No, the point of maul dying was to show how Obi-Wan grew throughout the series. He killed Maul out of rage, obi-wan had the power to disable Maul, but he didn't want that. He wanted him to die.
Growth of Obi-wan is seen in the end of the third movie and the end of the forth. He had a chance to kill, but didn't. In the end of the forth when he looked at Luke, he knew Vader had hope left in him. He decided to use non-violence to win Vader back. Which in the end worked.
Grievous is a cyborg not a droid. Darth Maul and Vader are the most awesome villains ever, with Grievous being a close second. I agree, Maul had potential. He had like one line in the film WTF

yea man, cuz Episode 1 is the first star wars movie i saw, then i went out and watched 4 5 and 6. but when Maul came, his appearance first of all was already enough to make him cool, then his double sided saber. his weapon was the best, well until Griveous used 4 sabers on Obi-Wan which was way cooler, but he's a droid so that kinda took away the hype. the way Maul died was just dissapointing, it was horrible.
yea theres novels on him tho. that i havent had the chance to check out. i would recommend buyin the book, cuz they're always good i side stories that they dont mention in the movies.

@ArrEssEss the fact he could take one 2 jedi masters and amost kill both of them means he was probably up there with the emperor himself he was powerful and skillful but i guess not very perceptive in reality though he would have killed both of them and been far stronger then vader since vader lost the ability to obtain alot of powers after he lost his hands and legs which is why he can't use force lightning
@AJVersatility19 look the prequels had a lot of good stuff in it but how it was made was retarded! it was too rushed and too messed up. there was no originality and no character theme.

In episode III he intentionally jumps into a circle of an army of droids with grevious at the front. and of course so we can have a battle scene, grevious says i'll take him down myself. Like they could have just shot him to freaking pieces! The green screen didnt help either.

They killed Darth Maul way too early. He had potential to be up there with Vader.
It would have been cool if they showed his return in Episode II instead of the extended universe.
