that was amazing footage; the traffic, the orange colored smoke, the transmission lines, and the flames. Wow. I hope we don't get any more big fires down here. We've had our share and so many people have lost their homes.

They did eventually shut down the freeway, but it was very difficult and crazy for awhile. The smoke was terrible, so visibility was about zero. The fires were all around the freeway, so you can't just send people down an offramp into burning brush. Also, there are sections of that part of the freeway in which the exits are spread out. Amazing that not one civilian or firefighter lost their life in this fire.

LAPD and Califronia State Patrol are Required to shut down the Highway in both directions when their are flames and smoke like that. That are very close to the high way. Now i am not sure why the high way was not shut down but if i was a cop and i was passing throught i would immediately shut down the high way. For safety reason.

dude that day was crazy. me my mom and grandma were on our way to my bros competion (rccmarching band) and i saw like yorblina i told my mom to get off and we get off and it took like 10 mins to get back on the freeway... If i didn't say anything i wouldn't be here it was f*****g crazy..

Most of us know to hall ass when the freeway is catching on fire, but there are some retards that need to slow down to a near stop to stare causing everyone else to panic. Thanks for the video. I used to live in those apartments and was always afraid something like this would happen there. They were surrounded by dry brush and tons of trees with dried leaves on everyones balcony. Very sad but it was just a matter of time.

Hopefully they will get that fire under control. At times we get what is called 'pink sunsets' up here on the North Dakota, Minnesota border because the smoke aerosols can be transported here from California via low level jet streams.

It may sound like movie music, but this was actually written by Dmitri Shostakovich- and it is often emulated in movie music! It is from Shostakovich's Symphony #10 (Mvt 2). I chose this music for several reasons, but mostly because we were actually on our way to perform this piece at the Riverside Philharmonic concert that evening.
