather a broadsweeping generalisation to state that all of those with talent/fame do not need to bully. Low self esteem springs from many roots; the lack of fame/talent hardly figures as a primary cause. Conversely, talent and fame do not guarantee a sense of self worth. These things are not related.

I think that you will find that most non Welsh people would use the anglisized pronunciation omitting the soft "th" sound of "dd" and the slight click of th "ll" in Llangollen. Without trying to sound superior, I and two climbing friends spent a lot of time among native speakers in Snowdonia over many years and always tried to use the correct pronunciation of Welsh words even when speaking to each other. I think you are just a little bit too sniffy about her version of Calon Lan though.

I'm not saying she is a bad singer just should have spent more time on the pronunciation, even catherine jenkins has poor pronunciation when singing it, and its a simple song. Imagine being Italian and hearing a singer sing a song in Italian with the wrong pronunciation. Same thing. And I am from Snowdonia and have lived in england for a few years at uni so I know non welsh find it hard to do the dd and ll but if you compete in it you shuold say it correctly. x

Well OK. I bow to your better judgement on this. But she was taught the song by her Welsh speaking grandfather, and I would imagine that he heard her sing it and thought it was not bad. Not being an expert in the Welsh language I would think that some of the unique consonant sounds, such as the "ll" would be difficult to sing even for a native Welsh singer. Her pronunciation of Welsh would never be perfect, but I think she deserves credit for doing her best. But I don't think it's awful anyway.

Just to add a comparison. I once heard Prince Charles, I think it was at his inaugeration as Prince of Wales, make a speech in Welsh. Now that, even to my untrained ear, was truly awful. Only to be outdone in awfulness by Sir Edward Heath's French. I don't speak French either but even I could tell how appalling that was.

I agree that she is not an opera singer and she has never claimed to be one, prefering the term, classical. It is largely due to press reports that classical singers get tagged as opera singers. You no doubt know that all opera singers are classical singers, but not all classical singers are opera singers. I, like you, wish that people who should know better, would use the correct labels for classical and opera singers.

Yes, it is the people who should know better Mike. That is my point. She is a classical singer, a very successful one now. But Opera is different and very, very technically demanding. A child could not do it as successfully as an adult. Faryl is concentrating on her schoolwork now -which she should be. Careers are for adults not children. She will have a successful career I am sure, but they should let her enjoy her teen years with her peers learning about life in the real world.
