  • Hello, very nice!

Please a question for you: do you keep these birds in your livingroom en what are the sizes of the cage? I am looking for a few nice birds to have in my house.

    Reinier from The Netherlands

  • Hi, I will split your reply into a few comment boxes so it fits...

The bird in the video is one of a number of wild birds that have been

rescued either because they were injured or because they were separated

from their parents by ill fortune. The birds that recovered or grew

into able bodied adults, were gradually released back into the outside

    environment.

  • Cages should be large enough for the bird to fly from

perch to perch, not just hop. The birds in care are only kept in cages

when injured, once recovered the door of the cage is left open so that

they can return to sleep and feed in them but are able to spend time

free in the room. Obviously the room must be a safe, comfortable and

quiet place for them, with access to sunlight from a window.

  • They will leave some mess but a small bird leaves a small mess and they tend to

choose certain spots to settle on and one can put newspaper down on

those spots. If you want a bird that lives in a cage choose a small

bird, (or 2 of the same species to keep each other company,) and a

large cage (but the bars should not be so far apart that a small bird

    can squeeze through).

  • Make sure that it has access to sunlight but not draughts or cold. It will like a mirror and the opportunity to take a

shallow bath as well as the usual, (daily fresh,) food, water and bird

vitamins. It would be best to choose your bird because you love it as

it is, not because it will look pretty or you hope to handle it, as

they generally prefer not to be touched.

  • Why not ask your local animal

rescue centre, they may have a bird that you can help and enjoy? Good

luck and get in touch if you have another question.

  • ahh this is such a beautiful video

  • Please help me i came home from school and my bird was on the blanket i put over his cage when i came in he was caught in the blanket i rscued his little feet but his left foot seems to not be moving is it broken it just dangles down how do you know if your bird had a broken foot PLEASE HELP I LOVE MY BIRD by the way your bird is beutiful :)

  • He's so sweet :-)

At certain times of the year I've seen hundreds of them round here in great flocks in the early evening. They just seem to descend here then disappear. Sadly, I'm no bird expert, so I'm not sure how normal that is.

  • what a loser, your comments boring!!!!

  • @assfailer you just got flamed

  • WoW!

Pip is very lucky to have you looking after him. That's so sweet.

  • great job! well done!

  • Supeepp!

  • That is amazing - but what's the rest of the story?! Where are these injured birds coming from, how do you treat their injuries? Will we get to see the happy ending, if there is one?
