If God is perfect, why are his creations so flawed? Since he made us as we are, why punish us when we act according to our programing? In the Old Testament, the Jews were God's chosen people through whom he planned to bless the entire world. This was foretold in his promises to Abraham and his descendants. This was fulfilled through not only the eventual prosperity of the Jews, but most importantly Jesus. Obviously, there wasn't mass media in Biblical times. Immediately after Jesus' resurrection, even people in other parts of Jerusalem didn't know of the scriptures. Hence God's charge to spread his word through the world.
Look at 2 scenarios: 1) There IS NOT an all-knowing, all-powerful God. 2) There IS an all-knowing, all-powerful God. The spread of religions, the random good and bad things that happen to people, the fact that there was never an amputee whose limb was miraculously regenerated, the carbon dating of fossils, the fact that the more DNA we share with a particular species the more we resemble that species-ANY subject we debate fits together WAY better with scenario "1".

1) The gradual spread or disappearance of the many religions throughout recorded history is easier to rationally explain to oneself when you realize that ALL religions were ideas of HUMANS(not an all-powerful, all-knowing God). Many times, religions were spread through violence and bloodshed. Major battles have been fought between Christians and Muslims. Sometimes the Christians won and sometimes the Muslims won.
Conquered people have converted to the religion of their conquerors THROUGHOUT HISTORY. If ONE of those ridiculous religions was the one and only TRUTH, you wouldn't have to be conquered to believe in it. Atheists form THEIR beliefs by questioning the world around them. There has NEVER been a movement by an Atheist kingdom(LOL) to conquer and force Atheism violently down another nation's throat.

The amputee question, for me, is the easiest one to answer of all the 10 questions. God never said he would heal amputees. Just like he never said he would change the color of my hair. In the Old Testament, the Jews were God's chosen people through whom he planned to bless the entire world. This was foretold in his promises to Abraham and his descendants. This was fulfilled through not only the eventual prosperity of the Jews, but most importantly Jesus. Obviously, there wasn't mass media in Biblical times. Immediately after Jesus' resurrection, even people in other parts of Jerusalem didn't know of the scriptures. Hence God's charge to spread his word through the world.

1) The gradual spread or disappearance of the many religions throughout recorded history is easier to rationally explain to oneself when you realize that ALL religions were ideas of HUMANS(not an all-powerful, all-knowing God). Many times, religions were spread through violence and bloodshed. Major battles have been fought between Christians and Muslims. Sometimes the Christians won and sometimes the Muslims won.

The amputee question, for me, is the easiest one to answer of all the 10 questions. God never said he would heal amputees. Just like he never said he would change the color of my hair. Just like he never said he would let me live forever. Just like he never said he'd make 1 millions bucks suddenly appear on my doorstep.
It's really the same answer as to why Jesuss doesn't appear to us in physical form and make us believe. We have the freedom of choice to believe or not.

1. God has never healed an "amputee".
2. God's love requires him to heal everyone.
3. God performs miracles today to the same degree that he did during certain short periods of history (themselves relatively rare within the Bible)

Nice - An unnecessary, complicated, and convoluted breakdown of HOW the question and/or questions were asked in the amputee video - Oh, and additional kudos for the multiple use of "air quotes". But, hey - I was wondering... Why didn't you answer the question and/or questions that were posed to those of Christian faith? You did nothing but establish that the intentions of the video's author were disingenuous. Congrats on a summarization that was, I'm sure, plain to most who watched the video.

A lot of my non-Christian friends have face and body peircings and they'd probably be more likely to listen to someone who is into the body mod scene like they are rather than someone with a shirt and tie.
Just because a Christian doesn't look like you is no reason to judge them. Who knows what God is doing with them?

I agree completely with you good man, you stole my thoughts when I was watching the original "10 simple questions any intelligent cristian should answer" video, I am an agnostic by the way, I was hoping for actually some simple, intelligent and sincere questions, but I found the most stupid impositive asshole "questions", completely closed to dialogue, specially his last 5 questions were really ridiculous. I can't explain it as well as you do though, keep up the good work.

Also I would say that one of the simplest questions in modern science like "What is space?", "What is time?", "How Universe works?", "What is life?" and so on [Which are by structure and length simple questions!], Have one of the most complex answers ever made or even do not have an answer. But nobody attacks and hope nobody will attack science for not answering that simple!

OK. Explain to me the legitimacy of the Christian god (or whatever god you believe in) versus the illegitimacy of the thousands of other gods that have existed throughout time.
It is quite likely you believe in the most common religion in your geographical region.
I'm sure having your friends, family, postal workers, community members, and political leaders share your religion does not influence your choice. Right?

I never liked the socratic method, but I do agree with his point about the questions being insincere. They are usually bait and switch. I think he uses too many ten dollar words in the explanation though.

Basically, cookie-crumb questions.
I don't think this is a dishonest way of questioning, yet it's not interrogatory.

My guess is that the maker of the video was not addressing "intelligent Christians" as much as he was the multitude of Christians that hold unexamined beliefs. Despite that, some of the questions make points to which I have yet to see an adequate response. The video was obviously built for effect but that does not qualify it as simple propaganda.

If TheCarruths were so intelligent, the questions posed by GllVideo so simple, and the "real" answers completely logical (as opposed to the "presupposed" answers), then, it should be an easy feat to convert the entire remaining 5/6th of the planet to Christianity.

One question though, are you trying to defend Christianity here or attack this man's video for his use of loose vocabulary and questionable methods? If you are defending Christanity, then you have honestly failed. You cannot defend a religion by attacking people of different ideologys, without supporting your own.
