i,m not trying have a battle here i,m just telling you what i think and should be the fact.i,m telling you this because i,m know how hard programming can be but that those not make the artist job easier what make it look easier is the fact that they can work faster with less mistake's programmers have to do a lot of thinking and writing that can cause a lot of mistake especially when working with a novice and that make ur job slower and harder that's why it can take a long time to make a game.

actually most modern games are made with prebuilt engines (meaning programming is a smaller job)... sad isn't it... That's why there's no individuality in games these days (lol I'm kidding, there is lots of different games... I can't wait to go get borderlands...)

Besides, the draw functions in a game are less than 1% of the actual code.

Just to for you to start with, make a polygon class that can rotate and scale, and apply textures to it that can animate frames. Then create a collision checking class. Then draw some shapes on the screen with animating textures, and do collision checking.. and response.
